But Adam hasn't authorized the buttons for me -_-
BURRRRRN.
THAT'S AN ORDER!! ANY OBJECTIONS, LADY?!!
UA-cam buttons and searching authorized.
Adam is not satisfied with coppa
"Got any objections, Adam?"
Little late, but here's the debate.
Gameplay: Meh.
Graphics: Alright.
Story: Yikes.
Music: AWW YEAH BRUTHER.
Final opinion: Not Authorized.
music was mainly white noise bro. This was not white noise
@@GamingWithCalvin1 Right
Mick Vang The Music sounded like it was from Resident Evil 5/6, and that’s no good.
Nice rhyme on your first line
How is gameplay just -meh-?
At least thy didn't butcher Ridley's theme, this is actually one of the best arrangements I've heard.
Melody this is the best Ridley theme
Novus Talks omega Ridleys or meta Ridleys is the best one
Yeah but Samus getting sudden PTSD years down the line after being trained by the Chozo to block her emotions knowing at some point she'd have to confront Ridley was really stupid on Team Ninja's part
@@haydenbennett3547 I mean when you consider just how much effort Samus put into killing Ridley, the huge amount of disbelief she must have had at this point that he was still alive would definitely have shocked her enough. Maybe not to the point she felt helpless in the sense she couldn't fight him, but helpless in the sense that no matter what she did, she'd never be rid of him. That's how I perceived it.
@@haydenbennett3547 the chozo never trained her to suppress her emotions.
Say what you will about this game, but this is my favorite version of Ridley’s theme ever, and I will die on that hill.
Someone's offering Samus a cookie.
Samus: "Can I take the cookie, Adam?"
Adam: "F*ck you!"
Samus: _That great military mind!_
pretty much summarizes it.
YoU NeEd To BEe AutHoriZEd.
Ridley: I’m back bitches
Samus: (paralyzed with fear)
The only part of Other M which didn't suck. This is the best Ridley Theme to date.
Zologe i like otherm
its the best 3d metroid
wally castagnir Heresy, Glory to the Metroid Prime Trilogy!
Neo - Devil shut the hell up, mate.
Sheep Token nah, that honor goes to the original Metroid Prime 🔥🔥
personally, I think other M turned Samus into a needy brat. Its not my favourite but I can respect that its yours.
Even though Other M was pretty bad, this is easily the most kick-ass version of the Ridley theme!
Both Other M and Sonic '06 have very good music, I'm sensing a pattern...
Don't compare metroid other m with that piece of trash.
travis illerbrun Yeah, Other M's not THAT bad.
Ravage669 travis illerbrun I've never played either of them, I'm just judging by reviews, I don't think Other M is nearly as bad as Sonic '06.
Ravage669 Other M wasn't bad, it was different. Tons of story (and cutscenes). If I were to complain about Other M, it would be that the replay value is pretty much non existent and the voice acting was lacking in most parts. Played through it once, enjoyed it, not gonna play it again.
I actually really enjoyed Metroid: Other M. It may be because it was my first time playing a Metroid game. I agree the controls could've been better, but overall, the game is pretty solid. If Nintendo made another Metroid game with similar gameplay (With an analog stick instead), I'd definitely play it.
Wow, I'm impressed there's someone else who likes Other M. I actually do too, but I'll agree that a number of issues marred it in ways that it didn't deserve. The execution of Adam, the whole "authorization" mechanic, and some of the tone of Samus's monologues which could be completely baffling to someone who may not have played Super Metroid were kinda poorly done, but I won't say it KILLED the game like some will. I genuinely think there's good to it and I personally love how it began bringing in Samus's close-up and hand to hand tactics into the mix and really built on her fighting style, making her feel more fluid and badass for it than simply just gunning everything and that's all there is to it.
Other m has a Score of like 8,5/10 all these Comments are hating on minor things but the Game itself is good
This game is like the Sonic '06 of the Metroid series: Clunky gameplay, terrible story, great music.
Nope.
