12 Day Solo Roar Hunting Adventure | West Coast New Zealand 2022

- With 12 days worth of food, hunting kit and survival gear I set off on an epic solo traverse of a West Coast mountain range of the Southern Alps of New Zealand. The hunt was filmed during the red deer rut, there were plenty of roaring stags found towards the end of the trip and a bunch of chamois encountered along the way!
Watch along as I bring you along for the adventure, showing you the epic mountain scenery I was surrounded by and the highs and lows of hunting public land here in New Zealand.

Yea was a very tough decision to make haha… Thought long and hard about it but decided not to as I was looking for something with a few more points, it will definitely make a nice trophy for someone though! Was hoping for some good hunting karma too by leaving it but sadly never happened that trip 😅😂
Wow, incredible. I am 65 years old and have hunted New Zealand one time in 2010. Took a small Tahr with a bow. However, you are a real man. Unbelievable achievement. You guys do outstanding work with video and hunting. Keep it up, you are an inspiration.

Camped at that Tarn at 10 minutes a great spot although its had some pressure the last few years since it featured in a youtube clip. Its pretty epic area for sure.
Yea it’s a pretty mint spot up there! Oh really can’t say I’ve seen it! Yea it’s a bit of a balancing act trying to show off our epic back country but also try and not give the spots away…

Awesome scenery as always - loved it. A little surprised you didn't take that stag. If it were me and I'd been trudging across the mountains with all that kit for ten days, I think I'd have drawn a bead on him. Then again, that would be a once-in-a-lifetime trip for me.
Haha yea definitely came close to having a crack! In the end I was happy enough to just him, it was awesome to see!

Cheers mate! We use a few different cameras but the main camera we use for all the animal footage is a Nikon P1000
I love it! Do you ever have an issue with the drone scaring off deer? It seems any time send mine up for a look around, I never see anything…
We're really selective about when and where we fly it, if we're wanting to hunt an area we don't put it up! Definitely spooks anything within earshot
Feel ya on the Data loss... Atleast your once in a lifetime New zealand living hunting stint wasnt DROPPED on a harddrive.... which broke... im still gutted. Keep up the adventures an the footage takes care of itself ive learnt

It’s a 90 + 10 L Tatonka pack, they are an awesome pack, virtually bomb proof and can handle up to 50kgs of weight!
Would you say there are fairly versatile. In the terms that you can kinda of shrink or confine them down for smaller hunts as well like only a few nights?
Why don’t you do a video on all of your gear that you take on your trip? And what you like and dislike about any gear.
Yea we’ve got a few ideas in the pipeline for doing a “what’s in my pack” kind of video so keep your eyes peeled!

Sorry mate we don't like to share or name the spots we visit! We don't try all that hard to hide where we go if you know the areas, but alot of time and effort goes into route finding and exploring to find these spots.
