My first short film, shot November of 2007, in Long beach CA. My rendition to Sting's instrumental piece "I Miss You Kate". written, shot and directed by Alan Rubi
Terrific 1. It's one of Stings hidden treasures - I had it on the B Side of a 12 inch single 2. I'm going through a very painful split and the film and music is incredibly cathartic. Thank You.
Nice short piece. I was in film school back in 1996 and I remember a girl in my class had completed a really moving short that she wanted to put to this particular song but she was unable to find a suitable copy. I was so intrigued with what this song could possibly sound like that I spent a weekend canvassing record stores in a 100 mile radius until I found a shop that had a CD single for "All this Time" which includes this song as the B side. I bought 2 copies, gave her one and kept one.
I love this one, but I have to say it's largely taken from the love theme from the movie Spartacus from 1960. Check it out for yourself. I love it, but it's a pretty clear line you can draw from one to another.
Jason Curry Okay. Thanks. Part of this song is played during St. Augustine In Hell, which is on Ten Summoner's Tales. You can hear it in the background while some guy says a few lines.
I've watched this again and again over the years. You did such a phenomenal job putting this musical art to visual form. Thank you so much.

Alan that was an amazingly shot video, thank you for sharing it with me!
Hey this was really beautiful! I just stumbled on this searching for the song "I Miss You Kate." Nice job!
I have this piece in a CD called "The Chicago Sessions", recorded in a small bar.
He wrote it for his daughter. I always listen to it when I'm away on business and miss mine.
Listen to the start of this Bill Evans documentary....ua-cam.com/video/QwXAqIaUahI/v-deo.html

Which part of the song sounds like the Love Theme from Spartacus? The slow part or the faster part in the middle? Obviously I've never seen Spartacus.
Slow part. Most of the song, really. Just search for the theme on UA-cam.

As much as I love Sting, it sounds a bit too much like the Love Theme from
Spartacus.
Yeeeessss
Actually, I believe he (sting) wrote it for his deceased mother.
i like your film but to REALLY suit the music it has to be in black and white :/
