We were young. Without internet. Without the hustle and bustle of today. We talked to each other - instead of writing. After school we had already agreed on which club we would meet in the evening, in our small town south of Munich - we didn't have cell phones. Miami Vice was on TV. We saved every penny to finally be able to buy our first Walkman - and were so proud when we finally held it in our hands. And every Friday evening at 7:00 p.m. we sat in front of the radio and recorded the Top 10 on cassette - and prayed that the announcer didn't interrupt too soon😂It was a decade of unforgettable music and the most beautiful women of all time (example: Withesnake "Is this love"). I would give the rest of my life if I could go back to the '80s for another 10 years
@MW-tt3fy: It sounds nostalgic and corny like this song right here but life was that simple for sure. We would do the same here in the South of Spain...
1986? I was in Great Britain for a few weeks with my college girlfriend. That was the first time I listened to this. I still have the C.D. Cheers from Chicago.
This used to play on "The Peaceful Hour" Radio City Liverpool, almost every night: Great track. P.S. That woman @ 1:12 with the grey hair was stunning.
Thanks, Kurt! I was little when this song came out and my mom bought this 45. We listened to it so much, she had to buy the whole album! I miss her so much.
I remember HATING this song the first time and couple years. Not until I had my first serious broken heart....and hear the song, did I understand the meaning. Now, it's on my Drive Home playlist for the past 3 decades.
The '80s were the best in music...and still remain the best. This gem of a song, was played several times on every party, each boy holding very very tight the girl he was embracing 🥰
Ahhh, 1986! Remember it well. Great year. A long hot summer. But what a great time it was. Reaganomics going strong, 99¢ a gallon gasoline. Bought my first brand new 3 bedroom 2 bath double garage fully loaded house for $60,000! Anew car truck SUV costs that much now. A much much better and different time, people, values, styles, music, and country, never to return again ever. Glad i lived it like 10's of millions of Americans alive then and now. Long time ago.
You realise you’re currently paying for your Reagonomics. He pioneered the loosening of credit banks could lend by increasing the multiples they had to keep. That’s what fuelled your good times. Now pay the piper
@@RandomUser25122 Nope, wrong. Not me I cashed in on high interest rates that whole decade. I paid cash for my new $60K home. Cash for my car. Cash everything. No debt at all at all. All my job moolah was spent on toys and vacations. 1980's was one of the greatest decades in USA TITANIC history. Try all that in 2024! Beautiful video restored to 4K. The US version is so legendary. My freshman roommate in 93 was going nuts when this was playing on the smooth jazz station in Seattle. The first thing he mentioned was the ladies in this video
Flawless... I like this song since I was 12 years old, I didn't even speak English at the time, I just felt in love with the melody and tapped it on cassette, now I'm 40 y/O and love it even more, thanks for posting.
Class of 66 ... When songs were real songs ... Fantastic piece from our legendary 80s, with so much nostalgia for a time that will never return 🥲 80 forever... ❤❤❤
I've always loved this song ever since I was a kid and I still play it quite often. It kinda irks me that here in November of 2024, I'm just now seeing this video for the very first time! I used to watch MTV and VH1 all the time and I don't recall them ever playing this video.
The second it started I noticed the enhanced soundtrack, beautiful. Upscaled 4K just gives it a contemporary look and feel. Thank you Kurt, this is a timeless gem!
Yhe first time I heard thus song was in Southern France, on vacation with my family and another family. The kids in the other family introduced this song to us. It always makes me think of summer in the South of France, 1986. ❤️
I danced to this song with a fellow passenger I met while on a river cruise in Europe last Christmas . I couldn't think of a better song for that time. Very classy song and it matched perfectly with the woman I was with. That was a year ago and I can't help it letting my mind wonder while I listen to this. Special time in a very special place
This Song is Absolutely Fascinating... It is part of my Life soundtrack. It is so Deep... It makes me dream of another time, place... ❤❤❤ It was one of the songs that used to make me feel so nostalgic when I was a child. I remember that I always used to look at the Ocean and miss something that I can't describe. It was so interesting after learning English, I discovered that the lyrics are about a woman who decided to stop waiting for the captain of her heart. Fascinating!! ❤💚💜💛💙
Have loved this song since it came out (1986 I think) & still listening to it, in 2024. Now that I am older & watching the video, I have noticed, not 1 single chunky person or anyone with any blemishes on their faces, were in this video. Everyone was young, beautiful or handsome. Would be funny to see a newer version of what people look like nowadays.
Was a student '85-'88 at University of Alaska Fairbanks after two and a half years in army at Fort Wainwright there. So was kind of old when I went to college. There was a big screen projector TV in the student union building, MTV on much of the time. This was one of the background songs of my mid-late 20s.
One of the very very few absolutely smooth and to the point, beautiful tunes created a long time ago, and is still irreplaceable with any other tune. Period. 🙏👍😁❤️ Thanks for all your beautiful and creative songs Kurt. ✌️🙏 Don’t stop my friend. 😄
Years ago, I was searching for the artist behind this masterpiece-before the internet, Shazam, and all that jazz. They never mentioned on the radio who sang it (were they being mean or what?). Finally, my English teacher told me it was Double. It felt like coming home.
Love this song, and have watched many video versions of this song, and somehow, this one is one of the best, with the lady at the end being the most beautiful. Viva the 80s.
I have this gorgeous song on a 33 and1/2 vinyl record from 1982. It was special ordered. It wasn't available on a cd which was popular at the time. One of the best songs ever.
Wow, thank you Kurt for sharing this in HQ! It really brings out the subtle details and nuances that made the song so wonderful to begin with. Simply put, it feels just like it did back in the 80s, with a richness that TV did not have back then. Well done! 👍 ❤ 🎶
This Song is Immortal ! ! ! When I was young I heard this song on the radio I loved it and it made me feel an adult. This song is so adult orientated .
We all agree that Kurt’s music is fantastic, not to mention, simply iconic and as relavent today as when he wrote it all. With the above said, he’s also quite the gentleman to his fans here as he gives pretty much every comment that I have seen a “heart”. It takes time to read everyone’s comments, but Kurt does! Thank you, Kurt! Cheers from Texas
Sensacional! 👏👏👏👏👏👏
One of my favorites from the 80’s. Le Flex (driving at sunset on the PCH near Laguna Beach vibe) and Flora Martinez (Intimate small Jazz club feel ) do an excellent rendition/interpretation of this in their own way
Reminds me of Sting's Be Still My Beating Heart. And speaking of Sting, he stated that modern music didn't do bridges, and this song has an amazing, long bridge, and that makes it so special.