Kyndol Clark Agreed.
J mariosonic Gameplay was sub-pair not great, story was meh, and music... what real music was there besides Ridley's theme?
Samuel Heaton Agreed
I disagree on 1 thing, the gameplay was good, but i do agree with you on the other 2 things, crap story and awesome music
Other M is a good game.
I don't love it much more than the other games, but damn it, still a Metroid game so I love it.
I'm a big Mega Man X fan but that mean I'll like and take everything they make with the serious.
X7 is still a massive let down.
Good? Meh, but fun? Definitely fun to play.
@@discordant8543 yep spamming the doge button over and over while walking down empty corridors sure is fun
THANK YOU! Finally, someone reasonable.
Even with all the complaints I saw, and as much as I Agreed with them, I couldn't bring myself to hate it either. Glad I'm one of an extreme few, and not the only one.
In the Zero Mission Manga, here PTSD is present. She overcame her fear by killing Ridley in Zero Mission. Supposedly. Then in later games she faces him without a problem due to overcoming the trauma by destroying her nemesis...However. Ridley was supposed to be truly dead after Super Metroid...His revival as a clone was unexpected for her. She believed him to be truly dead, and his sudden reappearance causes her PSTD to resurface.
It’s a good way of bringing him back but not as he use to be honestly.
I mean I guess that's one way to see it. I think she would be more pissed off than traumatic that he wasn't truly dead. HOLY CRAP THIS COMMENT IS 10 YEARS OLD!!!
Fun fact: Other M considers the Prime trilogy to be non-canon (Even though the rest of the series does) meaning in this game alone, Samus is not used to Ridley just not staying dead.
@@phoenixchampion7 I mean that makes partial sense, but it’s stupid…
That’s the way I see it. Finally someone gets it!😄
This arrangement is my favorite. It feels intense. Also sounds Metal Gear-style.
This theme set a new standard for Ridley. Not only is he a badass villain, but he can really absorb a lot of damage. The theme just makes him more awesome.
😢 4:13
Everyone is playing Other M, and I'm still over here with my Gameboy playing Fusion and Zero Mission...
Oh, don't be jealous. Other M is total shit.
You should play it if you can, you may like it, since I really like this game.
I know that sometimes is difficult to get some money son,but if you can, try to get a Wii U. On the Wii U you´ll be able to play the whole metroid saga (if you get Metroid Prime Trilogy) and also Metroid other M, since both are for Wii and the Wii U can run these games.
You could also download Metroid 1, and Super Metroid 3 from the E-shop. So, as you can see, the Wii U could be a good choice for you since it offers several Metroid games to play with.
Fusion is my favorite 2D Metroid.
Captain Olimar In case you didn´t know, Metroid Fusion in out now on Wii U so you can play either on the Wii U gamepad or on the TV .
Let's be honest. If you saw your family's killer after you thought you killed them, after the trauma they caused you, You'd suddenly have an episode like Samus.
_But then you'd shove 10.000 missiles in their mouth and call it a day._
Terminal montage reference
The graphics and the music were really good. The gameplay in other hand doesn't feel like Metroid at all. And the story is just...yeah...let's not even talk about it.
+Giovanni Costa
the music was.... okay I would say. I mean, this is the best music of the game
+Giovanni Costa It was simply a failed attempt. The "Other M" is symbolic of the fact that samus was always mute, and that this game intended to show us another side of her, of course, that is something we never wanted.
Just saying but this game is really good for people with a lot and I mean a lot of patience.
+Gamingshogun 9105 yeah, specially the went samus have some sort of trauma meeting ridley, after kicking his ass like 6 times already
raymer rodriguez
yeah, this is something that they took out of the Metroid manga series. Other M is more like a game based on the manga than a a sequel to super metroid
Prime was amazing... One of the best first person shooters I played.
Other M was just a bunch of hoping around. I swear the main enemy was just dodging nonstop. SO EASY...
