Thank you for the clear explanation!
Thank you for all these how to vids on the viking. Im getting one in 2 days.and these videos are a life saver..#more#thanks
+Derek Gagne No problem Derek, they are an amazing vehicle & if well maintained & used correctly then will last you for years.
Cheers Andy
Awesome.im torn on a pioneer or viking.ill be doing mostly trials. My big worries are is Yamaha as dependable as honda...will the belt slip easy, are they fun as well as hard workers.what are ur thoughts...ty
+Derek Gagne Yamaha has by far the best CVT drive. The Polaris and Cam-Am CVT is complete rubbish....seriously, stay clear of them, they eat Suspension bushes too.
Have you ever rebuilt the front diff I am having issues with my front diff leaking from the front diff lock and wanted to see how I could just change that o ring
One question Andy. Is it really necessary to change the differential and final gear oil. I have a mechanic living down the road from me who works as a mechanic at the local Yamaha dealership who tells me this procedure is not really necessary... ever. I suppose after years of grinding it might be a good idea but is the manual a little premature in it's recommendations for when to complete this kind of maintenance?
Oh dear....yes, the oil will become contaminated with metal particles and moisture over time plus it looses it's lubricating properties as the additives break down.
It is important it's changed, the frequency really depends on usage & working environment too
It's an inexpensive job and can greatly increase the components life - they are both very expensive to replace or even repair.
Hope this helps
Andy
what size hose you using to help refill
So I’m curious what were you using to put the fluid it sounded like a hand pump of some sort
Yes, if I remember it was a large syringe- about the same size as a grease cartridge
Cheers Andy
wow.. thats a lot of rust... I got my'n and undercoated everything with fluid film.
And that’s how many quarts lol for us Americans
I have no idea sorry, drop onto Google and search for an online conversion calculator
Cheers Andy
Being American obviously means you can’t understand listening to English either apparently.
He clearly stated fill till it leaks once it stops leaking out then you know you are good
Really not hard to understand him
Tt Ss well I’m American but that doesn’t make me, I’m a follower of god Baptist Christian that makes me. I don’t care about the American flag could careless Jesus is who I pledge my life to so you can take your patriotic English bullshit somewhere else now have a good day 👈🏾👈🏾👈🏾👈🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
Tt Ss also I mean no disrespect but I didn’t get what he said as I was working so again good day
I tell you, changing the metal washers on the drain/fill bolts, is about a useless act. Especially at $5 each.
sure its supposed to be filled until it comes out? 200ml and it took 250ml. The bastards at GM make there diffs so it has to be 3.17mm (1/8") below fill bung.
ok thanks doing the 1st fluid change on my dads 18 Viking. Thanks for the great videos
Well done Andy, using OEM parts and fluids is my choice too. 👍
