Riki's coolness seems to come from sheer amount of energy he puts into his roles. He looks like he's loving every moment on-screen. Ironically, this is exactly what you don't want to do when being cool, but Riki's coolness also seems to come from the fact that he can do that and come off as even cooler.

Yup, in my mind, this is totally canon in the Yakuza universe. This is totally Awano before becoming a Dojima lieutenant. After this hard and brutal mission, he realized that he prefers a more comfortable life instead. Also, I love how Riki Takeuchi always looks as if he just smelled a horrible fart.
I found my copies of the DVDs on Yahoo Auctions. You can probably also get them on like Amazon Japan or other retailers, but they're pretty overpriced to buy new. They might be on also some streaming services but... most Japanese streaming services are IP/region locked so you'll need deal with a VPN for that.
