Thanks so much for your comment. Zumba is NON verbal but in Zumba Gold we can help our people out by calling steps. Yes I probably do talk to much a habit from teaching line dance and calling steps. My seniors ask me to please call so they can keep up with the beat. They say they don't come to memorize steps and since they are a little slower but the time I do something they are just starting it without me calling it. So I do what the class ask of me. Each class is different.
Brenda thank you for sharing your ZG choreography.I too give verbal cues to my Gold participants, esp leading up to a transition, it is a solid way to make them feel successful . I am doing Footloose with your moves this morning in my ZG class, keep sharing your moves please.
Thank you for the sweet note. I remember my first time in a zumba class. The instructor would go one way and by the time I started that way she would be turned and going the other way. My class loves me because it I call it. I have other classes that have been with me longer and they know the routine and I don't say as much. But I do try to watch the class and meet their needs so they can have a good time in class.
Great job and ignore the negative people ! when I did my Zumba gold training in the UK we were told that it's fine to add verbal curing as an extra tool in gold. keep up the great work :)
zumba is NOT just non-verbal it is down to the instructor and sometimes people need to be able to hear when to turn etc Well done Brenda

Some seniors get lost because they are just there to exercise not to remember the steps.
