This project (Super Castlevania 3) wasn't been abandoned yet, one of the devs reappeared recently to apologize for the long hiatus and to say that they're still working on it. The other fangame that you mentioned is probably Castlevania Chronicles: Dracula's Curse. Last time I checked it wasn't looking that bad. Dunno if they're still active, though. Both of these projects were being made in MMF2, if I'm not mistaken. I think there's also a third fan-remake that was also called Super Castlevania 3, but that one was being made in GM8. Also seems like a dead project. Gamedeving as a hobby can be very time consuming, and if you're not very organized and disciplined it's really easy to get lost in the middle of the road. I say that from experience.
yeah it seems he did a lot. this is basically almost the whole game here. he definitely should continue. i like how it looks and plays. but sometimes i wish people put this level of effort into making something of their own. this is an amazing effort. i say this because once they finish making these games, the companies always comes with these cease and desist letters (which they have a right to do so) and it's sad because of all the work that was put into making it. i hope this gets finished and get released like that metroid 2 remake damn nintendo dropped the ball on that. they should have went to the creators, bought the game from them, repackaged it and sold it on the Nintendo E-shop
@@a.k.8195 I don't know about that one.. if you compare it to All-Stars, it doesn't hold up as well in terms of polish, and that's the idea with this type of release. I felt Gaiden was lackluster with both graphics and sound. I remember playing it and thinking, "Why'd they even bother with this game if they weren't going to put forth enough effort to set it far enough apart from the games it's supposed to be improving upon??" I suppose my entitled self should (and can) appreciate having the Trilogy, warts and all. I'd be happy enough to have such a Castlevania. Your idea is still valid; we'll take what we can get, right?
This looks awesome. I'm glad Alucard plays more like SOTN style, rather than the original Caslevania 3 style with that shitty 3-way fireball that did exactly zero damage.
as bad as I hate to admit it, SCV3 is officially dead. how do I know? bc I am reiko26 one of the creators with PT. the game was 85% complete. it died bc we kept having more dieas which added to it by trying to put curse of darkness chars in to make them fit and other remixed ideas. eventually we burned out. coders and other spriters left. so it stuck pete and I in a position to where we couldnt move forward. anyone that has it, is more than welcomed to carry the torch. the bosses are there and all the stages are complete. just needs the coding to be finished and there, youd have a complete fan remake
So close but so far away huh, that's too bad. Sounds like you didn't have a clear plan to the finish. Maybe one day you can pick up again, with new coders and spriters.
I hope a team is assembled to finish the project, it does look solid. I feel adding Curse of Darkness references wouldn't have been necessary. Keep us posted as to whether or not someone does this or not.
I like this version simply due to the fact it combines aspects of the future castlevania games after this, like the Horse Rider, Golem, and the mansion from CV2.

Great video, I really want an Aria of sorrow remake. Aria of Sorrow is an amazing game but you can't deny it wasn't quite as good as it could have been because it had to be a GBA game. Graphically I want a game that looks like your playing Ayami Kojima's art.
Konami sadly still owns it, but their idea of utilizing the license now is slapping it on a pachinko machine these days versus making a new game in the series. Konami in general sucks ass nowadays.

THIS LOOKS AWSOME! It has enemies and stags from all 4 original Castlevania gamee like enemies, stags and music , along with some new stuff so never know what to expect. This is how remakes should be made.
The only part that resembles CastleVania 3 is the first level, and the final boss is not the final boss of that stage in CastleVania 3. That is just the horse knight from CastleVania 4, instead of the skull knight. Hell most of the stage 1 is actually from Rhondo of Blood, as well, even in layout and barely resembles CastleVania 3. Every stage after the first stage seems to be ripped from other locations throughout the CastleVania franchise, or even just created with inspiration from said franchises. The second stage boss was ripped from Bloodlines for instance and again doesn't show up in CastleVania 3. Calling this Dracula's Curse is rather deceptive, basically.
The Nostalgia Factor The sprites of Trevor, Alucard, and many of the enemies were from both Rondo of Blood and Symphony of the Night. (I think Trevor, Alucard, and Sypha are exclusive to SotN)
That “The Beginning” track that was used in this remake is godly. Definitely need to know where they got it from or if it was made just for the fan made game

However, since this fan game borrows tracks from other Castlevania games (such as the second stage using the Forest of Monsters track for Super Castlevania 4) I would assume the first level is borrowing The Beginning track from an official Castlevania game as well. Question is, which one though?

IMO Vampire killer is still the best version on the original Castlevania, along with Bloody Tears from CV2. However music box Vampire Killer is pretty epic as it gives it a creepier feel :)
Three things about Castlevania 3:Dracula's Curse needed in my book was 1. Switch between all 4 characters 2. Each character has their own life bar and 3. Be able to have more music from all Castlevania games throughout the Series

Pretty obvious he started getting bored copying CV3 levels and started mixing up new level design after a few screens because he starts copying CV2, CV4, and other games before we're even out of the first level. I hoped he'd at least recreate the iconic stained glass (which required a special graphics chip back in the day) but instead he just did random colors. Hey if he wants to make a Castlevania megamix that's awesome and I know people would play it, but don't call it CV3 remastered if it's a completely different game.

Some people blame Super Castlevania 4's 8-way whip as to that games easy difficulty. It can break the game if the enemies aren't changed to compensate for the new mechanic.
I swear if Konami teased this exact remake today I'd be happy to give them 40 USD for it. I know that probably wouldn't be the typical reaction but something like this deserves my money more than some bullshit like Contra: Rogue Corps. I hope this project is still going, it looks fantastic and deserves praise.

Way better than the clunky, poorly aged NES version. I know a lot of people like that game, and it did have good ideas, but I think it was held back by a few problems. You can play as more than one character, but you could only take one extra character at a time (probably hardware limitations, but still inexcusable), everybody BUT Trevor could die in a matter of seconds because Trevor can take a few more hits for some reason, the difficulty was so bad because of how inconsistent it was, and for some god forsaken reason, only Grant had the most fluent control scheme, whereas everyone else controlled like pieces of wood. I'm just glad to see that someone made a version of the game that doesn't suffer from those glaring flaws. 9/10
Casltevania 8: Super Dracula's Curse. Dracula has Returned again and Trevor has been resurrected from the dead to fight Dracula again due to the belmont bloodline being cursed because of Shaft so Trevor had to take the vampire killer as a Zombie.
I've had this demo for years, as well.... SCV4 was my favorite classic Castlevania, and this is going to be amazing if they finish it! I'm glad its gone quiet; less of a chance for any legal teams to notice it. Good work everyone!
My biggest question is how having Castlevania IV whip mechanics will affect the challenge. I thought IV was easy compared to III, even on hacks with the AI and challenge ramped up because of said mechanics. Will they be compensated for in the final product?

Think Dracula should have 3 fire skeleton heads shoot out of cape instead of small knife and should be able to bite the bad guys to get super powers and upgrade

I sometimes had the fear of running out of time in Castlevania 1 NES. As I thought, you loose a life when you run out of time.
That version of 'Beginning' fits perfect with an SNES CV3. Outstanding.
Also, that's a great version of 'Prelude'.

My biggest question is how having Castlevania IV whip mechanics will affect the challenge. I thought IV was easy compared to III, even on hacks with the AI and challenge ramped up because of said mechanics. Will they be compensated for in the final product?

Black Pants I would say that to compensate that, change the behavior of the monsters, making they more similar to the Metroidvania games, here they have more movements,in other words, more agile.
