    that is just inhuman. and the fact you played this piece on an absurdly high action guitar is just out of this world. great video!

      Thanks, really. I love your words.
      Uploading this cover (without amp, no high quality, no effects, no warming up...) was just a random joke (and play after my shower...a true story).

    Man, good to see that these songs are possible. I’ve only been working on KC songs for maybe half a year now, but I’ve made some good progress, no doubt thanks to covers like yours reminding me that it’s doable and that Fripp is not a god in a humans body

      Any methods of practicing the cross-picking you’d recommend?

      I really recommend starting with larks 1 and larks 3 to develop technique (And is interesting to play this larks tunes with and without cross-picking)
      And before anything remember this: If you try to take a 10/10 in college, you'll get an 8 maybe a 9...so i first try to play any of this (at first) at slower tempos, but to nail it... i think you need to try at higher tempos (an 11 to be a 10/10)
      My advice is to learn to play the guitar. The best exercises are not written in books, are what you make to develop what you can't do.
      Sometime ago, i wanted to develop my technique to play anything. I found this songs in Crimson, my favourite band ever, so i tried...
      In some hours i "could" play this tune, but i wanted this ability. I know how to use "the Fripp techniques" to improve my "guitar bottle necks" as a player, and then, it is when it matters

    This is very interesting, very impressive! …but you probably need to play it _slower_ to play it right, because some of those notes need to be sustained at the same time as you play the others.

      Obviusly! It was a joke, this is from the time when Fripp and Toyah postes the "Fripp playing Larks IV with Toyah dancing atound him" hahaha

      I only use standard tuning so...i tried the song in that tuning and i think it is accurate (anyway this was more like a joke to R.Fripp 😂 during Sunday Lunch's beginnings)

      Thanks, Ihad just learnt the notes and it really was a First take, the guitar sound is awful and without any amp...and almost kind of a Joke to Fripp (without success 🧐), but i think is really funny to play these song in standard tuning+strat+random high action+extreme speed
      Anyway, maybe one day i will do a serious record of the piece!

      And remember, if you practice after having a shower your fingers are still wet and is harder than ever to be accurate. Believe me, when i usually play the brutal part distorted (and with some warming up) sounds quite better.
      But is an excellent exercise as a guitarist!!! 😃

    Excellent man! You should be sustaining certain notes instead of just playing them as straight sixteenths, and the same goes for your fracture cover, but still crazy impressive. How long have you been playing?

    • @ferdelafdea
      @ferdelafdea  4 роки тому +5

      Yes i know everything, but you can't sustain anything at that speed 🤣🤣
      What Fracture cover, the full cover? If you can write me a comment with the exact time
      And...now i am 20, but i started playing with Crimson tunes like 8 years ago, so i kind of developed a way to play like Fripp

    • @blukimbo3450
      @blukimbo3450 4 роки тому +1

      @@ferdelafdea Yeah its the full cover, during the very beginning of the moto-perpetuo part (2:46). I just looked it over and after playing the part myself i think i know whats going on. It sounds like you sustain the note your pinky finger plays instead of the note your middle finger is playing. Very subtle difference, but it hardly matters. Looking forward to more covers in the future! Maybe even something of your own?

    • @ferdelafdea
      @ferdelafdea  4 роки тому +1

      @@blukimbo3450 Oooh! Let me explain myself
      I can play Fracture moto both ways, normal picking and reversed picking.
      I developed reverse picking technique because:
      1)Sounds better to me, more pure and less exercise
      2)My guitar was used before i bought it, so no matter who fixes/repairs it...it always makes some "string buzz" (i think is said that way in english). That annoyed me, so i developed reverse picking in Fracture (harder, really... but it sounds quite better to me)

    • @mikhailali9591
      @mikhailali9591 Рік тому

      @@ferdelafdea Yes you can, not to brag but I can do it, to it took years to practice and you have to work to maintain it. The point is the sustain the slow notes to sound like two independent voices.
      Regardless good job!

    • @jacknov5525
      @jacknov5525 Рік тому +1

      @@ferdelafdea Finally found someone else who tried that too :D Reverse picking in that part just seems more natural to play to me. But I'm not really a guitarist TBH, I just like to learn some crazy difficult riffs from time to time with no real purpose other than to challenge myself. Looking at your videos it seems you like challenges like that too. I recommend Paganini's Caprice 24, that's fun to learn on a guitar 😅

      Obviously the point of playing one of the hardest pieces of guitar ever, in a bathrobe, guitar unplugged, at an impossible BPM... is because It is my really serious cover of the piece.
      This was released when the Fripp and Toyah Sunday lunches started...and the point was pretty obvius...is funny
      But, i'd love to invite you to watch any of my other videos (my Fracture cover for example)
      ...and i would also love to see you playing the piece with my 300$ second hand guitar with that really high action and all the musicality at 160bpm 😂, anyway...good luck!
