For me Montserrat Caballe can do no wrong. She’ll be forever the best in voice and character.
Montserat the best.....Anna Bolena❤💖❣💝
❤️❤️
give us complete performance, please
It's clear that Caballe isn't having a great night, but they're wonderful together! Not to mention that Caballe is close to 50 here and may be pre or post menopausal which can affect the voice. Also if I'm not mistaken she had a cancer and other health issues. I'd take this over most contemporary artists
What can be better?

Oh, why people are so cruel and unjust. I know, we have better recording from famou Callas-Simionato performance, bt this is almost the same level, be judicious, this is very good Anna Bolena perfomance, for me much better than higly praised Sutherland one for example.....
One can never compare Sutherland with Caballé, Sutherland WAS a bel canto singer while Caballé was NOT. I love Caballé in Verdi roles or La Gioconda, for example. Unfortunatelly Sutherland go to Anna Bolena very late in her career. Caballé in 1980 was only 47. Sutherland with 47 was beyond compare.
Fanspeak.
@@liedersanger1 how else ? Do you think that people writing here do not care the singer who they comment? Would it make any sense??
It IS possible to love a singer but to recognize her faults, and to avoid insisting that others feel the same way as you do. Im not saying it's easy. It's sophisticated and emotionally mature.
@@cadoh8143 ahahahh what movie have you been watching?
What year please?
1982
it was a very black evening, I was there and people was very critical agaist allthe cast, Caballe, Obratsova and Pliska it was 1980 The fan of Callas made all very nervous until Caballe in al dolce guidami had a note sung shouting
I love Montserrat but here she doesn't sound pretty at all. Elena Obratzova was fabulous.
I agree - love her to death but she perhaps had a day off....but Elena is truly gorgeous!

Bolena was never one of Caballe's great interpretations. It did not fit her temperament nor the harshness that often crept into her voice at forte passages. It is a valiant effort but there have been many better Bolena's. Obratzsova's voice is not really suited to the role she is singing either. This is a younger woman and Obratzsova's huge, heavy voice has difficulty with giving that impression. This is not to say they are not trying but the roles demand something that, at least on this occasion neither of them are providing. No comparisons need to be made to others to hear this. Only a knowledge of bel canto, Donizetti, and the characters. If we fans spent more time discussing these roles and singers rather than fault finding in defense of some favorite of our own, opera as a whole would be better off.
Caballé was sick here and she was forced by the theatre to sang despite her illness... is was a very sad night specially because of the loggioni who couldn’t stop yelling nonsense at her
Keeping the adecuate distance, one tend to think of Callas/Simoniato.
