Thanks for the info! I was thinking about using the clips until I saw your video. I am thankful I took a couple extra minutes to do a little research and you warned me before I messed up.
The driverside and passenger side bulbs take the same harness, which has the same two wires. Sounds like a trip to the junkyard is in order to see what fit fits. Cut, solder it up. Will work
My left headlight works in the winter, does not work above 40 degrees. Constantly going through bulbs as well. Both regular and LED's. Was at the point both went out. Original owner had the same problem not too long after new. Is the harness the issue in these? Because If you look at Sliverados coming at you on the road, 50% will have a headlight out....at least in my area.
What’s causing this problem?? Just purchased my 3rd headlight harness and the connector was damaged again due to overheating/burnt I need help on this one. 2012 suburban also thinking in just replacing the lights with LED Lights
It may be caused by a short in the engine compartment fuse box. I had to replace the whole box eventually because the OEM connections are weak, wear out, and cause intermittent connections, leading to overheating.
Good video, how did these pigtails hold up? Ive have to replace mine every year for the last 4 years on my 2008 silverado, the driver side always goes out first followed by the passenger
You should have taken out the engine and fenders to make that connection much easier. Thank you for sharing. My connectors got extremely brittle in this Arizona heat, while changing the lights and grille, I ended up with broken connectors. I was looking for something built better.
@@thejungleexplorer ... man, now it’s the brake ones too. Thank goodness LMC had it all. I had everything replaced in 2009, and in 12 years, this heat has dry rotted everything again, even under the dashboard. Got all the wiring ordered, should be here by Wednesday and I’ll be painting the truck next week. Watching your video convinced me to do the connections before putting the truck back together. Thanks for the tip.
Would this work also on a 2005 gmc sierra? Issue though is the connectors are corroded inside. Not sure if that means there is also another issue of water getting into connector.
I got the same problem with my 2011 silverado. It's hard to see how u sodder the wires with your hands in the way. I see It's a very small work space. I'm trying to figure out if I do it your way doesn't the wires have to be touching together so that voltage to flow into one another ? u did yours separately. I'm just trying g to understand.
I definitely recommend disconnecting the battery when doing ANY work on ANY wires on a vehicle. If the two wires touch, yall blow a fuse or worse causing more work! Hope it worked out!
So I have put in 4 plugs and can’t keep it from going out. They will be fine for a month and then go out again. All I have to do is wiggle the wire and the socket will work. They all develop a loose connection it’s so frustrating.
@@MWDAdventures So you are saying hat the connection is coming apart? Did you watch my whole video? I talk about the reason it is necessary to solder the wires. A regular crimp connection is not sufficient because it will heat up due to resistance.
The headlights only have power to them when the car is turned on. Additionally, it is very difficult if not impossible to be shocked by low voltage DC power in a car.
This seems to be a problem on these models. I have not had this problem since I abandon using the halogen bulbs and moved to these Cougar Led headlights ua-cam.com/video/UB77rPBQFNw/v-deo.html #ad
That is still incorrect take the Delphi took apart and put repair is the correct way of doing that even faster than by solder solder will remove the coating of the copper and corrode

I've had a shit ton of problems with my drivers side headlight harness as well, this video helped me do it myself and saved me another 150 lol thanks
So glad it helped.

Same problem with my 2007 thanks, just got to practice the saudering now.

just bought a whole new harness, ac delco updated the design to prevent this from happening
Can you send a link to the harness

Same in my area and not just the pickups. I bought a complete new harness on ebay for $13.00 no need to cut

Go with the ceramic version of this plug end , hand oils won't melt it like the plastic one.
Thanks for the info.

How do u know what wire to connect when ur connector socket is both wires black? The one on t truck is 2 different colors??
They are different colors
Not when you buy the wire harness from Napa they are both black.
It won't matter...

This video was made before I discovered Solder Connect ors. Here is what I use now. #ad amzn.to/3TvK6ge
Did you have to disconnect the power from the battery to do this or it’s fine to leave it how it is?

Can you depin those connectors??🤔
So far so good.
@@thejungleexplorer hey, what about splicing the wires and using electrical tape to hold wires in place??
I highly recommend solder connectors like these for all splices.

I have not had that problem with my van. Can you tell if it is a bulb design problem or is it a problem with the connector?

Do you have to take your battery off 1st so you don't get shocked?
