GREATEST LIFE MOMENTS:
-The day I married my wife
-The birth of my daughter
-Watching my beloved Red Wings win multiple Stanley Cups.
-Having Neil read not one, but TWO of my comments on Fan Friday!
You should be a comedian
nobody asked
Trevor Chrysler I didn’t ask for your opinion
Spencer Hamm 👊🏻
Now they trash sorry
You kept saying Philadelphia and Flyers when talking about the Pens and Capitals and Sid and Ovi. Kind of threw me off.
It’s not a matter of “how many games”, it should be investigated as a criminal offense- depending on the jurisdiction in which it occurred.
Probably 100 games if in the 40s if Maurice Richard can hit a referee during a fight and get the rest of the season, today nearly killing someone would be a long long suspension. If not for life. I could not see 100 games because that just don’t seem possible but the player safety board dose weird things.
Just to add onto this video isles and penguins have rlly heated up since the brawl and the 2013 playoff series and really heated up since 2018
I've come to respect this channel a lot in the short time I've watched this because when you're with your dad or Justin producing 'ranking' videos, you guys just have massive respect for all teams, no matter if you absolutely hate them or just don't care for them. An example is when your dad said he'd love to see the Leafs win even though the Havs hav some bad blood with them. Really enjoy the amount of respect you guys show.
Thank you!
Kassian vs Marchand, Lucic, and Matt Tkachuk in a 3 on 1 steel cage handicap match but Kassian can only use one hand
Canucks vs Blackhawks is my favourite rivalry
So glad I made one of these
I’ve collected every team’s jersey, just so I could wear the gear of the Flames’ opponent on every game day.
The hatred between Edmonton & Calgary is always prevalent.
That a attempt of injury he looked right at him he knew what he was doing he needs to be done for a least the rest of the season maybe even longer
I would say that the top 5 rivalries in the NHL of the past decade are as follows (All my opinion):
1. Boston vs Toronto
2. Pittsburgh vs Washington
3. San Jose vs L.A.
4. Vancouver vs Chicago
5. Pittsburgh vs Columbus
I'm no lawyer or know anything about the how the system works but wouldn't that be an attempted man slaughter offence or something if he hypothetically kicked someone in the neck in the same fashion that he did during the EDM vs Tampa game on Feb 13th? He would be criminally charged and/or banned from the NHL I would think.
I think Kassian should've gotten 20. Repeat offender. We've seen some crazy cuts on players such as Schenn and Zednik. I get it's a "could've" moment. But if in theory he did actually slip his neck I would give him a ban
The rest of this season and all of next season.
As an Oilers Fan from Germany who can barely watch any games because of the time difference i gotta say that i really like Kassian, for being an enforcer on our team and bringing some toughness. As far as the suspension goes i think i would have given him 10 for the kick to the chest. I cant really compare what a kick to the throat to another suspension because i only started following the Oilers since they drafted my boy Leon. So i gotta go on my own here, but if he would have cut the throat i woulndt be suprised if he got a lifetime ban .
Neil you should’ve felt my heart in the 2OT in the conference final Pens vs Sens game 7. I’m a pens fan and yes I hate playing the capitals in the playoffs because I know it’ll be a tight series
If it was clearly an intentional kick the the throat I’d say a lifetime ban; anyone who who lacks that kind of self control is a danger to other players and shouldn’t be in the NHL. If it did not look like it was intentional I think it would be around a 40 game suspension
was the largest suspension in history like bertuzzi or simon or mcsorley? hes looking at life for sure
With regards to Kassian: ban him the rest of this season, then next season he gets pegged down to the AHL or ECHL with no chance of being called up. Or a worse punishment, make him play for the Lightning - The Milton Keynes Lightning. Thanks for reading my message, good attempt at my surname. See you on the new channel.
Had Kassian's skate cut Cernak's throat, assuming it was not the intended target (maybe a blind or no look kick) and assuming we leave the CBA legalities/technicalities out, I think a 21 game suspension (~1/4 season) AND a forfeiture of his pay for those games. [The McSorley assault you referenced, he was initially given 23 games, which was extended to a full year after he was found guilty of assault in a court of law, however he never played in the NHL again.] The McSorley assault on Donald Brashear was probably the most violent act I've seen on an ice rink, in an NHL game. So because Kassain's kick seemed to be a more spur of the moment incident, not premeditated, I think a slightly less games suspended is "reasonable," however, the reason I include the loss of game checks as well, is to underscore the immense severity of what that act (kick to the throat) could have been.
