I'm not sure how Harry is reading the law on this. The action that the alliance is bringing against T&V cites Ohio law specifying 3rd-degree felonies for damages over $150,000. If they can show Springfield has suffered that loss, T&V may be off to the big house. It wouldn't surprise me if millions in economic loss has been suffered. And there are charges for lesser losses as well.
There is no SC-determined immunity for a _vice_ -president. Even if the two managed to take the White House, Lump's veep could go to jail.

That any high profile person can blatantly spread unfounded stories in order to incite hatred and danger towards others should not go unpunished. In this particular case the Haitians in Springfield have been targeted specifically and knowingly by Vance and Trump with no regard for the safely of anyone in Springfield. The root cause of this problem is 100% down to the Lies told by Trump and Vance. They SHOULD be held to account and indicted. A civilised country would do so immediately.

Even if it doesn't lead to a criminal charge, it should help. Trump has to respond to the filing. Either he responds in a way that protects him legally, or he doesn't. The ways that help him should reduce chaos. If he ignores attorneys again, maybe we'll get the criminal charge after all.

Sounds like you're saying it's "just politics" and therefore not a big deal. In reality it's a very big deal to the Haitian community. I hope they get the justice they deserve.
While Tramp can claim that he is not responsible for the story, despite continuing to broadcast it, it falls under his immunity since he can say he was just reporting what he was told and he had the right to warn people of this terrible situation. Vance is a different story. He admitted in a live interview that he made up the whole thing and that it had no basis in fact. He is not covered by immunity so he should be charged in a normal manner in a real court for inciting violence and denying the Haitians of their civil rights.
