First time viewer here. I just subscribed and “liked” based on this one video alone.
I’m hoping your other videos are just as incredible because I usually don’t subscribe anywhere until I’ve seen several videos from any site.
Thank you so much for this.
I’ve been using excel (home use) for decades and I didn’t know 80% of what I learned here today. 😊
Welcome aboard ... and thanks for your kind note :)
As an Excel instructor, I just love to see the faces of the participants when I give a cool demonstration of Flash Fill. Priceless!!!!! BTW the shortcut for Flashfill is Ctrl+E
Thanks for the shortcut
Same. I've been training excel for 25 years and still get a buzz from the Lights On moment you see in students faces. 😊
Love your teaching style
This is one of the better, if not the best, videos on time-saving in Excel. I consider myself an advanced user, but never knew about the Alt = function, particularly when you have two tables next to each other.
Thank you so much for your kind note, I sincerely appreciate it :)
One of the best I saw on UA-cam in this year, 2023. Thank you for wonderful tips
The amount of time, work, and aggravation you saved me is absolutely amazing!

I just learned more in 22 minutes than I learned in 22 years while figuring it all out by myself!!!
P.S. This ADHD person appreciates the rapidity with which you present. This is one of the very few videos I haven't had to speed up to 1.25x, 1.5x or sometimes even 2x in order to stay focussed.
You’re simply amazing 🎉
Brilliant!!! Thank you! Omg

More than great 💯👍 follow you from Syria 🌷💐
Flash fill is not stable, should any number or text change, it will NOT update, I must encourage people to rather use formulas.
Absolutely helping and valuable tricks.
Glad to hear I can help!
Great lesson.
Pivot tables solve almost all of this with just drag and drop, but it’s always great to know this for data cleanup
Absolutely!

A+! The best information on YT by far.
Wow, thanks!
I have an assessment in the morning on excel......I sooooo very nervous 😓
As someone who works as a research analyst in Finance, a lot of these are certainly "time savers" but when you're building models and spreadsheets for the real world, error avoidance and clean scaling potential are incredibly important factors that need to be considered when analyzing data. So while it's great you can save time here and there, I would caution people to actually take the long way, prioritizing those factors instead of building your spreadsheet sub-optimally because they conform to some of the available shortcuts. I'm sure that was clear as mud.
Where would you suggest to start. I’m new at this
@sharonjackson494 best way to learn is to do. Build a spreadsheet. Use as many shortcuts as you can think of. Do it again with another spreadsheet. Rinse and repeat. Unplug your mouse for hard mode, but it's worth it. 90% of the time there will be a keyboard shortcut that you need to Google and learn how to do. That's a decent start, should take weeks if not months to get fluent. Then you can layer on ideas around optimizing the spreadsheet size etc
I have used Lotus 1-2-3, Borland's Quattro Pro, Symphony, and Excel. I thought I was pretty good at it, but now I realize I have been doing things the hard way. These hacks are even better than keyboard shortcuts.
So glad to help!
Wow ! u r 💯 !
Articulate and well presented - Thanks! New subscriber!
Welcome aboard!
Great video!
Thanks for the visit
OK that last one was just too freaking cute.

Thank you :)
I really liked ur style of coaching
Thanks for your kind note :)
further more can you advise what to do if you dont have dedicated "=" but only as shift 0 to use that awesome alt = function
Jeff soo good to see your face. It would seem we were both bitten by the programming bug in Basic programming class summer school jr, high at Walker. I have fallen in love with Excel VBA and see your passion for excel is mutual.
Mark ... is it really you ... wow!!! I'd love to catch up. Let's connect on LinkedIn or something!
The case that allows you to transpose must be the pivot table. Would it be after using SQL to obtain the main n then use that n factor in order to get the desirable outcome? one thing is hard to learn here in Linked in is that we know the tips and tricks but we can't imagine what and when scenario we can use it! Thanks for the interesting clip!
Shortcut for Filter is Ctrl + Shift + L. It can also be used to clear a filter by quickly press Ctrl + Shift + L twice. BTW this video is a perl!!!!
are you frickin kidding me? these are life changing.😂😂😆😃🤣
Thank you :)
hi great content , thank you but could not download exercise file, there is a kind of blocking at your web site
You had me at flash fill
I love how you throw in a laugh
Thanks Joy :)
Great tips. I am looking to increase my skills and am wondering what aspect is most in demand, BI, dashboarding, etc.
Hi Ted! Thanks for your kind note! As far as which Excel skills are most in demand, I'm not sure which would be most beneficial as it sorta depends on your role/company. But, to generalize, I'd recommend a solid foundation of functions and formulas, PivotTables, Power Query, and Power Pivot. These Excel skills would be beneficial to many Excel users.
@@ExcelU Thank you.
Oh! I was expecting 7 hacks about Excel's various Time functions.
Ha, me too. Time functions give me so many headaches that I change all dates to text strings and work with them that way!
Me too! Especially when carrying out calculations.
Same.
In Hack 4 where you can use fill series-drag with right click-paste as values only; I realise this is really great for converting formulas instantly to values, but do you have a solid hack for converting text to values? I’m not sure why but often the recommended routes don’t work - eg add a 1 in a cell, copy, select the “text” you want as numbers - paste special value & multiply. Still not numbers aargh.
God I searched for a function to sum above for multiple columns. Alt=, damn! Great vid
How Alt = works in mac air since Option and = does not do the same thing?
