+Derek Gagne Yamaha has by far the best CVT drive. The Polaris and Cam-Am CVT is complete rubbish....seriously, stay clear of them, they eat Suspension bushes too.

One question Andy. Is it really necessary to change the differential and final gear oil. I have a mechanic living down the road from me who works as a mechanic at the local Yamaha dealership who tells me this procedure is not really necessary... ever. I suppose after years of grinding it might be a good idea but is the manual a little premature in it's recommendations for when to complete this kind of maintenance?

Oh dear....yes, the oil will become contaminated with metal particles and moisture over time plus it looses it's lubricating properties as the additives break down.
It is important it's changed, the frequency really depends on usage & working environment too
It's an inexpensive job and can greatly increase the components life - they are both very expensive to replace or even repair.
      Hope this helps
      Andy

He clearly stated fill till it leaks once it stops leaking out then you know you are good
Really not hard to understand him

I tell you, changing the metal washers on the drain/fill bolts, is about a useless act. Especially at $5 each.

sure its supposed to be filled until it comes out? 200ml and it took 250ml. The bastards at GM make there diffs so it has to be 3.17mm (1/8") below fill bung.
