I would not recommend the water tap method. Most city water has between 55-75 psi pressure that can damage the Sawyer. You would need some kind of pressure regulator to do so safely.

Filter and little blue coupler fit on to garden hose tap. No need for all the other parts.

Yeah but how do I get all of the water out of the filter so it doesn’t mold????

Blow/shake as much water out of it as you can.
Then mix a solution of about 1 tablespoon of plain bleach to a cup of water and push that through the filter like you were filtering dirty water.
Shake/blow as much of that out as you can, then stand it up to drain/dry for a couple of days.
Been using this method to store my Sawyer over the winters for about the last 5 years or so. Still works like brand new.
One thing though: the first time you use it afterwards, run a couple of pints of clean water through it to chase out any leftover bleach residue. It won’t hurt you, but tastes like swimming pool...yuck!

They say your should tap the filter in your palm and do the procedure again. This will get a lot more dirt out.
