Owned an E46 325i for a year and a bit. Ignoring the issues it had, it was a lovely car to drive. However, the issues got too much for me and I ended up selling it - to get a 330Ci 6spd manual with half the mileage. Having a far more enjoyable time with this one! Had it for just over a year. Living in South Central England, I've been to Nurburging, Lands End, Wales, Beachy Head, Durdle Door and Bedford Autodrome. Plan to go back to the 'ring in it again later this year. For the money, I really cannot rate it highly enough.
@@samcooke6233 It used a LOT of oil. I replaced all manner of parts - worst of which was the oil filter housing gasket. I believe it would've been the piston rings having failed and letting oil into the combustion chamber, as I remember getting blue smoke. Then there was a massive coolant leak, and I broke the reservoir trying to get it off, so ended up just selling it for spares/repairs. Oh and the black trim around the rear window was loose and often came off, and a new one was over £200. I paid £1,500 for the car and it had already cost me a lot of money so I called it quits. I still have the 330Ci and it's still doing me really well!
After watching this video and reading a few comments, I'm sold, I'm buying one, I've never owned a RWD before so stepping out into unknown waters, I currently own a 307 HDi (Diesel) which again, I've never own a diesel before this 307 I got now and tell you the truth, I love my little 307.... I'm still keeping it and having the 330ci at the same time, just a case of finding a good 330ci I'm hoping for no older than a 2002..... They ain't bad on insurance either, I got a quote on a 330ci which was just shy of £400 and my 307 costs £450 so.... makes sense to buy one.... Hopefully I enjoy the RWD side of driving....... Thank you for a good review and helping me with my quest of buying one.
These E46's needs to be facelift with the M-Sport kit with no spoiler, when they're not, it seems very cheap. However great review, straight to the point, keep it up. By the way, love that Hum of a 330ci
How have I never found this channel, great review mate will have to check out some others. I picked up a 330ci two months back with the ZHP bumpers and top spec, love it to bits and was a bargain at £4000 with only 60k on the clock.
I think this guy is forgetting the main part of having an E 46 is the maintenance cost, I have one and it cost a lot of money to maintain and look after
i love your reviews, literally brilliant!!!!!!!!!!!!! i have a 450bhp e92 m3 with a few neighbour upsetting mods and live in west Sussex, would love for you to do a review of mine....
Also I don't think these came with LSD's from the factory otherwise they would've been perfect for the drift scene. The M3's came with LSD from the factory though.
+JUNAID187 yeah i didn't no when jumping in this one that only the m3's came with LSD's. as these are getting cheap you would just weld the diff up tbh
They drive so much better with all the traction control turned off. Hold the button down for 5 secs to get 2 yellow lights up on the dash. A lot more responsive
The E46s are definately becoming popular in the drift scene. When I went to the King of Europe drift champ, there were loads of em, filled with 2JZs. :)
+Lanre Oladejo, Don't know if you're in the United States, but Turner Motorsports sells them. Depending on the gear ratio, limited slip unit, and other variables you choose, the price varies from $1,700-$3,000+.
at last a BMW ;). e46s dont come with lsds mate, only e46 m3s. early 328i e36 sports/some 325i e36s did and obv e36 m3s had the slipper. You can fit lsds into 330s but they are pricey! or weld them up like drifters although im not a fan for a road car! skipping comes to mind...lol
+Kash V aaa thats why i wasn't sure, of cause i didn't want to find out but sending it sideways to find out haha! yeah a welded one would be the most cost affective but not the best idea for an every day car
+Jamie_FYD agree not being your car and all that lol. Bit about the M3 you mentioned, ive got a 'sorted' 328i e36 sport with m50 inlet remap etc. Drove a e36 m3 3.0 complete diff beast, proper race style engine way it feels and drives. Try to get one of those to review ;)
Right listen right now if you've been hiding you inner petrol head from the queen bee blag this car get up Sunday morning twist your cap back n get your top up
A kid on my street has one of these in silver, sounds and looks lovely. I always like the 'M' version of these, you can get those now for 12-15k with decent mileage.
+MrAdds yeah it all depends if you want a good milage met condition one, do no a couple of M3 owners that have bought cheaper ones and have had to do rust repair and welding done!
+Omar Gujjar I've just had a look on gumtree and the ones for 8-9 grand have sky high mileage. But theres a decent one with 38k for 14.500 decent mileage to me is no more than 50k in a petrol engine , and especially an oldish european luxury car, because when things start to go wrong on them at 70k+ miles it can be expensive luxury! And trust me I know, my grandad has been buying Mercedes for the last 20 year and as soon as he gets to 40-50k miles he sells and gets a new one because they are nothing but trouble when they have lots of miles on the clock. I would never put my hard earned money into a high mileage luxury car.
+Omar Gujjar I've also just been on Pistonheads and the ones for 8-9k have got very high mileage. The ones with decent and excellent mileage are 12-20k, I was looking at them on there not so long ago thats why I said that price range. And if I was to get one it would be a looked after low milege one, In the beautiful terquoise color, I seen one driving about near me and that sparked my intrest to look at them.
Daniel Iv still got my old one in the garage, they are not FAST by today’s standards but do shift. It’s a different sort of performance as today nearly everything is turbocharged. To get these going you realy need to go all the way threw the revs BUT it’s the package as whole which is why I won’t sell mine nothing handles and is more fun on twisty lanes then a old BMW in my opinion
Me and my dad built a 330ci sport as a track car that we share with a friend... Such a solid car on track and had a nice comfortable interior before we ripped it out haha... The 3.0l straight 6 engine is so bulletproof as well and sounds mint when decatted
+Jamie_FYD it was awesome mate well worth it for the price you can get into it for... About £3500 - £4000 all in and tons of fun although I can't drive it yet till I pass my test :(