In this situation, Kassian would have to get at least 60 games. With the Raffi Torres hit that got 41, this is far more severe. Although knowing the inconsistency of the Department of Player Safety he could get as little as 20 or 25 or get as much as 2 seasons.
I’m shocked no mention of Leafs-Islanders
I think it would be an entire season, depending on the seriousness of the injury
I have to say it's all situational for me. Kassian and Archibald were being interfered with and whilst he tried to free himself and Archibald from that, he certainly took the wrong method of doing so. It was a brain fart moment for sure, and had he caught his neck he'd have had to sit the rest of the season for me as for me this was a spur of the moment choice of what to do.
However, for me anyone proven to have gone out to kick another player deliberately should be suspended from which ever league for the remainder of his career, and should see his contract with his club terminated straight away. This is regardless of the player being a repeat offender or not.
Who knows with the NHLPA the suspension could be like 4 game or something stupid like that. If kassian cut a trough the NHLPA would probably give 10 games. If I was the NHLPA I would suspend him for the year. But honestly the NHLPA should give out more reasonable suspensions because cross checking someone’s face into the crossbar isn’t one game more than spitting someone in the face.
I think the NHL would give it an indefinite suspension until the rest of the season. In the summer I would guess an announcement of an additional 40 games. In total around 70 regular season games.
Caps are now called flyers
Canucks and Bruins can get pretty entertaining especially in Vancouver
From my point of view Kassians kick is with an intent to injure. If he had hit the throat I say it is a life long band from all hockey activities and maybe a civil court case for assault with a deadly weapon just because of the pure intent to injure like that we saw in Todd Bertuzzi's case with Steve Moore.
Kassian should be given the most extreme punishment the league can give. He has to be a fan of the 2019/2020 Detroit Red Wings. That will REALLY give him something to kick about!
Assuming the league felt it was intentional (not just the kick, but targeting the neck or another unprotected area of the body), I would think you look at Marty McSorley as precedent, so at least 23 games, and possible criminal charges (McSorley was charged with assault with a weapon, though with Kassian's act being in the US, not Canada, the law might shield him).
Given his age, it could even go further, with being something like Bertuzzi, where it's indefinite and be measured in years, rather than games (though, the lockout makes that tough to measure, since Bertuzzi only missed 20 games in his 17 months of suspension).
Given the league's crackdown on hits that can cause long-term injury while serving no function as a hockey play, I'd say the absolute minimum in your scenario is 21 games (the length of Tom Wilson's original suspension for the Sundqvist hit plus 1). But, it could easily be a life ban, given the scenario you described (not the actual kick).
I would say life time ban if he kicked a player to the throat especially since the biggest suspension was for a hit which was 41 games make it known not to go after the players especially where they are not padded
I think the suspension for that kick on chest should be this and next season. Because Kassian couldn`t know if Cernak have lighten his armory. He could have kicked straight to the guts. If player would cut another`s throat not only that would be a life time suspension but also handled at court.
Calgary Edmonton ofc
He would be fined “the maximum amount allowable by the CBA”. In all seriousness, I would think it should at least be multiple seasons if not a lifetime ban. When you put a player’s life in danger like that, you have to ban him at least a year, but this situation would be a precedent if it were to have happened, and it’s hard to predict it. I guess my final thoughts are if the player had died, lifetime ban easy, but with the situation of the player surviving, I would say rest of this year, all of next year personally. However, I don’t think the NHL would suspend him more than the rest of this season (similar to that football player who hit another guy with their own helmet). The player safety branch always seems to have various responses to the same offense, so it’s always hard to predict them, but I still would stick to my rest of the year prediction.
He got 7 which I think is not enough as it is. If he caught a player in the neck then probably a lifetime ban. That is such a serious offence and threat to the health of another player that he should lose the privilege to play in the NHL.
