There are a million Jenna Ortegas out there, but only one Neve Campbell. Ortega fell into this role, it was grandfathered in for her, and none of these new characters would exist without the originals of Sid, Randy, Billy, Stu, Tatum and Dewey. Sidney Prescott is the true face of Scream, and always will be.
@@HandlesTheCyberman Sidney Prescott is the holy grail for whoever potentially dons Ghostface's costume. None of the killers have managed to kill her yet, but she'll always be the ultimate target. Sam is a mere consequence of Ghostface, her sister Tara even more so. She'll have to be a killer pretty soon cause reasons for her to continually be a heroine are just unrealistic. She's the illegitimate daughter of a serial killer, that's it. A serial killer who wouldn't have had the brains to carry out his atrocities along with Stu Macher without the guidance and direction of Roman Bridger, who in turn wouldn't have been pushed over the edge himself with jealousy to mastermind the Woodsboro murders in the first place if Sidney had never existed to take his place as Maureen Prescott's 'legitimate child'. All roads lead to Sidney in Scream, they always have. What possible reason would anyone have to want Sam & Tara dead at this point? Ghostface would've remained 'Father death'... just another cheap Halloween costume with zero meaning. Indeed, 'Ghostface' would never have been born without Sidney existing. She'll always be the heroine, and the only feasible direction Sam can take now is to follow in her father's footsteps, cue Sidney saving the day... it's the only way. Otherwise, this whole thing will just turn into a drab spin-off with ever more ridiculous and ever increasingly irrelevant motives. Save the good chase scenes and extra gore, it's beginning to look like it already.
@@HandlesTheCyberman I'll run with that idea. Now that Sam and Tara are inevitably involved, they have to play their part. Combining old with new at this juncture is the only feasible way to wrap things up sensibly for Scream, it can't go on forever. Everything fizzles out eventually, it has to. I've loved Scream since I was 21 years of age back in 1996, but I wouldn't be paying to see a Scream part 11 for example, because it just wouldn't be Scream anymore. As for plot ideas going forward, there are a million possibilities, and if Bettinelli & Co have any sense, are truly Wes Craven and Scream fans, then they'll use the past to their advantage. I mean, let's look at the options. We've got Stu Macher (who Kirby and Mindy whilst sat chatting in this latest installment hinted as to surviving) who could play a massive part in Scream 7 if the powers that be have enough vision to utilize cleverly. We've also got Martha Meeks, Randy's surviving sister and mother to Mindy and Chad. She would make a superb target. And what ever happened to Neil Prescott, Sidney's father? After Scream 3 he just vanished into the ether. If they could get Lawrence Hecht on board for Scream 7, that would be awesome. Then there's Sam and Tara's mother....who was she back in 1996 at Woodsboro high school? There are so many ways to do this. Leaving Sid to her 'happy ever after' is just not realistic, I mean she's taken Mark and their kids into hiding now, there's nothing happy about living that kind of life. They can make both the old and new fanbase happy here, but it's got to be done right. Personally, having Sam possessed by the memory of her father whilst enjoying the killer gene he passed down to her would be great. And if Stu was there to guide her in some way, well that would be nothing short of a masterstroke. It really is all there for the taking with Scream 7. Let's just hope they have the vision, forethought and common sense to do it right, and make it a reality.
@@HandlesTheCyberman I'm liking it 👍....my fear is they'll never listen and give true fans of the franchise what they want though, it's on a precarious precipice and could go either way really. There's only one way it should go really, and Randy coined it perfectly in Scream 3: "Whatever you think you know about the past, forget it. The past is not at rest'......'What you're dealing with here is the concluding part of a trilogy". Excluding Scream 4, since it was a stand alone film where a whole decade had passed, Scream 7 will be the concluding chapter of 5-7 (which have arrived another whole decade after), and ideally should be the final trilogy in the franchise since 2022. It's all there, all it needs is the right direction for the ultimate finale. The possibilities of how everything can ultimately come full circle are mouthwatering....let's just hope they don't screw the pooch.

grow up! in the wise words of jill roberts new movie new franchise, is time for a new lead and the new characters are amazing…gale and sidney are great but it was about time for something different and the fact that people of colour are the new survivors and leads as jenna said it herself make this 1000% times better ❤
@@itsokandres Scream has always been a more hopeful slasher franchise that allows its main characters to grow instead of killing them. There is no reason to kill off the old cast especially if Neve Campell doesn't come back. If this new trilogy only exists to get rid of the legacy cast and replace them with new characters then that's pathetic. Also why does people of colour being the new survivors make it better? It doesn't matter what their skin color is if the writing isn't good and while I like Sam, Tara, Chad and Mindy they are no where near as good as Sidney, Gale, Dewey and Randy. The fact that you are ok with just throwing away all of that amazing development is really sad. I imagine you'd be ok if they kill Gale even those she has one of the best arcs in all of horror going from an antagonist to hero.
@@idawg7332 Can we please stop with this rhetoric of acting like representation doesn’t matter? Having people of color matters because there hasn’t always been a space for them in cinema, especially in the horror genre. That’s one of the many reasons why people like Jordan Peele movies. Not only are they well-written, well-directed, and well-acted, but they highlight black characters. Stop trying to tell people that they shouldn’t care about skin color when, in the past, skin color was ALL that the film industry focused on when casting white actors in lead roles. People like you only say “skin color doesn’t matter” when it’s people of color being portrayed. You never said it when it was ONLY white people in movies.
@@7_ty_ Did I say representation doesn't matter or that people shouldn't care about it at all? No, I asked why does the new cast being people of color make the quality better and I said skin color doesn't matter if the writing isn't good. I like the new cast especially Jenna but them being people of color doesn't automatically make it good. You should learn how to read better before you respond. People like you encourage the industry to focus on skin color without worrying about the actual writing quality. You can have all the representation you want but if the writing is shit it doesn't help anybody. Nope was incredibly divisive so don't act like Peele is universally loved.
I hope you do realize that the whole 3rd act is a wake for Wes, also Wes likely would have killed Judy off within the next film or two if he were to have continued it. Plus David Courteney and Neve can't be acting the same roles forever.
