There's a nostalgic, melancholic, yet so achingly familiar feel to west Slavic composers piano pieces. Case in point, Liszt, Chopin and Dvořák. They make my heart yearn for a place I've never been yet it feels like home. Love from Kenya.

The rendition was beautiful: partially memory, partially reading, but all feeling. You put your soul into this and I felt it.

Though they’re different pieces of course, this gives me a Clare de Lune kind of vibe. Just this aching longing beauty that is somehow infused with hope and peace. Beautiful. Wonderful performance. Do this at your next high school reunion. Killer.

When I first learned these pieces in highschool I felt the same way. Although written by 2 different composers, the romantic sentiment and elegance felt quite similar. But I think Claire de Lune is a bit easier to play. I can still play that piece pretty well by memory, but I haven’t touched Liebestraum for years. I might revisit it now since it’s such a lovely piece.

I play it like that because my fingers puts strength carried on with the main melody, I’m trying to control this and instead have a gentle consistency during the first part 😂

@@puggaming450 , it’s a Vogel. If you’re familiar with the Schimmel brand, this is made by the son-in-law’s company. Similar action and sound but better price! Mine has really opened up its tone over the years and has a lovely shimmery top without compromising a rich bass. I love it.

Very beautiful performance. Very sensitive and well thought out. The break just after the first cadenza was a very nice touch... for MY taste just an iota too long (as I said it's MY thoughts on it...which means little in the grand scheme of it all). I'd maybe like to hear a bit more breadth right from the beginning of the Cmajor section. I realize it's a more "stringent" area and for most that means an immediate increase in tempo, but I think adding some breadth to this section to start with and then letting it build on it's own... the writing itself allows for this. Don't let your left hand get away from itself in that first bar of Cmajor. It's the catapult for this section. I loved your second cadenza! Beautiful! Just the right amount of everything. Perfectly timed break. Some very nice colors in the last section. I really like the amount of time you took with the last closing cadences. Again, very beautiful performance!

I learned this piece over twenty years ago, and I still face challenges with it. Stay close to the keys and when you get to the big octave leaps, try to think about moving horizontally across the keyboard instead of up and down. That has helped me a lot recently.

I came here after listening to Lang Lang and Khatia Buniashvili playing the same piece in their UA-cam videos. Perhaps because I am untrained and ignorant, I could not tell much difference. Only that you perhaps should memorize the piece. Lang Lang plays softly but Khatia plays with energy and sharply. I think that if you memorize the piece, then it will become a part of you and you will be able to mould it. God bless you.
