We gave some kiteboarding friends our 12m Flysurfer Soul to try out and review. Here's the result! ___ Gear we use + discount codes: www.ourkitelife.com/p/gear-we...
Hi guys, I really enjoy your channel. One of the best in quality and content. I just bought a Soul 15 and an 8 and did what your friend said to do - turned all five of my tube kites back in to Silent Sports. Love the new Soul!!
So funny, because while everyone else was flying LEIs back in 2008, and I started with a Peter Lynn Charger foil kite, I was for sure the odd man out - anywhere, but a 15m Charger foil would get out on the water in light winds that left literally everyone else sitting on the beach. Today, I have seen that Flysurfer has done everything to stay on top in foil kiting, but for those who have not even tried kiteboarding and want to start, I recommend Pansh kites from China as you can buy kite+bar+lines, good, sound quality (never had an issue) 10 to 12 m Aurora or Genesis for under $350.00 including shipping. So much for the affordability excuse.
The only thing keeping me from pulling the trigger one is launching and landing. I drift launch 90% of the time. Horst Sergio has water launches nailed but I'm nervous about that.
Great video guys as always it helped me decide to buy a soul. I’m curious if these guys were all LEI riders before or if they were using other foil kites? Certainly coming from Naish pivots before my feeling with the soul was similar to what most of these guys said.
Boosting technique for 18m Soul on water with Large TT? Hi guys, another question from a relatively newer rider. I understand most of this will come with time and experience but I’d certainly appreciate any advice to boost on such a large slow moving kite? I’m comfortable boosting with tube kites and my 12m soul, but haven’t quite figured out the best approach for my 18m yet. Specifically looking for tips about; 1) how low / high to send it from 2) how to maximize sending speed 3) how to minimize being pulled off my edge 4) best point to pull the bar Any advice would be very welcome
We don't have the 18, but we do have the 15 - which is a bit slower than the 12 (but obviously faster than the 18). Honestly, we wish we had a secret but it all comes down to practice and timing :)
@@OurKiteLife Okay so 15m then. I can get going with my 12m Evo at about 9-10kts (Foiling) so I was looking for something for lighter days. Living in Toronto....you know how it is, it's either very gusty or there is barely any wind haha. Thanks
Would love to hear your one year update - I’m in the same boat. Can go light on my 12m single strut with foil, but want that one more kite for lighter...afraid 15m might be too much kite in all but the smallest winds...so 12m or 15m?
I got the 15m one. Here is the thing, if you want it mostly for foiling, I'd get the 12m instead. If you want to foil in low wind AND be able to get on a twintip and do big jumps when others are struggling to stay up wind, get the 15m. I use my 15m when I either can't foil with my 12m evo (cause not enough wind for it to fly) or when I want to use my twintip in low wind. On average, depending on the density of the air, I can start having fun jumping at around 15kts... upwind without struggling at maybe 12kts. 180lbs/82kg (pre-covid). I hope that helped, if you have any questions, feel free ;).
Kinouille K thanks, helpful! I don’t want to have to ditch my Airush ultra 12m entirely, which I would probably do if I got the 12 Soul. But also don’t want to be completely yanked on the foil if an 8knot day gusts up to 20. Lots to decide, but your comment helps
Depends on the tube kite, as they have different shapes. 15m Soul has more power than any 15m tube in our opinion. Is it more like a 17m? Sure - maybe even 19m. The key factor is weight.
@@OurKiteLife thank you very much for the reply 🙏🏼 I do have a choice of front wings spanning between 1000cm2 up to 1600cm2 so maybe the 10m could be enough Happy kiting
This video might be part of the reason I bought a foil kite. 😂. Great videos keep it up.

Yeah, you made me buy one too!
I hope you get some commisions, You sold about 5. LOL

they are possible with proper technique

Thanks! Yes, all of these guys were coming from LEIs :)
Now put it in the hands of a more skilled kilter with a little adaptive time and you'll really see what it can do...

Which size would you recommend for foilboarding in the lightest winds (5-7kts)? I'm thinking 12m, would 15 be too much?
Usually anything below 10 knots and we use a 12m or 15m to get going. In 5-7 knots, we'd most likely be on a 15m though

Okay, it's now 2020, what's the verdict? Does a 15m Soul have the same power as a 15m tube kite or more like a 17m tube? Thank you

Hi! Do you need a 12m to foil in 10-15 knots or will the 10m Soul 2 have enough power?
It would depend on your foil setup and weight. With a larger front wing, a 10m Soul 2 should have enough power in 10-15 knots.

How does the Flysurfer Soul compare to the Speed5? Anyone with hand-on experience?
Much better than speed5, almost everyone at our local beach switched from speed5s and sonics to souls
@@OurKiteLife Thx
I demo'd this kite in 15m. Nice, but not a patch on my 15m Chrono3.
Chrono is a totally different kite. You should compare it to SONIC3 that's coming out very very soon 👍
