agreed some of them are ripped from other Valve's IP (CSGO, Left 4 Dead, etc) those HL2 Beta & Hidden/Unused HL2 guns could use some extensive reworked since they're too low quality when compared to their final HL2 guns, let alone CS GO & Left 4 Dead guns
Developers: if you change the weapon fire sound scripts to "CHAN AUTO" then the fire sounds won't abruptly stop when the reload sounds begin, and it will also let the gunshots overlap and mix together. Great job overall on this awesome addition to the HL universe. I've been looking forward to this mod!
This looks fucking awesome. I had no idea you could even put more weapons in hl2. If this mod comes out, I’m playing it immediately. My only thoughts are that A: there’s a lot of weapons so we’d need a different weapon swap system and B:How are we gonna get all these weapons in the first place?
I always thought this type of gun insanity mod would be amazing in a half life mod that turns the loadout mechanics into something similar to Halo where you either can't reload or have extremely limited ammo supply and have to keep picking up guns from dead enemies or the environment.

In the mod discord. Devs mentioned that you can change the amount of weapon slots you have in the mod so you can get an experience like that. Im gonna go with no higher than 5 or 4 slots for my run
Isn't the 9mm pistol supposed to be the USP? Even tho the USP uses different bullets right? Also I don't like the inconsistency of details between the weapons. And that you actually carry like two versions of the same weapon - smg, smg2; tau cannon, cannon from hl1; hl2 pistol and USP;... But it is a free mod so I shouldn't really complain.
The 9mm Pistol is the vanilla name for the pistol, plus it's probably a modified weapon, like the SMG and SPAS Also, Rebel tech consists of weapons probably from Black Mesa or made by former BM scientists, so they could've easily remade them and they also use old leftovers from pre-Combine Earth (ie, the Revolver)
@@lambda-m1676 I don't mind having a large arsenal, but if you'd have to switch between all of these weapons just to get to the ar2 or a rocket launcher, then please no. But the main problem with the arsenal I have is the inconsistency in the models. Some look pretty basic and some look really well done. And also if the vanilla pistol has similar stats to let's say the beretta, then why the heck I'd want two weapons with the same stats and the same ammunition? Like having the vanilla smg with lower quality model of smg2 which is the same weapon, which just looks inconsistent and without the grenade launcher. There could be like different variants for each weapon, but only if it is done right. - Like finding the smg without the grenade launcher at earlier point and then finding enemies with the smg with grenade launcher. You'd drop the smg2 and pick up the smg with the launcher instead.

Plus, this mod is in beta/development, we don't know what will be added later However, it's gonna be like the Beta again if the guns don't have any uses/or they have guns that already do the job better. The HUD should also be smaller when selecting weapons, to not obscure vision during a heated firefight.
9mm pistol is USP Match, and yes, it is chambered in 9mm on real life basis. USP is USP tactical, chambered in "*Solid Snake's voice* .45, huh? Incredible"
Since there are so many different pistols, i wonder if it lets you pick which ones you want to encounter in a playthrough, would be kinda rough having to cycle between so many or have them all on a specific hotkey

I love how they brought in weapons from the old games like half-life 1 and opposing force like the desert eagle, MP5, the gluon gun, tau cannon, and the displacement cannon. I also really love how they brought in weapons from the half-life 2 beta like the O.I.C.W, SMG2 and so on, and SNARKS! Like this mod is such a nostalgia trip with all the stuff from the old games and beta being put in.
everybody in the comments seems to like it, but I don't appreciate the amount of weapons in this mod. and here is why. in a way or another, all weapons in hl2 have some kind of function that the other weapon doesn't have. for all intents and purposes, they are like tools. they have different features and therefore each weapon stands out. shotgun is good for close quarters combat and enemies that approach you fast, magnum is good when you want to take down enemies as quickly as possible, crossbow is good on long distances, etc, you name it. but this? this is weird. sure, new smgs or rifles look cool. but what makes them stand out? why do I _need_ them? why do you give me a crowbar and a wrench when their functions are the same? when I play it just feels like I complicate my inventory for no reason. I ain't against the idea, but it's execution kinda sucks for now.
i really hope some of these weapons get smoother animations and sounds, its so off putting to go from fully animated guns to the fucking anti-material rifle having bare bones animations
Looks pretty good, but they just have to change like all assault rifle sounds because they don't sound aggressive enough, in my opinion. One way of making a weapon feel more op than it actually is, is to add aggressive, punchy sounds, brutal half life is a nice example for this. They also need to add more recoil. These will probably happen, after all this is still work in progress

Im gathering that the fact some guns have a more "Weathered" and dirty look to them is to depict how when Gordon finds them, they hadn't been used in a long time
Models and animations are a little all over the place but it is nice they are throwing a little bit of everything. From old weapons to new ones or unusable ones now usable or weapons from the old HL1 expansions.
You know it makes it all the more terrifyingly concerning when someone who isn't a soldier not only is impossibly holding all these weapons, but isn't trained or well informed on even half the arsenal they are carrying. As far as Gordon's MIT education takes him, the simple concept of point and pull the trigger is good enough to get the job done, anything extra like tampering with said weapons out of boredom just excites his infinite curiosity as a physicist - that's our Freeman.

I know it’s an iconic sound, but I really wish they used the HK usp or p30 series sounds with a slight modification over the whispy sounds used. Even the USP is off and only using standard sounds from CSGO.
some of the weapons showcased seem incomplete (missing slide/bolt animations, underwhelming or WIP sounds, missing inspect animations, beta weapons having low res textures, i think the XM1014 animations are borrowed from L4D???, magnified scopes being just an image projected onto them)... i assume thats because this mod is still in beta and i really hope the team behind the mod work on fine-tuning these weapons some more!
This mod is pretty good. the animations are pretty polished, and the amount of weapons is insane. However there is a difference between “weapon variety” and “having alot of weapons also the smg model not having a vertical foregrip looks pretty bad, but the smg2 and OICW make up for it

Yeah, it's incredibly amateurish. Looks like GMod. I was excited for this mod to be a solid HL2 overhaul and now I'm just disappointed.
Smod is way better and mmod is more balanced aside from the stupid alt fire from the combine.
The stock handgun sounds like you can hear the gun echo in the distance until the last bullet. Everything else sounds flat

I noticed that most of the weapons were ripped straight from csgo like the usp45 they didnt change anything to it they just changed the muzzle flash.
i thought the "Gauss gun" and "Tau Cannon" were the same thing

The Tool Gun sound came from the Airboat gun (the pulse cannon)

This mod is pretty good. the animations are pretty polished, and the amount of weapons is insane. However there is a difference between “weapon variety” and “having alot of weapons
also the smg model not having a vertical foregrip looks pretty bad, but the smg2 and OICW make up for it

I think this mod has great potential, though the additional "weapons", particularly the Flare Gun and the Fire Extinguisher, confuses me as to what use they serve if at all.
