In ‘I’m a B’ Hwasa plays with words again, the Korean title is “I’m a 빛 “ it means “I’m a light” but 빛 sounds like bitch in English. "When I concentrate on working on music, I often torture myself and become quite hysterical" Hwasa said. "That is why I used the b-word to describe myself in the tune, asking people for some understanding. On top of that, I also believe I am the light of my own life." She added "I think I missed out on a lot of things in my life as I worked too hard to move forward… I also did not take good care of people next to me and I felt guilty about that. Therefore, I wanted to express these feelings with the song." The initial scene can be compared to a birth, plus Hwasa has the same dress used in Maria, connecting the two mvs and themes as Maria was like a rebirth to her and the water (another recurring theme) represents life. When she opens the door the scene is like watching inside that box she came out but as you can see everything is black outside instead inside the box is bright because Hwasa is the light. As we will see later there are 2 Hwasa, one watching inside the box and one actually inside of it “there’s no light without shadow” as Hwasa said. The whole mv and lyrics are playing with dark and bright, white and black, you can clearly see it in this part “life is so incredible. Even if I go crazy my sin is beautiful” then “life is now so terrible I can’t cry even if I smile”. Her sin is beautiful because she’s doing what she loves, music, but she feels like she’s sinning because she’s ‘mistreating’ herself and the people she loves. This is her guilty pleasure: pushing herself beyond her limits. We can spot flowers in the whole mv, the pictures in the blue room, she’s wrapped under plastic like a flower in a bouquet and in the room with white furnitures, the only touch of color are the flowers…Hwasa loves flowers and her symbol is a flower. Talking about this room, in Maria mv Hwasa wearing a sort of straitjacket was monitored in a white tiles room, she was cornered by pencils (comments) pointing at her…now she’s free standing bold on those white tiles furnitures, this time she has a pencil in her hand and she’s completing a crossword with ‘Hwasa’ and ‘Crazy’. Basically she’s saying I’m crazy, so what? Again with the lyrics ‘In a word I’m out of my mind so far I’m alive’ like she has to go crazy working on music to really live. In the ending scene there is another recurring theme since Maria, the snake, another symbol of rebirth, transformation. Historically, serpents and snakes represent fertility or a creative life force. Of course that scene is hinting to another mv she will release for another track from Guilty Pleasure album. Hwasa co-wrote and co-composed 2 out of 3 tracks and this is the first time she teams up with non-Korean music producers.
I love that you're checking out the Kpop Queens. Hwasa, Jessi etc... let me suggest you look at BIBI. The songs 'Vengeance' and 'Animal Farm'. Also try Jessi's 'Different Type of X'.
Originally this was titled "Excuse You, I'm a Bitch" (that's still printed on the sweat shirt) the censors wouldn't let her so it changed to I'm a "bich" Korean word that sounds like bitch. The dress she is wearing coming out of the box of water (rebirth?) is the same she is wearing at the end of "Maria". She has said that Maria is the good ending and this is the bad ending.
Hey You Guys should also Check out the others Solos of the other Girls and Hwasas newest song: Moonbyul - Lunatic & Eclipse / Solar - Spit & Honey / Wheein - Water Color & In the Mood - and Hwasas newest song: I Love My Body Just as Info for you: Hwasa was bullied in the first time Mamamoo debuted cause her teights are to "huge" - but she never let this get to her and always stays as she is. Thats why her Songs are always have a telling message like: Be Yourself, Love Yourself as you are. I Love This Group they are my favourite female Kpop Group, thanks for checking them out !
yess hwasa is so good, I have a recommendation for y’all which is a group called Tvxq I say u watch bolero live, love in the ice live, mirotic, tonight, & tri-angle to start y’all off I guarantee u will be hooked after taking a listen, they are a 2nd gen group that started as 5 members but are now active as 2 since 3 of them left in 2009, they were running the industry then & are pioneers for the kpop industry opening many doors, I personally enjoy there music more as 5 members so I recommend u start with there songs that have them altogether bc those songs are untouchable, I would appreciate y’alls reaction🫡
Actually 빛 in Korean means like flash or light but when you hear it in English it means something else maybe she wanted it to sound like that but she didn't mean the B word😭😂
My view but by starting with Hwasa's solo material, you are hearing the best out of the four Mamamoo lady's solo material. Moonbyul, is a close second. Again, that is my view. I don't believe you will dislike any of Mamamoo's solo material 😇😎
Looove Hwasa. Hope you guys check out the other mamamoo members' solos too XDD Edit: ah just got to the part that you guys said you'll do that soon. Awesome ^__^
I love your videos, they are very funny, please keep reacting to Mamamoo, some of her songs are: Wind flower, Yes I am, Piano Man and Mr. Ambiguous, you will like them a lot. You can also react to another of its members, maybe you like Moonbyul's music, some of their songs are: Shutdown (feat. Seori), Absence, Eclipse and LUNATIC.
