As so many people aptly point out, this it NOT Alanis Morissette, it IS Joan Osbourne. It was originally written and preformed by Joe Bazilian (formerly of The Hooters) as a hidden track on one of his CDs, and it was to impress a girl who told him "maybe we weren't even meant to meet". He wrote the song for her, as his way of saying 'maybe god is really just good things on earth, and could be the person you consider a poor slob across from you on the train, make what positives you can in your own life because no one's really calling him on the phone for magic'. However, this was during the period when he was supposed to be concentrating on writing Joan's album, so he played the track for her and asked what she thought of doing it. Joan liked it, the song was a hit. Eric got the girl, married her and I think they have kids now.

We are all god together!!!
NOT Alanis Morissette.
This is Joan Osborne.
Was about to say the same LOL
I love Alanis..... and Prince.... Prince wrote this song, and this not Alanis singing
Oh my god!!! What a mistake! Of course, it's Joan Osborne! Yeah, yeah, yeah! What if Alanis was one of us (on the bus)? :-) Love her too.
Kiwi Jello Prince didn't write the song
I didn't say anything about Prince, that other person did, and they are wrong. Prince had nothing to do with this song.
Joan oh Joan...You're so great❤
This youtuber was high...😇
They played this song on the radio when I had to bring my dog to the vet. On Nov. 2 around 10:00. Later that night I had to put my dog down.
Miss you Millie.

How many of y'all are still correcting the person who sang this song in 2019?
I laughed and laughed
Are you that starved of attention that you need to point out the obvious error and combine it with the most retarded fad of "blah blah blah followed by the current year" ?
What if, is the key words here !
I love that part. What if God was one of us. Good song.
Love Alanis Morisette's lyrics to ALL her songs.. I've been following her since DAY 1!!
So you probably knew this wasnt her.
