Receiving PR from brands can be something amazing, but there is also some downsides that isn't often talked about. In this video I'm discussing why I find I find some brands actions as problematic when it comes to the PR aspect. The reason behind this video is to open up a discussion, not to spread hate towards any brands. I hope that you will find it interesting and feel free to give feedback in the comments. You didn’t come across as negative at all hun in fact I think more could be said. There’s so many amazing creators that would love for brands to notice them but for whatever reason they’re not being seen so I’m sure this video has helped so many, or will help so many realise that “oh maybe it’s not me” PR is so fickle as are some of the brands that send it, we’ve discussed this in depth & share pretty much the same opinion on it, it’s a great bonus to creating but it’s not a given & it’s also not always easy to deal with as you very fairly pointed out. You know how I feel about makeup that’s why I made the recent decision I made about PR as you know. In conclusion it’s a wonderful bonus to have as a creator as you said but also as you said there’s up sides and downsides to everything. I would say the number one important thing to remember when you get any PR is HONESTY, your followers trust is most important & that’s how as a creator you can make money in this industry, PR isn’t paying you but the amount of followers & their purchases through trusting your opinions will, so honesty is always the best policy, which is why we love ya hun 🥰 great video as always thank you 🙏
I might do more videos about this topic in the future, because as you say - there is so much more to be said. Exactly, there is both ups and downs with receiving PR, like most things in life! It's so important to be honest and I think it's something that a lot of creators forgets the bigger they get, unfortunately. Glad you enjoyed the video my friend

The possibility of receiving PR is so attractive that I never thought about the cons. I have never seen anyone speak so sincerely about this either. Thank you for doing it and being so honest. I think dreaming is free but I doubt they're going to put me on any PR list but you never know. You are so cute and nice that I love watching your videos. And your bloppers are very funny. A hug!

Thank you for talking about the other side of PR. I know when I am off my regular scheduled posting times, It makes me feel horrible. I don't want to let anyone down. I can see the stress behind getting a lot of PR. I think you are doing a fantastic job balancing everything. You make it look easy as well as beautiful. I love listening to you, seeing you. I don’t get a lot of PR but this year I’ve had a few brands send me one off items so I’ve been thinking about the topic more. One of the things I really wish I’d see more is brands rotating who gets PR - so it’s interesting to see the flip side of that and being a creator who stops receiving something from a brand and how that would make you feel. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!!
I'm so excited for you that you have started to receive PR. I know that it's a huge milestone for many creators, even though I think it's super important to remember to not take it for "granted". I definitely agree with you that it's great with brands who rotate their PR people - I love to see my friends getting opportunities! It's just that when the brands who sends PR to the same people over and over, but doesn't include you, it kind of make you excluded from it. For me it's not so much about missing out on the products, but the feeling of "what did I do wrong?", if you get what I mean? To addition to this, some of those brands did totally stop to interact with my posts while they were super supportive before. It kind of hurts to get replaced by bigger creators, even though that I understand why brands does it. Thank you so much for watching and sharing your perspective on it

I’ve never gotten pr (at least, haven’t accepted any yet. most of the brands in my dms seem to be scammy lmao) but still loved hearing what you had to say on this topic! If I ever do get any PR I’ll keep everything you said in mind! I can see how it would quickly become overwhelming, and ugh the random launches annoy me too just because it’s like… can I get some notice on this? Most of the time I can’t just randomly buy a product on first launch, especially when it’s so out of the blue. I bet that would be frustrating as the creator trying to post about it when you already have other content lined up! Thank you for talking about this and for always keeping it real with us. Oh yes, there is a lot of scammy "brands" circulating around so it's important to do some research before accepting PR! The random launches is especially hard for me since I live in Sweden, so I won't get it in time before the launches sometimes.I'm glad you found the video informative
I always openly accept your product feedback. Anything to make them better. 🤷🏻♀️
And I quit accepting pr (other than lashes) a few years ago just because it was all too overwhelming. I took a break and used from my own stash and did so many fun looks. After a week from my “break”, I came back and basically quit it all. Makeup wasn’t fun anymore because of the requirements.

I totally understand the feeling of being overwhelmed by PR. I try to only work with brands that doesn't bring me that kind of stress and pressure. When it's starting to feel like a job, all the fun of it goes away! I'm so sorry to read that you had that experience. I hope that you're enjoying to use your own stash! To answer your questions… I receive a small amount of PR and when I do it’s wildly appreciated. However I can relate to everything you’ve mentioned. The hardest part is when you are already stressed from regular life and there is a pile of PR staring at you to be used and filmed. I create as a hobby/side hustle and I never want it to feel like a real job.
Thank you so much for sharing your perspective on this - super interesting that you relate to it too! PR is so fun, but when it starts to feel like a job, it can get the opposite effect. That's when I know it's time for me to slow down. Or rather, the brands should slow down with their releases too 🤭 Even if I live and breath for makeup (not even overexaggurating 😂), I want to be able to use it. But by the time I recieve the products that I have bought myself, they're considered as "old". It's crazy 🙈 Not that I really care about it from a consumer aspect, I will still use the products. But from a creator aspect, it can get frustrating because it seems like you never can "catch up" 😂💙 anyhow, thank you so much again for contributing with your opinions about this topic 🤗

I think that the ghosting part might be one of the worst things, because they're not only missing out on a creator, they're missing a potential customer. How do you feel when brands does this to you? @@sminkberoende I was recently ghosted by a brand that initially offered me PR, I went ahead and created content, several looks, swatches etc… after I did that they reached out to me and I had a conversation with them about being paid for future content. I thought the conversation went well, I understood that I wouldn’t be paid much due to the brand being fairly new. Needless to say it took my reaching out after almost 2 months of not hearing anything before I got a response back, which included that they’re re-thinking their marketing strategy, but perhaps they’ll be in contact with me in the future. So their product now sits on a shelf because of how this situation was handled….
Oh no, the fact that you already created the content for them makes it even worse! I don't understand why brands can't be more transparent from the beginning. I'm so sorry that it happened to you. :(

I have had several brands reach out to me and then disappear. It’s very frustrating. PR would be fun but at the same time the commitment seems quite stressful.

It's definitely a valid feeling! As I mentioned in the video, PR is never obligated - but even I feel that way sometimes. For me it's more a worry about disappointing the brands with my content (which sounds ridiculous when I write it like this) - what if they don't like the looks I create with their products? But then I have to remember - they send me PR for a reason, and that's because they like my content. It's still a thought that is hard to brush off sometimes though.
I do wish I could get PR just to try new things because, broke. But I also understand the burn out. I got some graphic liners in Feb from a brand and haven’t tried them yet. 🫣🫣
Oh yes, it's definitely not only downsides towards it! Sometimes I miss the times when I just could use whatever I wanted/felt like though 🤭
