Good show Larry. 1981 is a year of transition still good albums but not as much as in the seventies. Good ratings. Keep these tier Lists coming!! Thank you!!!

Face Value is a great album. I also love October and Almost Blue which is the only Elvis Costello album I own. Some other great albums from 1981 are:
    Killers - Iron Maiden
For Those About to Rock …- AC/DC
Diary of a Madman - Ozzy Osbourne
    Mob Rules - Black Sabbath
Heaven Up Here - Echo and the Bunnymen
Juju - Siouxsie and the Banshees
Point of Entry - Judas Priest
    Nightclubbing - Grace Jones
    Movement - New Order
Music from the Elder - Kiss
and one of my favourite Ringo albums - Stop and Smell the Roses

Hey Larry good show per usual. Moving Pictures and Abacab are in my top 15-20 albums of all-time...definite S tier imo. I too love Keep it Dark and Another Record for deep tracks off Abacab. 1981 has 50+ albums that are excellent quality rock n roll records. I was 12 in 1981 so it influenced me differently . I would have 10-20 releases in S tier.

Larry you had the ELO box set with all their albums from 71-86. So you had to hear “Time”. You probably would really like it.

In my opinion Rush's Moving Pictures is a masterpiece. Abacab I love the drum track on the title song. 😎👍

100% agree! MP is in my top 5 all-time records. Abacab in my top 20 all-time. Phil's drumming and his drum sound on it are absolutely phenomenal. Imo, MP is the best sounding (recorded/mixed/performed) record is history of rock.

ELOs Time is considered their last great album. First one I bought. Funny 81 and 82 were the most albums I ever bought in a given period EVER.. I am 61. To me McCartney started in 1980 with McCartney ll beyond. Then I started from the beginning at McCartney. Same as ELO. And I love the TRANS, REACTOR, HAWKS and DOVES Neil Young times.

My second buying period came around 92. Beck, White Stripes, Collective Soul and Kate Bush. So 83-92 was my period of not buying new music but buying all that became before it in the 60-70s. But along the way Thomas Dolby was doing his greatness.

I like your selection and your ranking. I have all three S tiers on CD. I would put the Stones Tattoo You in the S tier, also.

S tier albums from 1981 not listed worth checking out are Wild Gift-X(my AOTY) and Youth of America-Wipers. I might move Trust by EC up to S tier, I think his most underrated album. Flowers of Romance by Public Image LTD and Killers from Iron Maiden are A tier

Somewhere In England in C is fair. I kind of like the dullness of the title/cover, in a funny way. This whole video is invalid, though- there's no inclusion of Looking Back With Love by Mike Love, the greatest musician of our time!

BTW, I think it is better to use the RYM Popular feature (instead of Top feature) if you want to recap the list of albums for a year. Otherwise you just end up scrolling through a bunch of obscure albums that you dont recognise

The J.Geils band was short lived with me, when Freeze Frame came out that is when I lost interest, although the title song is good and I like it, and maybe a couple more on the album, but for the most part, not that good in my opinion. Full House to me is their best. 😎👍

Ultimate Classic Rock has a list of the "worst Beatles solo albums" which I think is calling for a Canadian Studmuffin video review. ;)

Not my favorite year for albums I believe the music scene was moving in the direction of dance club stuff it was more about that than great Rock albums. that idea lasted a long time
