Hey guys! I hope you’re having a good weekend ☺️ This was last ish episode for the Hokkaido series! I hope you enjoyed this video and this series as a whole! 🙌
Thank you for an excellent video! I would probably have missed out on Tachimachi-saki if you hadn't recommended it, and it ended up being one of my favorite places in Hakodate; the sunset was even more beautiful from there than it was from Mount Hakodate (although both were certainly worth seeing).
Heading to Hokkaido on a around Japan cruise 19 days. Have one day in Kushiro, Hakodate and Otaru. Usually arrive at 8am and leave at 5pm. Love uni, ice cream and ramen. What do you recommend is best use of time as we cannot stay for dinner?
Wow! The scenic coastline at Cape Tachimachi is breath taking! The scallops look sooo delicious! I have never seen corn tempera. Interesting! I have saved this series for my trip to Hokkaido. Thank you again, Sarah, for sharing! 🙏😊Looking forward to the vlogs on the FOOD! 😋🤤😆
Beautiful I love seeing you with those adorable wings behind you there at the 0.28 second mark in this video. Now got to get back to watching the rest of it!!!😊😁😇🥰
Instant subscribe! I love the way you convey the food experience, it's contagious mouthwatering! Consider making specific videos about food! You are very charismatic, cheers!
Hi - thank you for this timely video. I’m planning a 14 days in Hokkaido self drive. How many nights do you recommend to spend at Hakodate. Kindly advice. Tq
Great video/tips - what is the ideal amount of time to spend in Hakodate? Planning to go in September, but passing through onto Sapporo - maybe Hakodate is worth spending more than a one day there?
I spent two whole days and everything I did is in this video! If you want to enjoy the evening activities (I.e. izakaya and night view) I recommend you stay for a night! The Goryokaku and Cape Tachimachi are a little further out, so if you skip these two you can squeeze a lot of the activities in one day and a bit. I hope that helps!
Hokkaido is famous for pumpkins, so much that my local supermarket sells some pumpkins specifically called Hokkaido pumpkins and I live out in the countryside.
I definitely need to add this to my list. Although, the good weather really improved your visit I'm sure. Lucky Pierrot looks so good! American style portions! yay! The night view is surprising. Reminds me of Nagasaki night view.
I want to have a wing too!😆 Ah that seafood donburi looks so good and fresh! Scallops are my favorite too, hehe. Sweet corn tempura, whoa.. I want to try this! Lucky Pierrot looks fun omg (even though I HATE clowns haha..), the swinging chairs are so unique! And the chicken looks so delicious!! Beautiful scenery and views🏞️ Especially that night view! Loved the series, and looking forward to the next trip as always!!
Thank you so much! I was just planning a trip to Hokkaido and UA-cam recommended your video ❤ I wonder whether there is any possibility to buy seafood at 朝市 and ask local restaurants to cook it? I remember it is a thing in Thailand, but don’t know much about Japanese morning markets :)
I checked and it seems like some stalls sell sea urchin etc. for street food but I’m not sure if you can get fresh fish and they cook that for you. There is, however a stall where you can catch squid and they cut that for you so you can have fresh squid sashimi!
I was waffling whether or not to take a daytrip to Hakodate (I'm staying in Aomori-ken for 5 days next month) but I'm definitely going to visit now after watching this video! おすすめ所は本当に面白そう、函館市を楽しみにします!
I'm heading to Hokkaido next week! Gonna make a trip down to Hakodate. May I know if it is recoomended to drive, or take the ropeway, or bus up to mount Hakodate like what you did? I will have a rental car but I can also leave it at the hotel which is about 15 min walk away.
I found this website that tells you the road will be closed from 5pm-10pm except for buses and taxis. The link is Japanese but you can use Google Translate. www.hakobura.jp/news/438 The car is therefore not an option. Ropeway would be a good experience so perhaps take the ropeway on your way there then take the bus back? Or the other way around? I didn’t take the ropeway but this way you get to experience both!
Thanks for the comment ☺️ Hakodate morning market, Kanemori warehouse, lucky Pierrot are all central within walking distance. The other places you can take the bus except for Mt. Komagatake! I think you would need a car to get to Mt. Komagatake
Thank you for your video, I’m pleased it’s not just me who can’t eat wasabi, I’ve tried many times but just can’t. I was concerned if I offended when I declined it.
Hi Sarah! Awesome and informative video! What is the seafood donburi store name that you tried in morning market in english? the one with yellow signboard
I took the bus from Hakodate station, but it stops at various places! You can find the full route on this website. It's the bus "★1 line Mt. Hakodate Climbing Bus" www.uu-hokkaido.com/corporate/hakodatebus.shtml
I went to all the same restaurants as you last week haha. Oh by the way it’s not called chicken burger it’s a chicken sandwich. Don’t know why they call it a burger in Japan. Burgers are beef meat patties. Even KFC in America call their chicken sandwiches (sandwiches) not burgers lol. Just food for thought for you.
Ah thank you! That’s interesting! By the way KFC rebranded their “sandwiches” to “burgers” in japan last month because customers were recognizing their products as “burgers” 🤣

