this video has some of the most beautiful prophet 5 sounds that I heard. it also makes me doubt if the rev 4 is worth it. no chance it can sound as good. and I was very sorry to reach this conclusion. I listened to a lot of different demos of the rev 4 and the prophet 10, and they sound good for certain things but this is a different creature. this thing here sounds smooth, organic, "perfect", my ears do not complain at any moment. when I listen to demoes of the prophet 5 rev 4 it often sounds harsh, metallic, not as smooth and perfect. it has this "to your face", clear and big sound, and the bottom end is very warm but again this instrument here is in another league. thanks for uploading
This might be like the only video on UA-cam where someone ACTUALLY makes usable, musical and ultimately beautiful sounds with the Prophet 5. But not only that actually knows how to play. You will not believe how rare that is on UA-cam.
we used to have a Harmonium in my aunt/grandma's side of the house, pedal activated, it's really mesmerizing when nobody hears you so you can sound stupid playing the harmonium, well i was 3 year old
I really do not give this synthesizer the credit it deserves. I always understood how significant it was, being the first of its kind. by the time I first learned about it, I was already becoming attached to the six-note architecture of my JX-8p. Don’t ask me what has failed to tempt me about the Prophet 5 that *has* appealed to me about the Take 5 and TEO-5.
I wish I knew how you were using reverb here. It sounds so good. I normally am not a fan of it but the way it supports these sounds here is exactly what I'm after. If you could impart some wisdom on how you used the lexicon it would be much appreciated thank you
perfect video! have tried the Prophet 5 a few times in a shop and I am sure I want to sell my Rev2, not because it's a bad synth but they have a different soul.
I know for some people the Prophet 5 is massively overrated. But I love it's sound, bold, huge full of character and the machine is versatile, at least for a skilled programmer. Your playing is so beautiful and the sound choice fits perfectly. 13:50 - the second chord is directly taken from David Sylvian's album Gone to Earth. He used the P5 a lot. One reason, I love it. I can't afford a Prophet 5. But furthermore, I don't want to have another vintage unit any more. As all my vintage synths are breaking apart one by one at the moment. So, I gave the Behringer Pro-800 a try and I admit they have recreated the P5 very well. Doesn't have the same brilliance but it's great sounding on its own and capable of everything, the P5 can do. Plus 3 voices more and extremely snappy envelops and the modifications. I patched it a lot and yeah: perfect alternative for all people who do not have enough money for the original and do not want the maintainance stuff with vintage units. ❤
Yeah it's not a synth that covers everything compared to modern stuff... but it excels over everything in many areas... just pure tone... so many classic tunes done with it.
Truly exceptional combination of programming and playing. The first patch reminded me of the late Lyle Mays. Very inspirational and going to take this to my next session on my Prophet 08. 👍
The beauty of both the patches and your music is out if this world. 😍 Liked it after the first 4 chords. Really! The jazzy parts could be by Joe Zawinul.
Thanks, super playing. Many sounds I like but there are some of this Prophet sounds I don't like. I never get the hype about this synth and the new Prophet 5 Rev4 (I own a Prophet Rev2).
I also have a P08 Rev2, and it was my most-used synth for years. But except for the no. of voices and mod slots, the P5/10 blows it out of the water. Open your ears!
@@adrianh63 Hey Adrian How do you actually go from mono to stereo?? ...also with external effects?? Can you give the chain?? I am thinking of going to a Prophet 10....the new one...LOL
Ahhhhh the “sweetness” of the P5 … lovely.
Finally someone who can play!!!! Very rarely when it comes to synths!
That first patch is SO reminiscent of Lyle Mays. The greatest of all time. Rest In Peace 🙏🏼
...and no carefully staged succulents and trinkets. Bravo
Hahah right?

Thanks for your kind and generous comment. Hope you like other content published here. Best regards
I had both side by side. They absolutely nailed the sound. Sold the Rev 3.
Mellow AF. Just love the vibe... loosey-goosey modulation and all. Makes me wonder if any modern synths can get anywhere near this sound.

Oh yes, Night Passage knob is turned all the way. Love it.
The synth sounds fantastic, but it is really the playing that is the star here :)
thanks a lot!
Hi SynthientSound, a pleasure seeing you here. 😊
The best Prophet 5 demo on the net imho. Thank you Andre for the wonderful playing of this great instrument.

Dude!! You SOO deserve that synthesizer! Excellent playing and compositions! 🙂👌

That was absolutely wonderful. Those moving chord voices with that first patch is incredible.
ayy man this was mad good!!! thank U! did you learn to play like that by ear or studying in school/ w a teacher?
Thank you! I grew up studying classical piano and then fell in love with analog synths. Joe Zawinul is my greatest influence here. All my best
@ it’s very inspiring! Yeaa man analog synths can make life better for sure. Dreaming of a prophet 5/10 rn myself….. Zawinul is supercool
meraviglioso ❤
wicked skills
Great André!

Um grande instrumento e um grande músico. O Joe Zawinul, Lyle Mays e outros deram grande uso a este teclado..
NOT easy to impress me, but you just did. What a delightful improv
Beautiful! I'm hearing Zawinul vibes on this.
Best demo of the Prophet5 I've ever heard. Love your sounds :)
THANK YOU!

Thank you.
I love this it's very good for thinking
Muito bom
E aquele projeto #analogicon#synrh pra nós curtir.
Inspirador demais. Por favor grave um disco só com synths, André!
(não que eu também não ame vc tocando toda e qualquer outra coisa)
obrigado Danilo! está nos planos para um futuro proximo.

Some real Francis Monkman-type sounds in there.
cool
The patch starting at 4:11 - were my eyes deceiving me or did you use the mod wheel to detune the oscillators by turning the LFO waveform off?
You are a twin of Ryuichi Sakamoto circa 1984!
Rest in Power Sakamoto-SAN!
Most of the artistic icons, I grew up with, have died. 😢
Thanks, very nice playing.
This cannot be done with some chord or progression app for analphabets. ;)
I'd like that preset, please :D
open another window right when it gets it 12:13 its another world for your ear guys.