Here's a tip for an 8 year old commenter. Play on hard if its too easy. That's practically a requirement for prime 3 because it'd so easy
I still think this game doesn't deserve the hate it gets.
To be fair, Samus saw Ridley die for real in Super Metroid, which chronologically takes place right before Other M. Seeing him return was more a shock than usual, so of course she'd have relapse.
(I even watched the cutscene again, and I swear I heard her utter "It can't be - !")
I've tried to justify this in my mind before and it just doesn't make any sense. At this point samus had fought ridley 4 times already (5 if you count samus returns), why is she having PTSD now?
@@Rupcoris because in every fight they had before super Metroid, Ridley first survived extremely wounded (Zero Mission), then he went under medication becoming Meta Ridley (Prime 1). This ”therapy” resulted him regenerating more and more organic pieces of his body (Prime 2) and as the regeneration progress, he becomes less mechanical and more organic, becoming first Omega Ridley (Prime 3) and lastly Proteus Ridley (Samus Returns). With his regeneration completed, his now back to 100% organic (Super Metroid), and after his decisive battle with Samus (the second one in Super Metroid) we cleary see that Ridley exploded and his body shattered to pieces, cleary stating that his dead for good. After the game's ending, planet Zebes (where the events of Super Metroid took place) exploded, wiping out everything that was on that planet, including Ridley's remains, so not even with a miracle there was a way to bring back OG Ridley. So Samus, after processing that she has eliminated her nemesis for good, could live peacefully putting her past aside. That wasn't the case because of the Federation cloning Ridley using his remains on Samus' Suit. Samus, after seeing that not only she lost Baby, her ”adopted son”, and her home planet, where she was raised by the Chozo, but she realized that she also failed to kill her nemesis, the one who wipe out all the inhabitants of K-2L (her original planet) killing her parents in front of her, and that leads to a breakdown, and as far as we know from the manga, she suffers from PTSD a lot. This is where Samus characterization in Other M peaked, because the Samus we saw in that game was in a weak state, after the failure of Super Metroid Mission (save the Baby) her first failure, so of course she isn't the same strong independent woman we see in other games. Other M's events however helps to strengthen her spirit and to fight her PTSD, accepting her past and becoming the bounty hunter we know today. This Samus born from Other M can be found in her dialogues and monologues from Fusion and in the Raven Beak fight from Dread were she straightly losed it. As a side note if the community hates Other M so much, since is basically a movie on Samus, I hope they never do a Metroid movie.
Every time I heard this AFTER the Ridley fight, I expected him to just come out of no where and start an epic fight.
But no, that didn't happen...unfortunately.
Why?
@@Mac14329 he dies off screen shortly after you fight him
@@flashtheshapeshafter I mean, we already got an epic fight, didn't we?

Many comments only point out 1 or 2 things but that's mostly it even Online reviews say 8,5/10.
We actually are authorized to sleep in peace 😂
This has to be the most epic ridley theme of all
No, Samus Returns has THAT honor.
Gameplay: Bad
Story: Terrible
Music: Amazing

This is literally the only noteworthy track of the game. Everything else is extremely bland and generic action film music. I can remember clearly the theme of Phendrana and Brinstar, but I can't recall a note from the theme of the sectors of this game, mainly because there's no melody, only ambient noise and tense chords.
How the flying fuck was the gameplay bad?
MonkeySharkPro
Because it was a repetitive flashy action game that is watered down compared to the other game in the series. There was no real freedom of exploration since door would randomly lock behind you and you were usualy ordered around by Adam and/or the plot. And while not looking quite significant the fact that 'unlocks' were done with an authorization mechanic removed a part of the pleasure for me. In the other games, when I arrived before an obstacle I couldn't overcome, I knew that I needed something hidden somewhere else to help. In this game, there was no unlocks to find to help you move around you just had to wait for Adam to tell you when you could use them. And I said repetitive because doors would lock and force you to fight again and again the same tedious mini-bosses(I hated that wood dinosaur monster). So if you like repetitive action packed game and you never enjoyed a Metroid game before, I guess you could like the gameplay, but in the scheme of metroid games, this should never be repeated in a series renowned for exploring alien worlds, not for being a shoot-em up action game.
