    6 inches per hour can also happen with lake effect snow! I have seen 24 inches or more from a band of lake effect snow and less than an inch only a couple miles away! It is crazy!

      Kaden Anderson They had too much moisture to eat! It formed snowflakes in their stomachs, they couldn't stand it, and there you have it-they puked snow all over the place!!!

    Born and raised in Black Sea part of Istanbul, when i was a kid i always imagined that all snowfall events in the world was caused by sea evaporation, named sea effect snowfall. Also thundersnow was a normal event for me. Kinda shocked when i learnt that fronts caused most snowfall in the world except places which sit near water bodies.
    This is such a common phenomenon in Istanbul, that we usually get not only sea effect snowfall, but also sea effect rains which lasts for days. I remember one time it rained straight for 10 days in a spray form, which only totaled to 10 mm. Black Sea region of Turkey is truly a moisture heaven.
    Thanks to these type of sea effect, some years we even get 30 inches of snow in just a single storm, 100 m above sea level. Also our latitude is lower than western Europe but we get much more snow thanks to Black Sea.

    "Puking snow" is an understatement. LOVE that analogy.

      I would have used the phrase "projectile vomiting snow". I live in an area where lake-effect snow is common as well. About 10 years ago, a study was done by a meteorology class at the University of Utah that discovered a potential 61% _increase_ in lake-effect snowfall were it not for a mountain range at the Idaho/Nevada/Utah confluence helping to block the flow of ice-cold air from the Snake River Valley in Idaho into Utah. As it is, the Wasatch and Oquirrh mountain ranges that form the Salt Lake Valley act as a funnel drawing cold air over the Great Salt Lake and creating a lake-effect pattern over the metropolitan areas of Salt Lake City and Provo. Their prediction came from modeling a lake-effect snowstorm that struck my area during the night of October 26-27, 2010, and found that if the terrain were like the gentler terrain surrounding the Great Lakes, there would have been as much as a 90-94% _reduction_ in the amount of snow that would have fallen, in some cases falling almost exclusively as rain.

    Whoever thought this video was a genius. Very useful! The only way it could have been improved it adding 10-20 seconds and splicing in footage of Buffalo during that weather event.

      Yes it does moisture both condenses and/or evaporates

    • @Kelli1632
      @Kelli1632 3 роки тому

      @@stephensnell1379 Moisture is NOT air. Air is a combination of gases, which may include a trace amount of water vapor (ie "moisture"), but mostly nitrogen and oxygen. Nitrogen and oxygen could potentially both "condense" but not in Earth's atmosphere as it is today, and definitely not to make a cloud that rains H20 on us, not nitrogen or oxygen.
