I remember when the University College of Virginia, a four-year college much-needed in Northern Virginia, received its university status in 1972. Now, students in the region didn't have to go all the way to Richmond, or pay the huge fees for the universities in Washington, DC. I wanted to go there but, as usual at that time, I had little or no money and was already deciding on a meal or a bus ticket to work. It has grown from its small campus in Fairfax, Virginia to the incredible university it is today.
It's a lot bigger than when I saw it in the early 1970s. The dorms hadn't been built yet! It didn't get University status (by an act of the Virginia General Assembly) until 1972, but was a respected school even when it was part of the University of Virginia. It was in the City of Fairfax, Virginia. Now they have multiple campuses including, I think, one in South Korea?
i want to now if international applicants with vocational high school background (means lack of key courses like science ) will be harder to get enroll in university in us....
Out of state is generally more expensive than in state. Go to George Mason’s website and I’m sure there are plenty scholarship opportunities. Also, scholarships.com is a great resource when it comes to getting funds for school.
hey i am interested in Mason and wanted to know how you liked it? like academics, people and professors. also. i heard that it is a commuter school and not alot of people are on campus is that true?
I’m a student at mason! And I’m a commuter. Like there are a lot of commuters, but there also lots who live on campus as well. It kind of half commuters (students who still live at home) and off campus students (students who live one or two block from campus and frat and sorority houses) and the rest of the half is on campus students. Campus is most busiest Monday-Thursday. There still students on campus on Friday but not that many. And on the weekends there still students on campus but not that many. I know because I’m in a frat and all frats meetings meet on Sunday. I’m a commuter but I spend most of my time on campus. It not that busy during the summer because a lot students usually go back home for the summer. But the JC is loud during the fall and spring semester. But for me I love mason. People are nice and some professor are good and some courses are good. Campus events are nice too. I just hate commuting. Hope that helps you.
