@@TatsSkill okay talk about Israel "boobies" adesanya.
@@TatsSkillYour boy lost, get over it
@@TatsSkill always has to be an excuse when a famous fighter loses. Just take the L. Btw adasanya is taller, so of course the shorter guy would look bigger, when they're both in the same weight class. That's common sense.
I think the most important part of this fight was after round 2. Eric Nicksick told strickland not to get snake charmed by adesanya because adesanya was starting to get comfortable in round 2, and it was a great reminder that he needed to keep the pressure on him.
This performance was the first time I've had this type of feeling since Garbrandt vs Cruz. But even in that Garbrandt Vs Cruz fight I gave Cody more of a chance because he had been knocking everyone out and on a tear leading up to Cruz. This was an impressive performance by Strickland.
That’s what happens when they are in a flow state.
@@fidelioal I have to disagree with that, my friend. We see fighters reach a flow state all the time. A flow state doesn't equate to a phenomenal performance. This fight showed how important the jab and leg kick are crucial for Izzy's game. Sean was able to shut down most of it.
That he has to rely on his footwork as his defense.
Thanks for ur wisdom
Going to have to change up if he’s going to make a comeback. The blueprint is out there now. Others will also capitalise on it
It shows as long as your not afraid to fight Izzy, you will find more success than people who trust Izzy's kickboxing skills more than their own. Fighting on his backfoot is his weakness, all it takes is someone whos not afraid to bang
@@ninog9737 Izzy excels at fighting on the back foot, he likes to consistently be on the outside to set up his attacks and counters. He got destroyed bc Strickland walked him down and couldn’t fight in the pocket
Those numbers they flashed at the 4th round are absolute bullshit though. Israel did not land 40 significant leg strikes unless they count checked kicks as significant. Sean's defense was absolutely on point and Izzy was hitting air the whole fight. He got like 10 semi clean shots on Sean
For those who are wondering what Strickland did to achieved this win, let me explain (it’s simple but amazing, so read and watch again)
To preface: In this fight Strickland is using classic/conventional boxing fundamentals to beat a masterful freestyle/open fight style (within a MMA framework).
1. Respect your centre: Do you notice Stricklands head is always centred in relation to his feet and shoulders (imagine a line drawn from head to toe), never to far forward (exposing his chin), never to far back (losing his measured distance, slow response). Static head movement (no side to side) wouldn’t work in boxing, but I guess it can in MMA, as we have learnt, haha
2. “In fighting” stance: in (conventional) boxing you typically throw punches/defend from three different distances(close/mid/long), depending on how far you are from an opponent. In this fight, Strickland adopts a close (aka “in-fighting”) stance regardless of Izzy’s distance. In this stance you are the most protected (able to use things like a “Philly shell”), the most reactive (to throw effective conventional basics like a L+R down the line) and able to apply the most pressure (having an opponent that is always in your face sucks btw!). This stance is immensely tiring and extremely hard to stay in (aka “sit in”). Did you notice the commentators mentioned he’s been doing lots of rounds in prep for this fight… believe me, it shows!
3. Foot Movement: when fighting using a close “infighting stance”, your foot movement should be slow and purposeful (almost stiff… Ready!). You are on high alert to either throw or respond (in this case block, catch counter). Look how slow Strickland is walking, but always moving forward, always closing the gap and applying pressure. We call this “Stalking” (when done right it should be relaxed and purposeful, but the pressure gauge should always be red). Notice how Strickland isn’t sitting down between rounds and constantly moving, it’s both an external and internal pressure strategy to maintain the tempo (part of a larger game plan and not just for show)
4. Sticking to the game plan: this is the hardest thing to achieve, particularly when fighting a freestyle/open fighter like Izzy (the crux of his plan is to throw you off yours and leave you to the wind, quickly find an opening and end the fight). I should also mention that Stricklands (strict) game plan is so specific and unnatural that I get tired just watching this fight (from his perspective). To understand the opposite approach, just watch Izzy , constantly “stepping off”, catching a breathe and coming back with a new idea/shift in his game plan… but nothing seems to work (wearing him down over the long term).
5. Know your enemy, fight to their weakness: A conventional fighter will always beat a freestyle fighter if they stick to the game plan (easy to say, ridiculously hard to achieve). It means removing all emotion, being less free in your movement, having the least room for error and (purposefully) being in a constant state of pressure…. All while knowing your opponent is in the opposite position. It takes a level of mental agility and confidence that most will never know. In this fight, Strickland managed to achieve this (just like Barrera did against Naseem). It’s amazing to watch, particularly knowing how rarely it is repeated!
I hope these notes help some folks out there to better understand what is happening in this fight and to truly appreciate a “unicorn” moment, like what occured on this night.
Well put! Casuals wanna see WWE barroom fighting, plain and simple, but this Strickland fella did EXACTLY what you said and pursued to the win. Excellent fight.
Excellent analysis...Adesanya shouldn’t fight him again. It will be worse for him
You did an excellent job explaining the fight, obviously you know your shit, thanks
@kleenbeats That’s absolutely not an in-fighting distance. It’s clearly long range as majority of the strikes are push kicks, leg kicks and attempted high kicks from Izzy.
Strickland stayed right on the threshold of being within range to strike and being able to back away from a low kick, which he did many times.
Your entire comment is just kinda weird and seems like a desperate attempt to give advice in an area you aren’t too versed in.
@@XeenimChoorch-nx8wx He’s fighting mid range/throwing from mid range….in an “Infighting stance” (feet are closer and more grounded than they should be at mid range). Dont watch his hands, watch his feet!