If cassium cut a players neck he might get criminal charges because that's life threatening
He would get a minimum year suspension without a doubt, and he would have to be reinstated back by The commissioner. So basically an indefinite suspension at the discretion (of term) by the league. Using your hypothetical question, if he did cut the guys neck, it should be tried as assault legally. If the act was done with Intent to harm.
So, by now we know Kassian got 7 games for kicking Cernak in the chest. I personally think it should have been more than 10, but at least a suspension was given by DOPS (insert EIHL DOPS joke here).
Now, had Kassian kicked a player in the neck, given how serious an injury that is and the potential repercussions that could have on the player being kicked, I'd be surprised if Kassian (or any player committing the offence) wasn't suspended for at least a year. Todd Bertuzzi was essentially banned for a year for sucker punching Steve Moore, and although it isn't comparable, kicking a player in the neck with your skate blade is just as bad, if not worse than what Bertuzzi did.
I think that he should get at least a year. Even if he didn’t kick him hard he still had intent to harm.
Probably a ban from playing, at least in the nhl. The reason being is the fact that an injury like that could very well kill him
I would say Kassian would get a lifetime ban because of his previous aggression with players so the safety board could see that as aggression and not want that in the NHL.
Do you remember the Todd Bertuzzy sucker punch that ended a players career I think that if kassian kicked someone in the face it would be a similar career ending situation so I think that since the player safety NHL people have gotten a lot strict in terms of what is suspension worthy I think that we could see a suspension of around a YEAR!!!!!!
A kick to the throat would be lifetime ban or at minimum the rest of the season and next season, could be charged with attempted murder. In the infamous Malarchuk accident Clint would have died if it wasn't for the trainer who reached inside his neck and pinched off the artery he would have died. Clint had to go therapy from depression and he even attempted suicide but lucky again lived. An intentional kick with a skate should be a with the utmost seriousness.
Just saw Kassian only got 7 games. That's ridiculous.
He probably been indefinitely suspended. Cause that would've been very catastrophic and dangerous.
I think Kassian would be suspended from 60-100 games. Kicking someone with your skate is pretty much trying to kill someone.
I know everybody is saying lifetime suspension, but I'm going to say 30 games. Sure, it's a terrible thing to kick somebody in the throat, but, if he was fine and it was accidental like you said, he shouldn't have a lifetime suspension. It's like being at the wrong place at the wrong time, and boom, you get kicked out of the league. No. 30 games.
I think it would depend on the circumstances of the kick. IF you can tell he did it on purpose even if he didn't mean to hit the player in the neck then I could see the NHL giving him probably 40 games and some type of fine. I would want to see him suspended for a season but I don't think it would happen with how player safety is.
I think it would be a year or two because he might cause whoever he kicked to stop being able to play
Could you do another create a team contest
We have been running a contest for the past 2 months that closed on the 17th. Sorry you missed it!
I’d say 2-6 seasons
YOU CUT someone in THE THORAT WHERE IT IS LIFE threatening? KICKED OUT OF THE LEAGUE IN MY OPINION!
If Kassian ended up kicking Carnak in the throat and it was sliced I would lay the 🔨 down and suspend him over 1 and 1/2 seasons and or even ban him from the NHL because that type of stuff could kill someone. But I know he kicked Cernak in the chest but that's is still unexpalbe and he got a 7 game suspension and I still feel that is pretty weak should be 12 to 15 games.
Colorado &Detroit,(Chicago St. LOUIS)(
Who are the lightning? All I know is the Rangers South
matt poli right on
Definite lifetime ban for throat cut. If he was pissed he should have got up and dropped his gloves not use his skate blade as a weapon.
He would get 26 games of suspension. in year 2005 Chris Simon got 25 games for slash in the face. This is +1 due to using a skate. Hmm..
I like how you not realized that you said flyers instead of capitals
It happens. Everyone makes mistakes.
Post2Post I actually never thought you would respond
Vancouver and oilers definetly oilers and flames go flames go tho ofc. And LA and Anaheim not Anaheim and Oilers
Where is islanders-rangers?
This is a long shot but like either banned or like the rest of this season and the following one and I say this because it’s just something you don’t do in hockey and not like a true hockey so it could be that long or forever
69 games, because that is very serious.