It just taught me when I go to Hokkaido at the end of September what to look for
I’m so glad you mentioned Lucky Pierot! It’s my favorite fast food place here!
This is really helpful and entertaining, arriving today for Hokadate! Cute eating expressions btw 😅
I am enjoying your video I hope one day I could go there awesome video ✌🏽

Sugoi👍👏very nice restaurant & so many beautiful scenery in Hokkaido, Sarah-chan😁
Just wonderful. I must visit this historic city...because now I'm really hungry.
I'm visiting Hokkaido in May, covering quite a number of cities. Thanks so much for the informative video, especially its in English👍
Glad it was helpful!
Great channel and great tips! This looks soooo delicious and enticing. Can't wait visiting Hakodate and Sapporo from Mid September for 8 days!

Corn tempura is starting to become kind of popular in Tokyo as I’ve seen it in some restaurants recently 🤤
Thanks I’m here today and will try these tips. Very helpful 😊

Hi Sarah, do you know if Japanese go fir Ibsen in the summer time say July?
Such a beautiful city, spent 6 months study there at Hokkaido University and this video bring me back the good memories :)
Glad you enjoyed the video! I hope you’ve watched the Sapporo video because I cover Hokkaido University there 😙
@@TokyoFoodieSarah I was studied at HU at Hakodate Campus, but thank you very much!! You got my subsciption!

Wow so much nice food to try 👍i thought those warehouses in the port feel more like something from London than anything ive seen in Japan

Some of the Hakodate seaside views looked almost exactly like Scotland! (also was that a Too Much Volcano reference? 😂)
Yes it was indeed a Too Much Volcano reference 😂
thumbs up for Natsuki reference haa!
Thank you for your video, I’m pleased it’s not just me who can’t eat wasabi, I’ve tried many times but just can’t. I was concerned if I offended when I declined it.
I came from kitretsu cartoon the same name of place and they are eating ikkasomen
Sarah you’re so funny 😊😅
Hi Sarah! Awesome and informative video! What is the seafood donburi store name that you tried in morning market in english? the one with yellow signboard
Hi thanks for the comment! It was called Kikuyo Shokudo! I'll add a link into the description box ☺️
You’re so beautiful and it’s great to see a Japanese speak English, so well.
Great place in Hakodate is marutamagoya
Where did you stay in Hakodate??? I’m taking my family this august
Hi there, is summer a good season to visit Hokkaido?
Yes definitely!! Hokkaido is a lot cooler in the summer compared to other parts of Japan and the nature (all the greens) is great 👍
How do you get around in Hakodate?? Taxis? Bus??
Hi! Just want to ask where is the bus station going to hakodate mountain
I took the bus from Hakodate station, but it stops at various places! You can find the full route on this website. It's the bus "★1 line Mt. Hakodate Climbing Bus"
www.uu-hokkaido.com/corporate/hakodatebus.shtml
is bus better than ropeway? 😊
You nailed it. You think english speakers will be okay with touring the city?
Hokkaido gets a lot of tourists so I’ve heard they are very non-Japanese friendly!
Wish I could go there it's my moms home town
Her name is setsue sagawa
.
what is the difference between chirashi don, kaisen don, and seafood donburi?
Ahahahaha, the "so much volcano" reference at ua-cam.com/video/8yexhcI1P_U/v-deo.html! That got me laughing.
I want to travel with u once .. I can speak both Japanese and English
Hi May I know the actual date of this video...Thanks
Hey Sarah, probably a dumb question, but was all the seafood raw, even the squid?
Yes everything was raw!
I like this video. But I cannot watch in full because I get hungry. 😢
Do they accept debit or credit cards?
I checked online and it seems like they accept credit cards!
As soon as you said you were going to eat a seafood donburi I knew you would get scallops!
You were right 🤣🤣
the way you eat you make it look very delicious, but I think I cannot eat raw seafood, it's not for me. 😢
I went to all the same restaurants as you last week haha. Oh by the way it’s not called chicken burger it’s a chicken sandwich. Don’t know why they call it a burger in Japan. Your aversion to clowns made me laugh.
THAT CHICKEN…….!!!!
So the 10 things to do in Hakodate is just eat 10 times?
Basically yes 🤣
You are so beautiful. I’m my next life I hope I can be delicate & elegant like you!