***** Well, I guess it's safe to say that we disagree, and honestly I don't want to get in argument. I felt that the gameplay was solid and enjoyable and that it overshadowed the story, but alas that is just my personal preference. I wish you the best of luck in the future, and ciao.
gameplay:good
story:the worst
music:amazing
Whoever it is that originally composed Ridley's Theme is a freaking musical genius; I can think of no better music that says: "OMG YOU'RE BEING CHASED BY A VICIOUS PTERODACTYL MONSTER THAT'S THIRSTY FOR BLOOD!!! RUN FOR YOUR LIFE!!!"
It's up there with all the great 'danger' themes; the Jaws theme for sharks, the Psycho theme for deranged murderers, and Ridley's in a class all on his own...
Honestly, this game wasn't that bad.
The only thing I didn't like about this game was the final boss against MB.
I think Phantoon made up for that.
+tostinky You didn't even really fight her, which I guess is a little disappointing but over all the game was great. I don't get why people say it fucks up the continuity with the invulnerable Metroids. Those die and Samus is covered in the control Queen Metroid's guts in the end which were pretty obviously harvested and used to make the Metroids in Fusion
+TheOneTrue SlimeKing phantoon was annoying, But fun
The badassery of this song is amazing.
Nuclear crisis diverted.
The only good part of Other M
the boss fights tho
This theme was the only good thing to come from that shit game, in my opinion.
This Ridley Theme is probably one of the best things about Other M, especially when compared to the rest of the dull tracks.
Only good thing about this piece of shit game
+Treize why shit game?
+Dominik Schneider metroid is good!
To me that is.
TheBlazinGenesect 2.0 would like to know why others think
+Dominik Schneider Treize means just Other M. They fucked up HARD and essentially spat in the face of every nintendo fan when it came out. It made the badass Samus Aran destryer of planets turn out to be a whiny bitch who would stop breathing if Adam told her too. Yeah she has ptsd from Ridley killing her parent yet she had already killed him like 3 times over at that point and knows that he doesn't ever fully die. It also didn't have very good gameplay as well. I depise this game along with other fans for how it made Samus out to be. Just look at my name, and you'll see why i hate it.
Sammy Aran is Bae they dont need to fan serve you. they make a game wich should be playable by anyone.
turning her into a whiny bitch? why not? no problem with that.
the gameplay was fluid and very nice in my opinion. no hate on that.
and i have no problems with samus aran beeing bae. is that something bad nowadays? beeing a bae?
Love this! the game rocks! although it's not to hard.. loved that on the second playthrough(hard mode) you get 1 bar of health and a few missiles! makes boss fights much more enjoyable dodging and shooting missiles + my insainly fast thumb mashing skills! who needs auto fire when you're that fast 😝! baha
Totally
I thoroughly agree with you on that, I am genuinely SICK of all the fan controversy about this game. In fact (Flame Shield Up), I actually LIKED Other M.
@@snekladyrobin My opinion on this game has changed a lot in the years since I posted this comment. I still don't think it's a TERRIBLE game, per se (the gameplay is passable in my opinion), but I've come to agree that it's a black mark on the franchise that should be ignored. That said, the live blog did give me a new perspective on just how bad the writing is, and was a very entertaining read in general. Thanks for linking it!
@@PsychoKaiju if you ever replay it, try the Maximum edition. It takes a little too much tweaking for anyone who isn't REALLY into it, but if you can get it going it makes the story a lot more palatable and consistent with the rest of the series.
Am I the only one who liked that game?
As a stand alone game it wasn't all that bad, but for a Metroid game it was just awful.
no
***** freezy pop!
Not at all, I rather enjoyed it. Sure it was flawed, but terrible? Not by a longshot.
no
With all that said though, the game had some awesome qualities that I hope makes it into another Metroid game done in this style. I thought the auto-aim was kinda dumb at first but it actually worked really well. In 2D metroid games you didn't really have to worry too much about aiming and you could literally blast through multiple enemies easily after you power up and this game captures that feeling perfectly unlike the Prime games were you had to take time to aim to get through an area.