I thought the kick as it stands now should’ve been the rest of the season + playoffs so that’s the minimum. I’m pretty sure most people would lose it if that’s all he got for nearly killing someone so probably rest of this season plus 1 or 2 years. I’d be on board for a lifetime ban we don’t need this in the game.
I would say lifetime ban since he is a repeat offender and as a professional athlete he needs to have the self control not to do that sort of thing. Also, I would hope that the player who got cut in the throat would press charges against Zack.
I like the Bruins Maple Leafs because the Bruins usually win
Kassian's kick was intentional. If a player got sliced in the neck due to a freak accident or collision where Kassian is falling and not in control of his leg because he's trying to brace his fall or whatever, it's a tragedy, not a suspension in any way.
That's not the case here. Kassian's kick was intentional. If he had sliced a player in the throat by intentionally kicking them, he would never play in the NHL again. Period. Maybe if he's lucky, he's not facing criminal charges, and the KHL would have him and he can go finish his career in Ak Bars Kazan. If he's not that lucky, he could be under criminal prosecution for assault or, in the worst case, second degree murder. A player could legitimately die from that injury.
Didnt Kassian have an intent to harm suspension in the minors? If he actually sliced a throat, he'd be done. Lets say a year suspension at the least. But after that, why would any team keep him?
L.A. Kings vs. Chicago Blackhawks rivalry.
Its capitals he said not flyers
I think a big rivalry is habs and the rangers I absolutely hate the rangers as a habs fan the knee injury Kreisler gave price they had a series in 2014 and 2017
He would not play pro hockey anymore and the fine would be pricey
Why would you stop on a channel with 42K subs omg
Because I cannot monetize on this channel. If I want to do this full time some day, I need to feed myself.
I think Kassian would get suspended for 5 and a half sessions, because he cant, control his skate. If he got suspended for 5 sessions he can practice controlling his skates
Kassian would get permanently banned from the NHL if he kicked someone in the throat
A kick to the neck and potentially killing another person I could very easily see kassian get booted from the league for the remainder of his life and even face criminal charges to be honest.
Islanders v rangers and rangers v devils
if kassian kicked the guy in the throat i would say 3-5 years. the fact is don't kick somebody in general
69 games😎
Almost at 50k subs and your not gonna use the channel anymore?
Correct, because I cannot monetize on this channel. If I want to do this full time some day I need to go to a channel where I can, I need to feed myself.
Ovi doesn't play for the Flyers...
Not yet. They will probably trade him at the deadline for Shayne Gostisbehere and a couple of 6th round picks.
I know, I just misspoke, it happens.
He should be suspended for this and next season and fined half a million, because he is a repeat offender, it’s not the first time he did something stupid and if it was 15 inches higher and a throat injury they should tell him to take a year of to calm down
I think he should be suspended for 45 games Kassian and should be fined 900,00
He would probably be suspended indefinitely for the remainder of the season and I would guess be released by the Oilers to show the league they don't stand with his actions. But, I would argue that he should get banned from the sport altogether right away because of how serious of an offense this is. He knowingly kicked someone and caught them in the throat which caused a life-threating injury that could have easily been avoided if he could control his anger. This is something where Bettman would need to show that this is not what the sport is about, that even though hockey is rough, it is not meant to give long term injuries and that if you severely injure or attempt to severely injure then you have lost your privilege to ever play in the league again.
He would get two games because the dps doesn't have its crap and don't know how to suspend people properly 🤪😠😤
7 games
I think Kassian should b suspended for around 70-80 games for that. Like Neil said, this could have been serious and I is a very unethical move by a Hockey player. This was an absolutely stupid move and he should be suspended for a very long time.
Shoot I misspelled “be”!
I think he will get the rest of the season and 20 more next year because he is a repeat offender and would have almost killed someone
I think if he kicked someone in the throat, he would probably be banned from the league because he just put someone’s life at risk.
Why couldn't you change this channels name?
This channel's name does not need to be renamed. I cannot monetize on this channel so I am moving on to another one.
2 because the department of player safety is stupid
First
He should be suspended for 74 games cuz trying to injury or kill someone is ludicrous and u shouldnt be doing it
He should be suspended for 42 games because that is really serious and he is a repeat offender.
Yret
