  • We gave three classic photobooks to two reading groups. They usually read novels, what would they make of Robert Frank's The Americans, Stephen Shore's Uncommon Places and Nan Goldin's The Ballad of Sexual Dependency? We also asked three experts, Caroline Blinder, David Campany and Catherine Grant to introduce the books.

    I wasn’t sure I’d be interested in a discussion like this.....and end up wishing it had carried one for another half an hour. As a photographer who mainly to to photographers abour photography, I found their interpretations fascinating.

      I think this was filmed nearly ten years ago, so possibly not.

    This was a very revealing documentary from the point of view of a photographer. I was immediately struck by how the participants interpretations of picture based books were largely constructed for them already by a narrow set of societal judgements and social judgements as oppose to impartial aesthetic judgements. 👍☘
