The Langmuir Pro is still my best tool purchase of 2020. I liked the crossfire but the pro I love. As for the workflow. Most 2D design isn’t that difficult to learn. I still use Inkscape or Illustrator. I just can’t focus long enough to get proficient at 360. Maybe now that I’m a man of leisure I’ll make it happen. Right after I complete my 14 weeks at GTS.

      Thank you Rob. The mag brake is from Baileigh Industrial. The plasma quench is great because it slows down the evaporation and the water that does evaporate leaves the quench behind. @510BIGD Рік тому

      @@HouseofChop Good question. Since I'm getting the crossfire in the next 30 days I'd be interested in knowing. Guess you could put the RV antifreeze in a metal coffee can and heat it up and run a flame over it to test it.

      @@510BIGD Congratulations on your new table. It’s a game changer. Just an awesome tool. Your going to love it
      I’d be a bit careful with the antifreeze not just for it’s potential to catch fire but also the fumes it might put out. I’m not saying it won’t work or it’s definitely a bad idea but we are talking about heating it hotter than the surface of the sun. A plasma torch reaching 45k° can make some interesting things happen. You’ll see when you fire it up it’s a little cauldron of hell under that torch. Also it’s important to consider the elements you are adding. As the metal melts it will interact with the super heated liquid and all sorts of interesting science could be happening. In fact some of liquid made for tables will still caution to not use aluminum or other metals because of this reactivity. Be safe and stay healthy.

    Do you think the z axis control is needed? It's a $550 upgrade.

    • @HouseofChop
      @HouseofChop Рік тому +1

      Great question. Absolutely needed and I will upgrade my table to have it. Material is expensive and nearly every cut that has gone off the rails when I’ve been using my table would have been fine with the Z axis in play. It’s one of those things that will cover its own cost in short order. Especially if you plan on doing small runs of things.

    I’m confused, what’s the point of the plasma cutter if you’re not using it? Everything in the video could have been made on the table in simple sections and simply bolted together or welded.
    Other wise nice video and nice work.

      Appreciate you watching and taking a moment to leave a comment. Honest question, what part of the project did you think would have been better served by the plasma cutter? I’m always down for learning something.
      Much of what I do is not in service of the project I’m doing but the one that is coming up. Many times I’ll take the long way around to get more proficient on a tool or a technique that I’ll need for something more demanding later.
