Lol taking his own picture and calling it iconic. Most pictures that are iconic have a story and a moment that’s highlighted in history, and taken by other people. Nothing iconic with that picture
As a long time Michael Jackson fan, I think it was a good idea for Micheal to work with new producers after Thriller and Bad. With Teddy Riley and R. Kelly, his sound evolved and he was able to produce hits for the next generation.
Y’all please don’t trust VLADTV as a creditable source. “Ben” was Michael Jackson’s 1st number 1 Billboard Hot 100 single, it was nominated for an Oscar and won a Golden Globe Award. The 2 solo albums released after “Ben” on Motown Records as well as many of the Jackson 5’s albums post 1972 were commercial disappointments due to overexposure and a lack of creative input and a lack of quality control on the songs that were released. When they met on the set of “The Wiz” in 1977 when Michael was 19, The Jacksons were in a rough spot commercially once again due to a lack of creative freedom. In 1978, they released the “Destiny” album and the album was written and produced by the brothers and this is what put them back on the map and granted Michael to do a new solo record and that’s when Michael and Quincy made “Off The Wall” in 1979. They didn’t break up because Michael recorded songs without him. Michael had a full studio at his house and recorded countless songs without Quincy there. They broke up due to the fact that they were butting heads about creative direction and royalty percentages. They had mostly outgrown each other by the end of the 80s. Whenever Michael released his albums after “Bad”, he would submit the finished albums to Quincy for his opinion before he would submit the album to the record label. Vlad is so misleading.
Came to say this! Vlad either is just a MJ hater or doesn’t know the facts. Thanks for clearing this up - calling THE Michael trash is diabolical work.
Wasn’t he referring to solo albums specifically? not singles, not Jackson 5/Jacksons albums? it wasn’t until after OTW where his solo albums was absolutely *dominating* the charts - ALL the charts, internationally
Vlad is out here glazing quincy Jones, claiming that MJs albums before quincy were trash, forgetting that quincy Jones produced a total of 84 albums in his career.. And literally ALL OF THEM FLOPPED EXCEPT FOR THE 3 MJ ALBUMS. Quincy Jones never had a best selling album without MJ. Meanwhile MJ left quincy Jones and created two more massive bestsellers without quincy Jones. Dangerous sold more than 40M copies till date, HIStory sold 25M copies, both outsold off the wall. Dangerous even outsold bad at first until bad got re-released in 2012. Quincy never had that level of success before or after MJ. MJ had already sold 100M records with the Jackson's before working with quincy. Vlad needs to set his records straight. None of quincys own albums managed to sell more than 2M copies. Man please
idk if we can call “less than 2million sold” as a _flop_ lol The Dude gone platinum, the Roots soundtrack went gold, a bunch of his jazz records hit #1 on their respective chart… it aint many jazz albums that sold 2million anyway, if that’s gonna be our standard of “flop or not”
Ben came out during the time he was in the Jackson 5 smmfh after the Jackson 5 they were the Jacksons and he didn't release a solo album until Off The Wall
72 “got to be there” , 72”Ben”, 73 “music & me” 75, “forever Michael” all before 79 .. Also let’s not forget the iconic Jacksons albums from 76 to 80 , Vlad has no idea what he’s talkin about
Vlad says certain things about someone in a particular field to another person whos not knowledgeable of that field. Thats what he does to avoid being fact checked and embarrased on his own show
Vlad had MJ’s discography all wrong! Lol talking about Ben flopped and didn’t have any solo hits! He was still with the Jackson 5 when Ben came out fool!!
Yes, it could be argued Quincy didn't want to get back with Michael as he wanted the partnership to end on a high seeing as he couldn't top Thriller album with the Bad album selling 35 million copies. For all we know in the industry, a producer can only have a 3 album good run with a particular artist before it goes downhill.
Michael wrote and arraigned This Place Hotel, Don't stop till get enough, Billie Jean is Michael. Truth is, Quincy never replicated the success he had Michael.
Michael had multiple solo records - Music & Me and Forever Michael came after Ben (I had all his solo albums). True - the numbers were not great, and it was just essentially MJ doing J5 music by himself with the Motown crew. As far as Q and MJ spliting: MJ wanted a new sound and wanted to work with multiple producers; it was a mutual parting of the ways based on Teddy Riley's own account (which ironically was shared on Vlad) as well as Rodney and Bruce Sweiden -- and others in the circle. Quincy's best work was during the bebop era producing Miles Davis, Ella Fitzgerald (Jazz), Dizzy and his best album to me was Body Heat - classic! The Dude is a very good album too
It was money, essentially. MJ wanted more production credit (which he got co-producer credit on "Bad" on most of the songs). Quincy always felt he was owed more. He even sued the estate of MJ once MJ got all of his publishing back for early albums...

The "Jacksons" last album was big, then Michael was making Rock with You etc, so don't listen to this guy dumb down our culture that he doesn't know anything about, do your own research.
Another possible reason why Quincy didn't want to get back with Michael is the fact he noticed a change in the music industry with hip hop becoming more popular therefore Quincy decided to call it a day.
Vlad said that pic with him and Quincy is iconic, as if it’s the lil Kim poster or the death row photo with all the label. “I thought it was such an iconic picture”. Most iconic pictures are taken by OTHER people. same way legends are told by OTHER people

Michael was supposed to do 3 projects with quincy. MJ was under the impression that the 3 projects were going yo be "off the wall" " the ET storybook" and "thriller" it's just that quincy and his team didn't count the ET storybook as a part of the 3 album deal. By the time quincy met with Michael jackson for the bad album Mike already had other producers working on about 5 songs and there was very little that Mike would allow quincy to change. Quincy was able to work on a few songs but they say Mike was being incredibly stubborn and quincy was arguing with Mike about his skin changes and because Mike refused to work on quincy jones' projects like "secret garden" with berry white, James Ingram, etc Their relationship was strained ever since
Michael never bricked 😂 Michael always produced all of his tracks at home and then brought them to the studio for Quincy to reproduce. Quincy and MJ separated amicably and recommended Teddy Riley to MJ.
