Ha! You know in my ship's log I always cross out "Destination" and write in "Bound For"--sailor's are never assured of anything. Happy New Year Patrick!
All said and done, it looks like the passage went well and weather didn't pose too big a problem. At least the weather is warmer and no snow or ice for a while. Happy sailing.
Merry Christmas Kevin🎄‼️Welcome to FL. That sure is a “crispy krincaly” foresail with shiny hanks you got there! Even so sleepy and tired, you make fantastically awesome videos❤️ Stay Safe Gaffer Man 💪😎👍
Hey Kevin, Nice job as always with the Sailing and sleep deprivation is no fun at all , this I do know all to well from flying around the world on the back side of the clock. Fair Winds and Safe Sea's Robert North Star
I deprived myself of sleep quite a bit on my trip across the north sea a number of years ago... the most comical expression of this was when I went forward to tighten the screw that fixed a crossbar holding my bowsprit in place and I forgot either my screwdriver or some other tool I wanted to use to assist me in that task 4 times in a row. Fortunately you can swear as loud as you can scream when you are alone at sea and noone can hassle you about your use of language =)
Video is great! Sorry that you are fighting current that wants to take you north. Still glad you are trying this new route. If all goes well for you I may try same track at a later date. Merry Christmas & Happy New Year. Fair winds & following seas. ~
I apologize for the stupid questions. How do you sleep if you are a solo sailor? Do you have your sails up and keep the course? What if you run into something? What if the does weather change?
@@howtosailoceans1423 I've heard this before. Looks like the natural resources of the ocean are becoming quite depleted. I've heard back in the day fish were a plenty.
In restrospect, would it have been an option to anchor on the bank and wait a few days for a northeaster wind to push you over the gulf stream and over to Key West?
I have four of them. One is the Standard Horizon mushroom which feeds to my SH GX2100 VHF radio. The other is a Garmin eTRex. Then there's the Garmin InReach. Finally I have a USB GPS receiver which plugs into my laptop for using OpenCPN.
Don’t mock tinned macaroni cheese, -as a student I worked in a Michelin starred restaurant, at the end of each evening our star chef would savor a tin of cold macaroni cheese he kept in the fridge, it was all he would eat.
Omg.... long video.. One thing is for sure... when suffering from sleep deprivation... NEVER do video work!!! If you repeated one more time about the gulf stream...🤯 I was gonna shit
Proof that sailors are always going 'toward' a destination, not 'to' a destination. :-) Well done.

Nice work sir
The “Old Girl” is just beautiful. I notice her in every video. You take good care of her and it shows.
Thanks for making this high quality content and never begging for cash. The best SAILING channel ever.
I loved the way the clouds had a blue/green tint when they were over shallows (and where land could be found)
That water color over the Bank is quite beautiful, isn't it?
I found the videography very genuine, and enjoyable!! Thanks for this. Thumbed.
Great video. The focus on pure sailing and commentary on your passage is superb.
Thank you sir, and Happy New Year to you!
All said and done, it looks like the passage went well and weather didn't pose too big a problem. At least the weather is warmer and no snow or ice for a while. Happy sailing.
Yes, at least the weather is warmer ... Happy New Year, Richard.
Thank you, Kevin. You’re doing really well. That was a great 2 week passage. Stay safe. Get some sleep and plain sailing.
Jim

Thanks Paul, Happy New Year!
Sounds like smart sailing while exhausted! Glad you were able to look forward to rest.
Thanks Cliff, Happy New Year to you!

Thanks Robert, and Happy New Year!
Watching this makes me appreciate the speed and shallow draft of my trimaran. Beating a 3 kt current with 5 kts of speed makes for slow progress.
Great stuff, per usual, Kevin . . . Happy Holidays, man!
Happy New Year, Alfred, thanks for stopping by.
I hope you had a great Christmas, Kevin. Happy New Year!
Same to you as well!
Nice video, interesting stuff.
Hang in....experienced sleep deprivation in Ranger school and Viet Nam......no laughing matter.....take care of yourself.....Stott
Did not know you were a Ranger, Stott! Impressive. Happy New Year, stay warm up there...

It would bgreat if you showed a chart of your destination and your position as it gives a sense of scale ,thanks for your great videos
another good video and example of good seamanship, i have a 30 footer and i do this in the north sea, its good to compare how you do it
The North Sea has quite the reputation for moulding seamen, not a place to fool around ...

Happy New Year!
I apologize for the stupid questions.
How do you sleep if you are a solo sailor?
Do you have your sails up and keep the course?
What if you run into something?
What if the does weather change?
Looks like you could use some MRE'S onboard! They are great for passages!
Hello happy new year saludos
One of the few " sailing vlogs" that actually sails. Nice job ! Most sailing vlogs have become personality cultish.
Thanks for stopping by, Peter, and Happy New Year!
Aye m8, glad your Bahama Bank crossing went well. 👍
Indeed, a little nerve wracking though ... Happy New Year, m8!
Do you ever fish to supplement your supplies?
I used to, but rarely caught anything and it was a pain, so ...
Excellent Captain and sailor but a stinking fisherman. Merry Christmas and a great new sailing year!
@@howtosailoceans1423 I've heard this before. Looks like the natural resources of the ocean are becoming quite depleted. I've heard back in the day fish were a plenty.
Have you sailed across the Atlantic to UK? If you ever come to UK I would like to come to the harbor and meet you.
Been across the Atlantic, but not to the UK ... that might happen though, stay tuned ...
Kevin! Great video again! What’s that cool anchor t shirt you are wearing? Where can I find it???
That was a gift from Don at
maritimetees@zoho.com, give him a shout, I'm sure he'd be happy to help!
In restrospect, would it have been an option to anchor on the bank and wait a few days for a northeaster wind to push you over the gulf stream and over to Key West?
I was wondeting if he could anchor at cay sal.
Yes, people do anchor on the bank, but I was trying to beat a weather clock, so I pushed on ...
Yes, you can, although it's not well charted nor protected from what I hear.
Happy New Year Kev!
Same to you, and fair winds!
What is your typical sleep/watch schedule, since you are single handing?
Well offshore I mostly sleep at night, about 2 hours at a time.
Great video and no music to spoil the wonderful sound of the sea. Thanks for sharing. Hope you slept well👍⛵️⚓️
Warren s/y Legend
Happy New Year, Warren.
Any reason you would not heave-to and rest?
People anchor on the Bahama Bank, but I was racing a weather clock to get the to Keys on account of an approaching cold front.
those long nights and days are for young men. Be careful out there.
Indeed ...
what size if your Tohatso outboard?
3.5hp, four stroke.
Also, what GPS do you use?
I have four of them. One is the Standard Horizon mushroom which feeds to my SH GX2100 VHF radio. The other is a Garmin eTRex. Then there's the Garmin InReach. Finally I have a USB GPS receiver which plugs into my laptop for using OpenCPN.

It's a staple ...
🤣
I'd think that when one is sailing alone and becomes extremely tired the best thing is to just heave to and get some decent rest for safety sake.
Better if you're not in a current trying to sweep you from where you're going.
Your lack of sleep is making me sleepy...
What is "thin water"?
Shallow water, such as on the Bahama Bank.
Get some sleep, mate!
Been catchin' up on that ...
Omg.... long video..
One thing is for sure... when suffering from sleep deprivation...
