Helpful hint when using dark wax first use clear wax then dark. You can also erase or tone down when you feel its too dark. Either way it came out great!

Hello sweet friend! The last 2 DIY videos i watched they used antiquing wax on a piece, but before they out on the dark wax they used a clear wax first and the darker wax wasn't as dark & rubbed down easier. How cool that the couple are buried in Chattanooga! I only lived about 45min-an hour from Chatt. when i lived in Tennessee! Its so cool you could find out all that you did! Maybe I should try to find out more about the man whose things i got!🤷‍♀️ The only thing i know is that he was in the airforce in WWII and was from somewhere there in TN near where we lived & after he was out of the service he worked as a Deputy Sheriff& do have his badge! My husband found A box, like a mans jewelry box, when some of our recovery home guys did a house clean out, I'm thinking it was his just not sure where because we did thing ask around out county & nearby too. But this box haggard the letters & post cards, his badge, pocket watch, some badges from his war uniform, very old leather pouch with clippers & tweezers, also going the cup & brush for shaving, cuff links, some other things but i can't remember it all right now🥴 But I'm thinking we could find out more for sure! Lol lordt girlfriend we'd make a good team for sure!😂 The hygienist i used to work with used to be the same way & we used to say we were 'cracking cases'! We'd always go to each other to find out whatever we wanted to know, between the 2 of us we'd get it done!😄 My husband called me 'inspector Tammy' instead of inspector gadget!😂 Yes girl my mama always used Old English products! From the furniture to the hardwood floors! Our hides was built in the early 1950's or late 40's. I mean it looks mid century just looking at it! Reminds me of the houses on those old weekday programs like 'Leave It To Beaver'😄 But the front living room had hardwood floors, the skinnier planks & high gloss.. perfect for sock feet skating!😄 Mama always used Old English on them! And she used the furniture polish too, so did I when i got my own place. Girl the hutch looks so good, its beautiful!! The white shelf piece that was made with doors, i had some old shutters & someone was going to make a corner shelf for me but we moved before he got the chance.🫤 The art piece you had in the basket with the metal around the picture on the inside..i had several pieces pretty much it, along with other metal art. When we lived in the condo in NC before we moved TN, that was my decor style! Donna that breadbox kooks awesome! Looks like A while new piece! We have A roll top bread box that belonged to my FIL but its a real light colored wood & white inside. Girrrrl that rooster is gorgeous! Seriously..i don't do chickens, i don't even know I'd I own anything with chickens in it, probably do, but WOW! That almost makes me want to find a big one & try this!😄 I know it would never look like yours, it would probably look like one of those roosters that was in a fighting match..& lost!🤪 Well you were just the DIY queen today! Everything look gorgeous!😊 I t really enjoyed hanging out, thanks for sharing! Pray you have A blessed rest of the week.. see you soon!🙏🏻 love ya gf!❤

You're a natural detective! You would definitely make a great team with me, we'd solve every mystery! 😂. I love how well the old English worked on the hutch and bread box. It was like magic. ✨ As far as wax goes, I’ve used a couple other dark waxes that were so easy to use. This particular product is not for me. I prefer the Behr dark waxes. It’s like butter. 😉

The rooster turned out amazing! Dark wax can be challenging especially if it’s harder, some dark wax is more pliable. Old English is amazing and I use the Howard’s products as well they both work wonders. The breadbox looks like new. Your styling as always is Gorgeous. 💜💜💜

I love the rooster 🐓 he is gorgeous . I think he is beautiful, I want him. Lol . The old English I also have. Before my hubby passed he would go to auction blocks. He bid on my Hutch, which looked a bit beat up. But I used the dark old English and what a difference. He said if they saw it now they would of up the price. I'm so thankful for it. It houses my Angel collection he gave me. I love it. Take care. Hugs to Buster, the sweetie pie. ❤

Donna talking about the letters and the individuals that are in the letters, It is so intriguing to find out things about those situations but for me I am so thankful that you’re sharing them because in my heart I’m keeping it alive because it is so awesome to hear about people’s lives in love letters like that. It’s like a movie anyway thank you ! Haha my husband, and I do the same thing about being detectives. I am the detective I laugh all the time when I say something and I’ll go you think that that’s something and he’ll look at me and laugh and we both say probably not..😂😂. My neighborhood’s not safe either. I’m the detective here too.😊. I use the old English on my cabinets to freshen them up because I have wooden cabinets love it. It’s the best thing they ever made. I have it in the light in the dark.♥️. Donna, the chicken turned out, so pretty love it. When you were showing it, there’s one spot that looks like a lady reading a book. She’s got dark hair. That roster turned out so great. You are gifted at doing that "teckneek"😆 That Old English is a miracle worker. It's almost unreal to believe how the scratches disappear. Ant that BREAD BOX . Oh my goodness!!! OOOOOOo I would love to have that hutch. It's lovely!! Can't believe you aren't keeping it. The shelves would look pretty in a sage green shade. Girls you killed it ALL today! Love you, sister-friend❤

Good morning Donna! ☕️ I love how the chicken turned out! Yes, that Old English is amazing. That’s what we always dusted Mama’s furniture with growing up. Her and Daddy bought their furniture the year I was born (1973) and it still looks brand new. She has taken such good care of it. I haven’t seen the dark wood polish though…. I’ll have to tell her about it, because all of her stuff is dark wood! That breadbox just blows my mind! It looks amazing! I can’t wait to see how you use the hutch in the booth!😊

Mr Rooster looks dapper. Wow! The old English scratch oil does a fantastic job! I am enjoying you reawakening the soldier and his wife’s life and love story. I love older folks because they not only have a wealth of knowledge, but they know how to enjoy life. We had a trip to Gettysburg which I love the history, but also to Lancaster Pennsylvania where the Amish folks live( love them). We took a tour on a small bus around the community with a group of older couples and they were a barrel of fun.

Love the rooster! I have a few mahogany pieces in my home and the old English polish is a game changer. When I bought my hutch it was pitiful looking and my husband thought I had lost my mind for actually paying for it. He went to bed and I worked for about an hour polishing it. He got up the next morning and when he saw it he said no way that is the same piece! I showed him my magic in a bottle and now he uses it all the time for any little scratch he sees.

Donna, I have used the Old English scratch cover and oil for 45 years! It is GREAT for natural wood antique pieces. Our heat dries the woods out, so to "feed" the wood sometimes is a good idea and your antiques will thank You!

My dad was in WWII Navy, Chief Petty Officer. He and my mother exchanged love letters. They had a code, how he started the letter Dearest Darling … words meant north are south of the equator. And how he ended the letter. Example Love you forever, on which body of water he was on. It didn’t pin point where he was but she had an idea of where he was. It is amazing to read those letters with all the blacked out words or cut out spaces the Navy had blocked due to possible giving location if the enemy.
