- aaaah im finally fking uploading this!! im sorry the upload schedule has been...very unscheduled. ive been in a summer bummer for the past 2ish weeks. i have the ideas and desire for videos, and some filmed, but i dont have the mental energy recently to actually ~work~ on them. that is something im slowly working on :)

hiiii i apologize for the few editing errors in this vid 😔 due to the summer bummer i mentioned in the description, this video was actually co-edited by me and lexi and we’re both still getting used to the editing software i switched to (bc fck adobe) and i made the mistake of not watching it in full, only the parts i edited. i will make sure to make sure to watch the full project before exporting and i apologize for the lazy mistake :/ 🫶🏻

i was at target not too long ago and i was wondering where the pride merch was. honestly, kinda scares me that being pro-lgbt or queer isnt becoming brand friendly anymore. like i hate rainbow capitalism, but the fact that we aren't marketable anymore is scary. especially since there was a study recently that showed support for same-sex marriage and queer protections was DECREASING since 2023. i dunno, im just terrified for our futures, and i live in a pretty queer-friendly state.

it genuinely hurt when target/walmart (now i forget but) took their pride merch out of stores, like do they realize how scary it is to back down to bigots? how hurtful it is to the community?
Very sad, but also sadly predictable that Target caved to the transphobes and scaled back their Pride stuff this year.

my friends and i were talking about target's pride collection this year since we've only seen it on display in about... two targets in total this year, and one of my friends said that target scaling it back this much is feeling like the canary in the coal mine for pride merch and rainbow capitalism as a whole and, not sure how to feel about it ngl since capitalism bad but also looking at target's pride collection every year is something i've always looked forward to
ALSO i own that halter top at the very beginning of the video and its MUCH cuter in person tbh tbh i actually kind of love it!
When I brought up the lack of Target pride merch visibility online, a friend brought up the fact that she followed creators who were personally never paid for their contributions last year. It kind of explains the immediate drop-off in quality/diversity this year.

Omg with all due respect if the stripes matched on that rainbow jumpsuit it would cost 500$ 💀 That is definitely a sign of good quality clothing but you should not expect good quality clothing from a fast fashion giant 🥲
It's been a second since I've seen the actual percentages, but by far the majority demographic that spends money at target is people 45+ with kids. So the merch they kept appealed to that, I guess. But yeah, the collection was downsized a ton because of the backlash and threats of violence to team members last year. Made me sad :(

According to the website the "pride movie star" bird is meant to be Tippi Hedren from "The Birds" which I've never seen so I'm not sure if Hedron is gay or if her character is or if she's a queer icon like Judy Garland? But they don't mention a reference for the poolside bird so🤷♀️
