Yer some kind of vertical lift SL would be handy in some places down here, but there's still too many streets where cars get in the way and where there's not enough space to put bins on the road.
A lot of the councils in that area have these kind of streets and housing, because it's where Sydney's original population started developing/expanding. You should see some of the suburbs that are full of terraces... wouldn't be keen on living in those areas. Those curtains are a bummer, I tried to get some kind of view of the packer... best you can see is the faint outline of it lowering. With the right lifter, guess it's just how much the operator decides to lower it.
I'm not entirely sure to be honest, it seems that the curtains come with this type of bin-lifter... all I reckon it has to do with is stopping things from spilling out of the hopper.
Yer that could be a possibility, but then if that's the case, how come this truck (which is much more closed up on the tailgate) has it rather than the ones which are much more open? Seems like it's got something to do with this bin-lifter design, which is pretty much the same as the typical ones in the UK/Europe... be interesting to find out the purpose :D
Not totally sure, but the only reason I could think of would be safety or something? Thing is, I've only really ever seen the "curtains" on trucks with this lifter/tailgate design.
"I reckon this one could easily be mistaken for a truck in the UK!" Too right mate, I looked at the video and thought "Mitch in englnad?" but sadly no :(
Wow Mitch great job! Awesome drivers and Happy New Years!
The old days. Great fast lifters, But needed repairing alot when left down and hitting the ground.
I reckon the drivers would love it auto!!

I'm the Michael Jordan of the garbos, I'm the Achilles of the team

No these videos are just for people interested in garbage trucks, just share footage of different operations from all over the world.
@seedyftm 2 loaders and 1 driver here, helps get the job done nice and swiftly. Which council do you work in? 1200 bins eh... solid effort :)
Compaction Systems body and not totally sure about the age, but I reckon 2-3 years old