I Kinda Like Other M
I don't get why people want Ridley as a playable character. I mean, Ridley's absolutely ginormous. In Brawl, it was able to easily lift Samus with one hand/claw. And even if they scale it down, really, what could they possibly do for his move-set?
People just want more Villain characters, but one of Ridley's most intimidating facts is that he's huge. Scaling him down would take away of his traits.
ProsecutorZero Yeah, that's another thing. I think that if any villain has a chance of making it in, it's King K. Rool. He isn't too big (A bit bigger than Donkey Kong), and he has a wide range of attacks that could be used in his move-set. The other reason I think he has a chance is that, not only do many people want him in, but Nintendo still has rights to the kremlings, because they appear in smash run.
EpicPigmasks Well to be fair K. Rool is way bigger than Donkey Kong.
I know Ridley's a boss but i'm just saying
ProsecutorZero That isnt one of his traits, in every game he is in, he is one of the smallest bosses.
Corey Cale In fact, I think his size tend to be inconsistent (Disclaimer: only played 3 Metroid Games and watched a Let's Play of Super Metroid).
EpicPigmasks If you saw him as a Boss hazard in the most recent Smash Direct, you can clearly see that he is getting very, VERY close to become a character, and besides: Size doesn't matter.
I just notice this is the same theme exact Ridley Theme in Dead or Alive Dimensions for 3DS
That's because that stage was based on Other M.
I liked this game, the gameplay, and the story except the first cutscene. But why the galactic federation would keep a secret vessel with unused bio-weapons? Also, the power ups are... more normal, Samus don't have to collect everything again, instead she has to.wait Adam to allow her to use stuff. Crap, I'm dying in the vulcano and I can't use Varia suit.
The in-game explanation is that they were going to use them, but MB staged a mutiny and they lost control. The idea was to take control of them again, but Adam started looking around.
Though that does beg the question why they'd go out of their way to remove the only weakness that let them control the Metroids as Bio-Weapons.
I don't like the reasoning for the power ups, it could've been done a bit better, like in Fusion or Prime 2, but the idea of you not needing to go find the upgrades is nice. Another thing I don't like is, you can only get energy by saving or holding your wiiremote up pressing a, which basically makes you an easy target. Why couldn't they make the enemies drop energy like all the other games?
papershadow69 the metroids can only be controlled by mother brain's hypnotic powers, the only weakness of the metroids is freezing, removing that would make the metroids an almost perfect bioweapon. freezing is not the way to control it, but to destroy it
Golden Link you can get though the whole game just pressing the dpad randomly to dodge and then punish the poor bastards, the game would be WAY TOO EASY if they droped health.
filipposan872 I mean control in the sense of "they're starting to revolt, but we're able to wipe them out before they cause too much damage."
HOPE FOR A NEW METROID GAME FOR WII U AND 3DS
your wish has been granted
And Metroid prime 4 will arrive........ in a couple of years
@@metaknight115 5 years later and I can only agree. Seen the announcment at E3 and bummed that it got canceled. I just really hope that when Prime 4 drops that it'll set sales records. Metroid is a series Nintendo rarely pushes due to its low sales number. I really REALLY hope this will change with prime 4.

Can be for switch?
This edition of the Ridley theme is one of two good things about Other M, the other being the gameplay.
it makes a good battle theme, escape theme, and it gets stuck in your head so easily

THE GAMEPLAY WAS SOLID SUPER METROID SUPER MARIO 64 and ZELDA OCRINA OF TIME AND METROID PRIME COMBINED INTO ONE METROID GAME ITS AWESOME!
Most people hated what Samus had to say, leading to their dislike of the game, is all.
I personally... just... hated the controls.
