Awesome notice 'Parrot t.v' birds are not meant to be caged!
cages resemble a prison. If people don't have the time to spend with a bird they should reconsider buying them, adopt for a while.... not all birds sing, dance & talk, but when you connect with your bird there is no need for conversation it is a beautiful thing, knowing understanding your birds needs and when they understand your needs it is really something else!

Hi, Ali :) I can't express enough of how important your comment is. You've hit the nail on the head. I even cringe at having to use the word "cage", ever. My birds have "houses" ;) for night night time only (and they appreciate having their own personal house to sleep in at night. So much so, they all put themselves to bed every night at the same exact time lol! They tell me when it's bedtime). When it's wakeup time, they tell me (always the same time every day) and those house doors get opened nice and wide, and stay that way until they tell me it's bedtime. I try to express the importance of freedom to a flock-when the occasion arises within conversation, but it's going to take a lot of us continuing to "preach" proper bird guardianship (like you're doing here) to overcome centuries of bad bird care practices and language. People have often positively commented on my "bird room", I try to explain that it's Not a bird room, it's our entire home :) I have the house set up in such a way that there are no doors that people exit and enter from where the birds free fly all day. I'm literally typing this at my desk (surrounded by trees and birds flocking and chatting everywhere) in what would be a living room/dining room that is not used for either purpose lol. We have java trees all throughout the house, perches on windows, perches in the kitchen, lol, EVERYWHERE. It's a bird house that happens to have humans living here too ;) Having birds is an all or nothing lifestyle in my book. So different than having regular "pets". That's hard to get across to people that are new to birds and looking to adopt. That's why I tend to steer people clear of adopting birds if they don't work from home (like I do) and/or like to go out a lot. They're daily physical and emotional needs are far too complex to just put them on a shelf when you don't "feel" like dealing with them. I agree with both of you. I wish i could utilize my whole house but not everyone loves birds the way i do. That being said i live with them in my indoor aviary. I just moved so its coming together but it really makes me smile that they have free roam with enough space. Just being around them, watching them and interacting with them gives me so much joy. Thank you for what you said Ali and thank you parrot t.v.!
@@randomaggie6455 OH! An indoor aviary sounds Awesome!! Congratulations on the upgrade (jealous LOL!). I know what you mean :) seeing my birds flocking everywhere and happy make me extremely happy too! It's the little things
My cockatiel is fully flighted and enjoys flying round my room, climbing and exploring. He has a flight cage that is rather spacious with plenty of toys and food to keep him busy. But, what some folks fail to realize is, exotic birds enjoy their cage time- they not only enjoy playing and perching in them, but the cage provides a feeling of security for them when sleeping or just wanting to be left alone sometimes. My Tweetie Pie's cage is open whenever I am home unless he asks for alone time, and I respect that.