Really? I mean it had its moments but rounds 2&3 had like 15 punches landed…
I gave the first round to strickland 10-8 because of a clean knockdown following a straight right to the teeth. Adesanya looked like a scrub for much of this fight IMO. Somebody needs to teach him to keep both his hands up so he doesnt' eat strickland's jab-cross every time or every second time he throws it out there.
@@WadeSmith-oe5xd no way in hell that round gets a 10-8. For a round to be 10-8 it has to be INCREDIBLY one sided. They are very rare in the ufc.

Is amazing how he kept that laser beam concentration for so long. He seemed to be so focus as to not let himself be distracted by the occasional blow.
That's a good fight w/ great sportsmanship! We need to see more fighters like these!
Holy shit, Strickland went ultra instinct with the defense.
Sean probably sparred 10x more rounds than Izzy in the 60 days leading up to this. He was so comfortable in there that it was scary. Amazing performance.
ive came back and watch this fight so many times. awesome to watch stricklands defense with the hands and izzy always fights showy
Same here.
Strickland’s a Beast 💪
8:25 most satisfying knockdown in history
I just love how the crowd erupted
Also this female commentator is one of the best insights in UFC
I completely agree. Typically annoying, but this one I couldn't wait to hear what else she was going to say. Great work by her!
I like how she goes "Sean Strickland.. fighting like a MAN ughh my godd 💦 ❤"

Laura Sanko bruh, she’s easily one of the best commentators
This was her commentary debut too right? Definitely a great debut for her
The thumbnail with Strickland wearing the belt is a bit of a giveaway.
No man that beats off to cartoons is gonna beat me! - Sean Strickland
He hit him so hard that homeboy forgot where his corner was 😂

@geemills1964 do you have dog orgys with adesanya?
@geemills1964 no, how about house slave? Yeah that one is better for izzy
@@geemills1964 Hello homeboy.
21:22 Eric Nicksick comes off as intensely authentic. He’s says what he thinks and says it because he cares. It’s been awesome to see his success with Strickland and Ngannou over 2023.
Love how a perfect gameplan and cardio can take away any kind of ”Stylebending” what so ever👍🏻
Didn’t see this outcome before the fight I can admitt😊
Strickland’s reflexes are unbelievably fast.
Izzy should go for track and field next. Seems to be really good at running.
Carlos, he was backpedaling. for those going through the comments, I've got good news. God is good because He gives His blessings to everyone, whether they be good or bad. but everyone has at least, told a lie, or stolen something in their life. and that makes them sinners, and God will not allow sinners in heaven; in His presence, because He is holy. so, God has to punish the sinners in hell, because God is severe and just. but God is also love and He made a way for some to be saved from His wrath. here are the steps:
1. admit that you're a sinner and are lost.
2. realize that the penalty of sin is death (hell).
3. believe that Jesus (who is God) died on the cross, was buried, then rose from the grave, to pay the penalty for man's past, present, and future sins.
4. trust Christ alone as your Savior, and not on your own good deeds to get you to heaven (nor a combination of your faith and self-righteous works).
5. pray to God NOW that you're accepting Christ's free gift of salvation because if you die before making this decision, it's too late, and you'll 🔥🥵😈
6. and to be a disciple, tell people about Jesus, read the bible, go to church regularly to know God's will for your life.
The people pay !
He would make you the first Sprinting marathon runner...Big gob😅
Yeah Izzy ran through the middleweight division for 4 years before this bucko
Crazy how easily Sean made this win look against a Champion fighter.Good seeing the respect from both at the end
Izzy was faking it! He was so full of hate towards Sean
So great to watch that anime cringe lord fake Chinese dude get whooped like a big brother bullying his little bro lol public humiliation and then a public whippin
Sean vs Conor has to happen