+SavageBunnyGirl you mean NOT using the nunchuck and wii mote, but instead, moving with the Dpad, than going into first person mode by aiming the mote at the screen ISN"T FUN? [I've yet to play this, but I've heard that this is something a lot of people hate]
ironically I'm fine with that
yeah it wasn't perfect, (stupid concentration)
but I'm fine with it
I honestly don't like the game nor this remix. It rather sounds like a super mash bros. theme without the electronic feeling. It is not freaky enough. And yeah, Metroid (Prime) music is fucking freaky.
This Sounds Like An Escape Theme.
Elliott Domokos Ridley's theme has always been an escape theme ya'know (even in this game)
Apparently Ridley has no style according to Anthony.
Anthony's right though, no style, didn't even make sure Anthony was dead.
Death
Man, Other M story is so ridiculous.
Aye, but this song and Ridley's entrance was badass
Death
Oh, Ridley's entrance? Do you mean that whole scene when Samus freaked out from seeing Ridley back to life? (even tho he came back to life a lot of other times)
Where did I say anything about samus? I said Ridley's entrance, not samus' panic attack. You know? The magma flowing and Ridley stepping in?
Only redeeming quality of the game
Shitty game. Great theme.
Maybe next time, Ridley...
*Smash bros 5*
Smash 5 would technically be the one on the Wii U version.
Yeah, see him in Smash 5....
Which is the WiiU version, btw.. :P
***** But didn't Nintendo say that the 3DS and Wii U version would have the same roster?
Supermariofanish Yes, that's why there are talks of connectivity.
***** Nope, the WiiU version is still Smash 4.
I don't care what anyone says. I love this boss fight!
I liked the gameplay and story of Other M. It combined the old 2D and the new 3D sources in a good way. The Story was also great, because it gives a new, emotional side of Samus. She is not the "hardcore Hero/Killing Machine" like master chief or something. She is a bit melancholic and traumatized after all the adventures she got through. The best scene was shortly before the battle against Ridley when she looked in his eyes and the fear of the childhood came upon her (because she thought that Ridley was finally dead). This shows humanity and that is what I liked in this game. I know that the authorizations of Adam are an argument but for me it is conclusive why she followed his orders.
The thing that I think everything forgets about Other M is that the plot of the game itself was actually really solid (in my opinion at least). Samus's characterization was TERRIBLE, but I thought the story was fairly engaging.
Eh...that's debatable too, I think. Adam's "perfect military mind" from Metroid Fusion doesn't look so perfect after literally all but one of his squad, including himself, gets straight up murdered on one mission. The whole thing with the non-freezable Metroids also didn't make sense because, as we saw, Adam DID freeze them.
Samus's fetish with "the baby" was also ridiculous, as if her only defining feature is that she's a woman and women have kids. And why did she freeze up when she saw Ridley? This is nearly the fifth or sixth time she's fought this giant dragon, each whooping it's ass handily, and yet now she's suddenly frightened? Doesn't make much sense.
Also..."The Deleter." That is just a dumb name for an assassin.
yea well nobody will be pleased. some will like it, some will hate it. For those that hate the game, the company that made Ninja Gaiden and nintendo wont care cuz they think its good. maybe im wrong on that but thats my thought. My brother and I liked it, and we arent easy to impress either.
The premise of the story - Samus going to investigate an EXTREMELY suspicious Sos call, meeting up with adam, anthony and co, trying to deal with the natural awkwardsness on top of the physical and mental stress of her previous mission, finding out the federation is breeding metroids which is VERY illegal, and stupidly dangerous, and workign together to stop MB - THAT holds promise, but the way they carried it out does not work in the slightest.
im glad someone else thinks this had a great story
From what I have seen other m takes place after super Metroid in terms of timeline.
Not sure if I agree.
Regardless, I thought Other M was brilliant, although with a forgettable story.
"You have not truly played the other Metroid games."
Yes, I have. I've even played Metroid 2, which for some reason a lot of people haven't.
