Expensive proposition, but I would just drop the engine out, have a proper rebuild done and go through everything else when you're putting it back together. Then you should be good in that dept for a few years at least. Good luck!
Regardless we’re going to work on the motor and do it right, I think what he meant more so is removing the fuel tank so that we can keep the motor on the car

We’re going to open up the crankcase hopefully today and see what damage we have and hopefully at this point it’s just the bearings
