I randomly came upon this video while searching for some behind the scenes of John on LOTR. Just wanted to watch a few seconds of it to see what this cameo thing is about. What a wonderful and heartfelt way to wish Nathaniel happy birthday and really have sort of a little monologue expanding on you two guyses love for Lord of the Rings and relationships and passing of time. Thank you for posting this video here. Really made my day watching it! Wish you two all the best!
This is the most heart-felt and intimate such "Cameo" I've ever seen. Most are throwaways; this clearly is not. JN is such a presence and who, IMHO, steals every shot upon which he's called. His Denethor (from LOTR) introduced me to the actor, and his tragic character lingers in my mind, so much so that I need to read the books yearly.. And both Bishops are so full of performance nuances that keeps my understanding a VERY complex storyline -- as do all of his colleagues -- made viewing a singular experience. Beyond that, all I can say his: Happy belated Birthday. And as you know, Water won't sing along to that treacly tune. Not to mention that Gene needs to be milked.)

I read LOTR as a teen decades ago. I don't think the films could be topped in capturing the feel of the books.