Other M is not a 3D version of how the original Metroid games played. It's a 3D version of Fusion plays. It's even got the same setting, commanding officer, and enemy designs.
So why do I like Fusion when I don't like Other M? I don't know. Maybe it's how Fusion's narrative was focused, while Other M's just meanders.
I'm going to justify samus's breakdown somewhat by saying that maybe seeing the creature that killed her family, and destroyed her home literally come back from the dead might have subconceusly triggered her and overwhelmed her to the point of a meltdown, it was still cringeworthy, but I can see what they were trying to do.
That's my head canon for the scene too.
It doesn't help that in the game canon she's seen him twice before already and had no reaction
+Son Goku Yes, but on neither of those occasions did he look like himself. That was the first time she saw what he truly was, the Space Pirate she had killed back from the dead.
The only good to come out of this game.
You gotta admit that as much TERRIBLE is the scene that precedes it, the boss fight against Ridley and this theme are pretty awesome.
is it sad that the best thing to come out of the Metroid series in the last 9.5 years is this song and an unlicensed fan game?
It's very sad. Nintendo could have generated a shitload of goodwill if they just gave Doctor M64 a cheque and put AM2R on the e-shop, instead of being butthurt assholes.
TaurusOxford Nintendo are releasing their own Metroid 2 remake on 3DS!
Very late but we finally got something about a year ago. And it was awesome

I found Other M to be a pretty good game. Yes, Samus acted like way too much of a weenie, but other than that, The only real problem I found was the MB battle. The gameplay, though different and more simplistic than the previous installments, was fun. The story was intriguing, if a bit simple, and the music was kickin'. Even Samus' weak personality wasn't entirely unexpected. I mean, it's not like she hasn't voiced her opinions before. In Fusion, she had a very similar outlook, the only difference is that here she has a voice.
Actually from what I've heard the idiot in charge thought no emotion in her voice is a great idea.
Well the context of the Fusion diolauge was more of a strong, yet broken, woman. It's how she was protrayed in the Super Metroid manga, and that what the fans expected.
this was a pretty good game but it was not a good Metroid game.
Phandabear EXACTLY
Sirknobbles 10k
I mean, it all depends what is a true metroid game for you
Sirknobbles 10k
She didn't spoke for a good reason. Her Other M monologue was so boring to listen to! There was no soul into that.
Sirknobbles 10k
Yeah, like, the problem was that she sounded very... unenthusiastic about everything. I swear, my history teacher has more energy than that voice actress.
The gameplay wasn't bad, but the story is...blegh. Whether or not it's considered a Metroid game it was blegh. It's definitely gotten more hate for tainting the Metroid Universe with it's odd character changes and convoluted, overly "symbolic" decisions, but I still discount the story as trying too hard to be interesting.

VGM Studios Baby's cry!!!
VGM Studios Other M is an anagram of Mother!!
There are much better versions of this song. This version certainly isn't horrible, but NintendoLand's, for example, blows it out of the water. This version's a little too "Michael Bay" for my taste.
The Nintendo Land music is so amazing. I love it.
panic attack-dream theater
Only good song in the game becides the credits
Honestly, I think samus is scared of ridley because, maybe because she saw him die in super metroid, but it's only a theory.
A game theory! :D
Golden Link
Thanks for looking!
Samus has no reason to be scared of Ridley since she's encountered him plenty of times. Remember, the events of this game and Fusion chronologically occur well after the Prime series, in which Ridley seemed to be the most powerful.
Samus has a reason for being scared of Ridley. Look, Ridley indirectly caused the baby metroid death, because he captured the baby metroid. The baby died and Samus was with a trauma, and when she saw Ridley, she was paralyzed maybe because Ridley reminded her to the baby metroid, and that is a theory of why she didn`t attack Ridley in the game. Also, the Ridley in the Bottle Ship is a clone of the original Ridley, the one that is frozen in Metroid Fusion.
***** The Ridley in Fusion is Ridley X, an X parasite host, not the real Ridley.
Can we just recycle this song for all eternity?
