Roger’s initial count here was at a tempo of about minim=128 or crotchet=256, and the record was at a tempo of about minim=120 or crotchet=240, which makes the live version 106.7% as fast as the recorded one. So I’d say yeah, it’s significantly faster.
Though it sounds like the guitar and drums are out of sync, they actually aren't and it's just the poor audio quality doesn't pick up Roger's cymbals and bass drum that well. Freddie always still manages to come in right when Roger, John, and Brian stop which shows that they are in time with each other. I just wish there was better recording quality at this show.
@@kilgore1863Maybe compared to other shows at this time, sure, but this recording lacks so much bass and is very much. This says nothing to the talent of Queen, they had nothing to do with it so I don't see the need to defend it that much.
@@TheBlackQueen not defending Queen’s talent or anything (isn’t really needed), I’m not that type. I guess the audio in this is a ruined version of the soundboard recording of some type, I’m not sure. Check out gregsynthbootlegs upload of the show, its a lil bit better, although its still pretty dry and lacks alot of bass, as you said. Edit: And since its a soundboard, there isn’t really any good mixing to make it sound good anyway. The time period doesn’t really matter. Really hope Queen Productions releases it someday. I’m sure with some good mixing of the multitracks the sound quality would sound just as good as performances released today.
If you want another fast version of this song, try the one from Copenhagen - April 13th, 1978. Just as fast if not a little faster. It's also just a really good concert if you want another one similar to Houston.
This has to be or one of the first trash metal songs. This was written in the late 60s and recorded in the early 70s. During this time we had the Beatles, beach boys, pink Floyd, and then yes we had Zeppelin and black Sabbath who are considered the first metal bands but they were never as fast as this before this song came out.

Your standards are too high
@@m1co294 What do my standards have anything to do with what I said?
Thats probably just the reverb of the instruments making it sound like its out of sync. And this is far from "poor audio quality."
