- For my regulars here, apologies guys...I know this turned out quite similar to the look I just did. In my defense, I planned an entirely different look but in broad daylight the two main shades I had in mind turned out to have slightly different tones and I was in such a rush this morning that one thing led to another and the end result was quite similar.
Don't worry, a whole week is coming! We will play a lot more with this palette in the coming days.
Yours is the review that matters to me for this release! If it gets your stamp of approval, that's good enough for me!

I’m so excited that the mega palette is completely the past quint formula! WOW!!! You knew!!! 🙌🏼 You are the true Pat info source. Your knowledge on the brand cannot be surpassed!! Since she’s not doing baked shades anymore, I have to say her quint formulas (especially mattes) are the most unique and special formulas the brand currently releases! I couldn’t be happier to have more of these shades! (I wish we had an all matte 5 pan. I love these mattes so much!) I also like that the insert is plastic. The last Mega I bought was Celestial Nirvana and that had a cardboard insert.
I now want the mega palette and the green duo. (I let my daughter have my Celestial Odyssey so I need that green back! Woot!!)
I’m surprised there was no code this release. I wish we knew why! Bad sign for the brand-like they couldn’t afford it…or Neutral sign for the brand-they heard everyone say you should never buy at full price because there are so many sales, so they will have fewer sales/codes going forward…or Good sign for brand health-they are doing so well they don’t feel the need to encourage purchases with a small discount.

Haha well I wish I could tell you that it was really hard to figure out but it really wasn't, it just needed a bit of attention and brand knowledge.

I agree there’s a learning curve with this formula. I didn’t care for it at first but it’s grown on me and less is definitely more with the metallics.

Now I understand the name Luminous Legends! Your swatches showed that the shadows are repeats (or in new formula) of the most hyped shadows from previous collections. Quite bright idea. I am not a collector so now is the opportunity to buy the best ones...

I’ll skip for sure the green duo. And for now I’ll wait on the Mega palette: it’s half pink/orange (first row and half mid row) so not my cup of tea… And among the remaining shades 2 are repeats.. The only shade I truly love is the lavender in the middle row but it’s very similar (both in color and texture) to one shade in TF Violet Satine, that I own… So honestly I should just skip this collection. Maybe if the Mega palette goes on sale, but even then I don’t know 😘
You should absolutely not buy this just for the lavender shade. We need to find you the Risque Rose quad stat!

I’ve only seen a couple of reviews, from Europe, as all U.S. orders ship on October 4th. I only know that because I contacted customer service, as I was beside myself seeing my order still “unfulfilled.” 😂 So that’s why there are so few reviews (you really have to dig, at this point)-the States haven’t even had their orders shipped!
I got all shadows except the black/gold duo, and after watching this review, I have absolutely zero regrets. Even when Pat’s formulas are not-great, they’re still stellar and I know that if I want impeccable shadow, all I have to do is reach for Mother (with Natasha being a close second). Very much looking forward to your full week of looks/final review, and hope you had a great work trip in Gay Paree [sic]! ❤

I’m all about the shiny and glittery, so it’s hard to skip this launch completely, but I’m going to wait for a sale. I was hankering for the green shade, but I have the other mega palette with the dupe, lol. It’s disappointing, but not unusual for Pat to dupe herself, sadly. I’m betting you’ll find more similar shades through the week, and I’m here for it!
I think this is a good strategy. Perhaps if you wait, you might even end up losing interest. That often happens to me.

I was afraid that the celestial jade is a similar to citrine envy but on another review its highly similar to Nocturnal Nirvana blitz astral quad green as well! I mean if this whole collection comes in a deeply discounted price I will still be buying all ! But so far I'm waiting 😌

I don't think Blitz Emerald is similar to Celestial Jade at all, they are completely different eyeshadows. Hope that helps!
YAY! I was so excited to see your video on this collection! Thank you for your thorough review and sharing your knowledge about the brand! BTW, I have the PML eyeshadow primer, and I don't find it works well with the quint formula, as the primer is also too emollient like the IntensifEYES. Both item (PML eyeshadow primer and IntensifEYES) has the same consistency, imo. That's one of the few items I don't like in the PML brand. Instead, I use the Fenty eyeshadow primer, which makes these quint shadows last from morning into the night. Can't wait to see your videos throughout the week and get my PML holiday collection, as it does not ship until October 4th.