What issues did you have

No factory LSD on any E46 other than the M3.
guys not got a fucking clue about cars
facelift 6 speed m sport is the spec to have
@Danny Leon but unfortunately they are only 5speed..
Like mine :)
No chance..
@@PuttericThe1 5 speed is the better gear box idc
I still dont understand why people buy SE models especially on the e46
Mr No Name what does SE mean?
@@Krezo200 It's the Saloon version I think.
@@owenh6448 nah SE is the spec level, SE is basically poverty spec, but even they arent THAT badly specced

+Dominic Bradley thanks man!! :)

+Ze Germanz thanks dude!! iv just picked up a 318 for a daily and loving it
I think this guy is forgetting the main part of having an E 46 is the maintenance cost, I have one and it cost a lot of money to maintain and look after
+Drake King what were you maintenance costs on which parts? i always leave every car up for discussion on costs
And if you know how to use a spanner they’re super easy to work on. Parts easy to get too.
what about reliability? ive heard the 330ci models are prone to break - alot of maintenance required to run these things
They just have very nit picky owners and expensive main dealers.
Not if you get a good one
Please please please if all you know is front wheel drive stay away from the loud peddle when it's wet you've been advised
Great car, great fun
i love your reviews, literally brilliant!!!!!!!!!!!!! i have a 450bhp e92 m3 with a few neighbour upsetting mods and live in west Sussex,
would love for you to do a review of mine....
No lsd :/
Dont think they come with LSD, if it does, you have found a unicorn......definetly get an LSD....change the driving dynamics
Opinion on the e46 m3 compared to this?
Also I don't think these came with LSD's from the factory otherwise they would've been perfect for the drift scene. The M3's came with LSD from the factory though.
+JUNAID187 yeah i didn't no when jumping in this one that only the m3's came with LSD's. as these are getting cheap you would just weld the diff up tbh
There is no comparison.
Mainly the big difference in prices in general I think with an m3 😂
u wanna review my E63 AMG
+Navneet Murti id love to man, want a E63 myself
Didn't drive this how they should be drove! No revs atall and changing gear too soon.
my handbrake is shit
Fuck that I need a car with good door handles.
They drive so much better with all the traction control turned off. Hold the button down for 5 secs to get 2 yellow lights up on the dash. A lot more responsive
VERY TRUE
The non-sports are so meh looking.
Valencio Danes non M-sport versions.
They are stealth

+Toby Wilks haha yeah 2JZ one's would have to be the way to go of cause ;)
It would have been handy to know the cost of the car, the mileage etc.
another good vid:)
Brilliant video, although the 330Ci doesn't come factory with LSD but can be fitted with a very good LSD which will completely change the feel car.
Where can we buy an LSD and how much?
+Lanre Oladejo, Don't know if you're in the United States, but Turner Motorsports sells them. Depending on the gear ratio, limited slip unit, and other variables you choose, the price varies from $1,700-$3,000+.
hitmanlee3673 ok thanks they are pretty as expensive as buying another e46. Can't one but it used ?
Jamie Did you prefer Driving this or the Remapped E46 330d
I love my 330i M Sport. Check out Andy Sapp. His 46 is a drift weapon.
Brill vid again man!
Volvo or Saab review for us Swedish nuts please !!!

Raspriatma Caesar wat
my father has an E46. every month he fixes something on it, even though it was a garage queen.