Best end of the fight commentary,
It's perfect in this context
Underrated how Sean threw that 1-2 and moved his head at the same time Sean’s basics are (chefs kiss)
Not enough is said about seans cardio too. I mean homie didnt stop pacing from the time he walked in the building to the time he left

So tired of his one-sided salivating. Cry baby/
8:24 how Israel Adesanya kept fighting after that was beyond me
Yo mama
He spars so damn much it’s like second nature to him
His reflexes were on another level fr… I just wish he was more dynamic. He had head kicks and body shots that he just didn’t read or throw, wasn’t even in his mind. His base fighting style sets up so many opportunities, but his base style also keeps him untouched.
@@waltercoker1155 he just sticks to that one two and it works perfectly
@@dangolfishin I mean that was one fight, anything could happen so you kind of want to take the opportunities that blatantly present themselves
@BlackJeepConvertible that's how James Toney was so good at counterpunching and remaining composed. He did no training besides sparring. The downside is that his head took a lot of shots over the years, even with his great defense.
Whenever I am having a really GREAT day, I watch this fight to make it even better.
Some of the best defense I’ve seen, perfect distance management
9:32 can we just appreciate the slow motion replay with the Philly-Shell back to the basics fighter dropping the “style-bender” with that sweet ass backdrop 🔥
Strickland stance (standing straight & lifting front leg to avoid lowkicks) has a huge weakpoint that Adesanya never does: shooting for takedowns.
Hence why he was perfect for beating Izzy in a straight kickboxing match he had the better approach. Pressure forward hood boxing and defending the leg kicks. This was basically like a Dutch kickboxer vs a Thai. We see Thais lose to the a lot because when they’re kicks get shut down it goes downhill for them
yeah against ddp he will have to change the stance for sure, striking-wise I would say he's surely better technically, but grappling definitely goes to DDP from what we've seen him do to Whittaker
@@mursili9371I mean it looks weird but if memory serves me correct Sean is in top 10 when it comes to takedown defense
Strickland is also a good grappler, I’m pretty sure some of his first UFC fights were won by sub
Strickland could literally RAPE Izzy on the ground if he wanted to.
The way he manages to not be there and also constantly be leading is so impressive.
Hell of a fight! When’s the rematch!?
"COME ON IZZY, SHAKE HIS BOOTS", and then sean strickland knocks him down 8:22
😂
Lmao
@@RyderPoleyProductionthe weeb in the crowd was like: 😢
I thought the guy yelled “COME ON IZZY SHOW THESE CUNTS YOU-“ and then everyone yelled over him because Sean is awesome
This was the most satisfying fight I’ve ever watched. HUMILIATION…some fighters are warriors and will go out on their shield even when outmatched. Adesanya was outmatched and showed absolutely ZERO heart.
Not true. Izzy had some moments but Shawn just had a better match. Just hating on Izzy
Izzy had a tonne of heart. I hate Izzy 2nd only to Ian Garry, but he didn't give up or slowdown.
This is the Izzy we know. He just had no answers for Strickland's defence
@@DuelyusSeazer he did not step forward to sean once man

Not in my life time even dream to see someone combining wing chun, philly shell, karate, muay thai to perfection and actually demolished one of the best strikers in history in a title fights..
Sean's defensive striking is as close to watching an old kung fu movie irl lol.

GOAT MMA comment.
Izzy isn’t really the greatest striker in ufc history half his title fights were sus decisions or straight up boring as hell w a few calf kicks and jabs for points to net close rounds.
The passion they both have . you can see it after the fight with Izzy paying his respect. Strickland huged him and bow’ed to Izzy. All Izzy does is raise him back up by is hand and point at the NEW champ. Respectful and humble. I love this sport
Spirit of the sports sooooo beautiful
I was surprised because i didn't like him because i thought he had bad sportsmanship. I guess he matured a bit.
I am new to MMA. What a great fight. Thank you.
Great fight , great sportsmanship at the end . Strickland is a beast with that walk down .
A masterclass from Sean
The stats were so off when they showed them, they tried so hard to convince people that Adesanya will win.

Jab, straight, and teep is apparently the only offense one neede to be the best