If i didn't had the majority of the Motherships and 2 quads (the interstellar icon and nocturnal nirvana) i'd be tempted to buy this palette. It's daily friendly and pops of fun, but i have them already. Including Mothership 9 with that lilac baked shadow that looks similar with the Orchid opulence
You are entirely correct, none of these a re unique in any capacity even within Pat's own range.
I have never purchase any of the Christmas mothership pallets, this year is the year. Everything looks amazing and made in Italy

@@mariam.a. I don’t know if I just got unlucky or if it just went downhill in general but there’s been orders where I’ve had to double check it’s not been cancelled because over a week it still wasn’t dispatched. Almost two weeks before it left the warehouse.
They are using fedex this time though, it’s normally DHL

I don’t have “Celestial Odyssey”. I don’t have a lot of the quints either.
I would def describe it as neutral with a fun twist, I guess most of PML palettes are like that. I think that is part of the appeal.
Glad EU has good shipping now. Here in the US I'm still waiting for my order to be shipped, even after ordering on launch day....which is totally standard for them. 😂

Different warehouse, I guess the EU one was pre-stocked and ready to ship in time for the launch.
The celestial jade duo looks tempting for someone who has missed out on the older mega palette as the green/citrine envy dupe looks delicious. But the price of the duo has me firmly waiting for a sale.

Oh Mariam. I too am tired of people poo pooing PML products. It feels like a strange type of sport these days. Saying that I don’t really like this palette, for me anyway. The shadows look thick, heavy and way too glittery. Sure, ok for during the holiday season I guess. But objectively they the opitome of ‘aging’ shadows. I did see a young woman in her 20s use it and yes it looked fun, bright and blingy on her, but most definitely not a daytime look. I like that brown matte shadows though.
I mean a daytime look is whatever one wants it to be. I do think people on the tubes are often using way too much of these on their lids, that's why I recommend to use less than you think. I think they can look super pretty an ethereal when used correctly, but this formula is known to be sparkly.

Hmm I’m waiting to buy I don’t have any Megas aside from last years with the blushes I got both so maybe worth it for me. Although I do have all the Quints from last 2 holiday and star wars. Im torn but leaning towards get it.
Tough choice especially if you already have a ton of quints.
If this mega motherships lasts, you could of course purchase it in the sale.
This release is an easy pass for me, but I agree with you that overall, it’s a great collection! Thank you for your helpful comparisons. The only shades I was remotely interested in from the Mega palette were Lunar Luxury (which I already own and love), the lilac shade (I’m sure I have something similar, and after your comparison with Pale Amethyst, I think I prefer that one, especially since I’m more of a neutral lover these days), and the light blue shade (which I didn’t like when you swatched it). Once again, thank you for an epic review! I’m looking forward to your future videos where you try out and create multiple looks using these shades!
I am very glad to hear this was helpful. I actually really love the blue shade...I would happily take out one of the coralish shades to have a mint green in that formula too though.
I love this matte formula but the glitters are too wet, thick and flakey. I still reach for my quints for travel convenience but they’re not my first choice at home. I don’t like having to be so careful and to really smooth and spread it. That’s why I don’t enjoy the Danessa Myricks shadows as well. Hoping to find more baked shadow options from other brands. Wish Bobbi Brown would release and distribute more eyeshadows in the US!
I think Pat will not do baked anymore, but I am glad that I like the new quint formula...means I don't have to fully quit the brand. Sorry to hear you are not vibing with it. I have never tried DM, her palettes are too un-curated for my taste.
I'm glad she has improved her formula of holiday palettes. However, I really dislike this color story, or should I say, lack of color story and cohesion. This is a collection of random shades that go or don't go together.
I would not say it is improved, just different. I would call it a neutral palette with fun pops. I like it and it is very on brand for PML. To me for instance the DM Lightworks palettes are infuriatingly discombobulated. They are all just "the rainbow," but plenty of others seem to be into them so I guess it is matter of personal aesthetic too.

I fucking love the colour story, but I hate this formula LOL. Well, I guess I saved myself some money cause I was going to buy this but I just needed confirmation on the formula first. IDK why Pat Mcgrath seems to be the only brand who uses this formula tho. While KVD beauty used it once, and I do believe Haus Labs used a similar formula for their holiday palettes last year (all made in Italy), it is strange that PML continues to use this (only for the holidays tho).
I think because it is a well-loved formula. I know there are exceptions ( several people have shared that they don't like it as much or that it creases on them) but for the most part it seems to receive generally positive reviews.