If there was ever a good thing to come out of Other M, it was this arrangement of Ridley's theme. Such a banger.
I really love how Tecmo added this song in DOA Dimensions, wished they added the Zero Suit as custom for the female fighters though.
Other M wasn't great. There's no denying that. But it's nowhere near as bad as people say it is. The combat, while easy to learn, was fun. The gameplay, while clunky, was simple enough for some players - key word "some" - to enjoy. The story was far from perfect, but helped to actually fill in a few holes in Metroid's overall story. In the end, Other M was a simple game, but was fun for some players, myself included. Could it have been better? Definitely. But it could also have been far worse.
It has been made clear that Bowser is somehow immune to lava, Wispy Woods doesn't explorde--he merely gets sad and starts crying, the robot masters do explode and you get abilities from them but they can be rebuilt because they're robots, you actually see Ganon/Ganondorf's deaths when the LoZ series gets more fleshed out, etc. etc. etc.
Ridley clearly blows up in the Metroid Prime games, which were made when the Metroid series was more fleshed out. He died in those games.
I do know that Kraid WAS planned to be in Metroid Prime as Meta Kraid, but he was removed due to time constraints. But this is my thought, Samus saw Ridley resurrected as Meta Ridley in Metroid Prime, so she wouldn't have been so emotionally stung to his reappearance. In Super Metroid, there wasn't enough time to be overcome with fear due to Ridley making a speedy getaway with the infant metroid after a very brief and weak fight. By other M, Samus was sure Ridley was gone for good.
I'm a true Metroid fan and I was so excited to play other M when I first bought it(spent $50 on it) I just couldn't finished the game it was that bad.
the reason samus entered ptsd when she encountered ridley in this game is because she thought ridley was dead. personally, i think everyone just hates it because of the WORST. FAKE OUT. EVER. either wy, there was ZERO SUIT ACTION!!! last time that was in a metroid game was the gba era. they got the escape right.
tho only good thing about other m is this song but adam forbid i like this
Completely unrelated but I think this song would fit into the new Killer Instinct's soundtrack perfectly.
This and phantoon more then made up for the game IMO
*every single metroid game*
Ridley: *revives*
Samus: ok. I'll kill u as always
*Metroid other m*
Ridley: *revives for 6th time*
Samus: omg how can u be alive?? *insert childhood trauma*
This fight was the only good thing about this game
Especially if you manage to land a Lethal Strike on Ridley. You can pretend Samus, after snapping out of her PTSD relapse, went all apeshit on Ridley for what he has done.
Ridley is one of the greatest nuisances I've ever met. The only ones who can top Ridley in this point are my mother and my sister as well as my best friend. :P
But, well, in SSBB Ridley didn't live long enough to regret the biggest mistake in his entire life - challenging me :P
This is the only comment that isn't a complaint about other M... wait... OH CRAP! (Goes to hide from the truckloads of rage comments)
Sounds like an Alien movie, trying to shoot down the beast
Pretty accurate to what happens during the music.
Other M: Meh.
Other M Ridley theme: YES.
Damn shame the bad cutscene overshadowed the fact that this is one of the best versions of this theme in the series.
howbcould they fuck up our samus so bad?
how
Yeah I battle against Ridley for million of times from Metroid series and besides, is still kick ass against Ridley.
Samus:(fighting riddley)
Adam " *I DID NOT authorize you to engage in battle*
But he did
Yes, then you appeared in Brawl and you put both Princess Zelda and Princess Peach in a cage, but they beat you.
Mario is already kick your ass in Super Mario Sunshine and he beat you again in Super Smash Bros Brawl.
Metroid Return of the Space Pirates coming soon in 2015 ( pfft such lies gotta love these fake Rumors )
Do you all really have nothing better to do than comment that you dislike Other M for the millionth time? I think everyone got that you cant possibly accept someone liking the game at this point.
As much as I hate Other M, I have to say that this is probably the best rendition of Ridleys theme so far.
