Can you have 1 crystal in horizontal vertigo and another crystal in bvvp vertigo at the same time??And can they be dominant in opposite ears?? When a calcium crystal detaches from the utricle, how do the diagnostic maneuvers reattach it to utricle..
Yes, you can have crystals in more than one canal, for example: some in the horizontal canal and some in the posterior canal. And this can be on the same side or the opposite side. When the crystals dislodge from the utricle and float into the semi-circular canals, this is what causes vertigo (BPPV). With the maneuvers, we aim to get the crystals out of the canals and back to the utricle, where they can reattach to the utricle (or dissolve). I hope that helps!

If a crystal doesn't reattach how long does it take to dissolve???
The crystals aren't guaranteed to dissolve, so we want them to reattach if possible.
