In this quick tech how to video, I’m going to show you how to turn off the ask to buy option for a family member on your iCloud account, on an iPhone.
This is a great feature to have enabled, especially if you’re like me and have a young kid who feels like they need to download every game they see an ad for, but at some point, you will probably want to turn it off. Or maybe, it was defaulted on, and you don’t want or need it.
To do this, open Settings.
Tap your name at the top to get into your account settings.
Next, tap Family Sharing.
Inside of here, you will see your family members. You’ll see yourself and any other adults and parents or guardians. If you have a child on your account, you will also see them here.
Scroll down into the Shared with your family section, and if you have Ask to buy enabled for your child, you will see it there.
Inside, you’ll see the children in your family that ask to buy is enabled for. Tap the child, and on the next screen you can toggle off Ask to buy. If you want to reenable it, or if it was never enabled in the first place, just go ahead and toggle the switch to on.
And that’s how you turn off ask to buy for a family member on your iCloud account.

What if ur not the organizer
It’s useless of a video because you can’t even if your not the organizer I’m unsubbing

Ask To Buy isn’t on my phone at all and it’s frustrating because my Son is 22! What are they still making him ask permission?! I’ve called and tried to talk to people with zero help……

I don’t even have an “ask to buy” option, but I still need parental permission to install apps. The family organizers aren’t even getting a notification for any apps I request to install, so I’m really frustrated and confused right now.

If it doesn’t work, try going on the thing ask to buy thing again, and if it works then it should say “Set up ask to buy” then you should shut down your whole phone. After, make sure to update your phone and then you got it!!!

It probably is a great feature if it worked. It refused to send me the permission link so I turned it off. It still asks for the password so I didn’t really need it anyway.
Yeah it was working fine for the most part. Then one day it stopped working. Almost as if Apple screwed up something on their end. No settings on any of my devices were changed.
What do i do if i don’t even have the ‘ask to buy’ option??

Thanks for the video. Just one question! I turned off "Ask to Buy" for my child's device. But when purchasing apps on her device, it still asks for permission. Reason I want to turn it off is because my device stopped receiving notifications to authorize those purchases. I just stopped receiving them on my phone and don't know why.

YEAH EXACTLY LITERALLY NEITHER OF MY PARENTS GET ANYTHING ANYMORE
The problem is when i have ask to buy on and my son buys anything the alert randomly shows on different devices instead of ALL my devices. Phone, ipad, computer. So i have to check every device each time to see where that notification is. 🤦♀️ i finally just disabled it. Such a pain

You need to be the parent to take it off I think because he he was the parent and it worked for him
if ur parents are the organiser an won’t let u turn it off, just sign out an make a new Apple ID, hope that helps

If ur struggling, tell ur dad or mum (whoever set it up) to borrow their phone. Then follow the steps in the video and turn it off. It still wont work but when u restart ur phone it should work

Well, I want to respect my mom’s Settings, but for some reason, though she’s not getting the notifications on her phone
She sometimes gets them, but sometimes she doesn’t
