My third video ever on UA-cam was this banger! This would end up being one of my only full Fats Waller transcription performances and remains one of my best videos of all time, especially considering I hadn't even *heard* of Fats Waller until the year before. Although I had experience playing ragtime from a young age, the "stride" piano of Tatum and Waller was *completely* new to me and a WHOLE different can o' worms (handful of keys, as it were). The fact that I was able to become comfortable in this style and memorize this within a year is one of my greatest accomplishments. In some ways this was my first big "hit" on UA-cam. I pushed this video a lot on Digg and Reddit, but it never really picked up any significant attention on social media. I got the sense, even back then, that in addition to UA-cam holding me back, I was also not finding popularity online because I was a dude and white the absolute worst combination for content creators even before wokeness completely took over and permanently rotted cyberspace. That being said, this video was seen by many of great ragtime pianists of the next generation, and remains one of the first full performances of a Fats Waller transcription by a modern pianist on UA-cam. It was also the #1 result for "handful of keys"--even above Waller himself--for many years, until Stephanie Trick's version eventually overtook it. The attempt at making my own "title" but also smacking the keys in the beginning makes me nostalgic for a different era of youtube when some random kid with crappy equipment can share high level proficiency like this with the whole world from his living room, a phenomenon humanity had never experienced before this very moment in time. Although my original with over 100,000 views was eventually removed, I'm still proud of this video, almost more than any other one, because it showed my potential, my ambition, and my desire to entertain and impress from the very beginning. Although it didn't ultimately get me the success I had hoped, it did set me on the right path. I'm very pleased this is back on UA-cam, where it belongs. I wish I could go back and tell myself to keep going no matter what...that it would be tough, but never give up.
100k views is bwry impressive for a performance of this style, no reason to feel robbed my guy. You've hit the jackpot with this one. But stephanie trick taking over this is kinda cringe ngl.

I had a song about him that went viral and they nuked 16 years of my work to stop it. It's truly outrageous. They've denied all my appeals to restore all my originals videos so I'm picking up the pieces and slowly reuploading them one by one.
