XL Falcon, trim ,taut and terrific. And the early one's flimsy... The XR Falcon and ZA Fairlaine look magnificent...! I was a kid when they were released, and they made the equivalent GMH vehicles look a little old and small. They became the template for the average Aussie car. Beautiful cars 👏👍
It’s 3 S as in three speed auto trans not engine capacity, they were a 170 ci six and as the badge says super pursuit which is the 200 ci six both were 7 main bearing engines replacing the previous Falcons that were 4 main bearing units, they also could be optioned with a 289 ci V8’s in the XR series, the ZA Fairlane were standard with the 289 in the 500’s but you could also get a 200 ci six even with a three on the tree on the base Fairlane custom and there were optional transmissions with engine combinations in them also
Beautiful stuff mate, you’d be surprised how well a stock example drives.

What about the 1956 Thunderbird or the 1967 Mercury Cougar?
It's not a 3.5. That badge refers to the Borg Warner 35 transmission
I have never seen a 3.5 .I am not sure but I think it is 3.s for 3 speed, not sure.
Is that XR vintage burgundy?
Sure looks like it.