It was released in September 1985 in the uk, so I presume it was released in 85 everywhere.
A&M records did release this single in summer 1986. Somewhere I have my 45rpm single of this.
This used to play on "The Peaceful Hour" Radio City Liverpool, almost every night: Great track. P.S. That woman @ 1:12 with the grey hair was stunning.
The time machine is ready, who wants to go back to the 80Ss with me?
Me ! 🎉😂
I'm 3 weeks too late.
I was born in 1990, but grew up with 80s music. For some reason this song always felt so nostalgic...❤
It is very 80s nostalgic.
I have no words to describe what I feel while listening to this song... A timeless masterpiece... ❤
Same...its soothing

This song opens the door to another world.
Nice way to put it!
Nostalgia to the max. I love the smooth sound of this song and the great memories from when I was in high school. Good times.

The vibes from this Song are mesmeric: the emotional sensation can't be put in words.
The lyrics literally put the emotion in there
This song puts me at ease. What a masterpiece. Let's go back to the 80's. 🎉🎉❤❤

Smooth vocals ... the saxophone adds a ethereal feeling... hypnotic !!!

Even the drum is relaxing. Melancholic/romantic ballad at its best!
Class of 66 ... When songs were real songs ... Fantastic piece from our legendary 80s, with so much nostalgia for a time that will never return 🥲 80 forever... ❤❤❤
Love this song!!! The instrumentals of the piano, Harp, Saxophone, and snare drum makes the song dreamy and smooth and jazzy. Love it!
I had been looking for this song for so so long, thank you so much for uploading it, from the bottom of my heart 🙌
60 anos,ouvindo me sinto com 20. Pura nostalgia 😊😊😊
