I used to hear this kind of Gospel as a kid..then suddenly...it just disappeared and i forgot about it...but its back thanks to the internet...really good and informative music
When Elvis Presley was a youngster in segregated Memphis, he actually sang this music with the choir in a black church. Sounds incredible but true! His first musical love was this very gospel music and he sang it all the time, all his life. He won two Grammy awards for his gospel albums. They are his best stuff, hands down. And if you listen to his rendition of this song, you will see that he must’ve listened to the Golden Gate Quartet sing it.
Brothers and Sisters, as it is written in the Book of Joshua: "And it came to pass, when Joshua was by Jericho, that he lifted up his eyes and looked, and, behold, there stood a man over against him with his sword drawn in his hand; and Joshua went unto him, and said unto him: ‘Art thou for us, or for our adversaries?’ And he said: ‘Nay, but I am captain of the host of the LORD; I am now come.’ And Joshua fell on his face to the earth, and bowed down, and said unto him: ‘What saith my lord unto his servant?’ And the captain of the LORD’S host said unto Joshua: ‘Put off thy shoe from off thy foot; for the place whereon thou standest is holy.’ And Joshua did so." (Joshua 5:13-15) Brothers, as man is so very below God, so too are the Israelites who even bow down in fear before God. They fear because without fear they became a haughty people, far off from the days of Moses and Joshua. Beloved, what I mean is that without God the conquest of the promised land would be for naught in victory or defeat. These were called to be a people holy to The LORD Our God, not alike to the worldly peoples who beleaguered them, whose gods are lifeless stones and whose land festers with sin. Thus was the generation which Joshua lead, a people holy as God commanded and we as well have a commander in Our LORD and Savior, Jesus Christ. The man holy and holy who commands ten thousand times ten thousands and evermore than these. He taught us and His commandments still lead man today in holiness and love. He leads us and through death and life He conquered His enemies for us all. Jesus saves, let us then be fit for the battle against sin. Brother, be baptized and repent of sinfulness and have steadfast faith in Our LORD and Savior, Jesus Christ who is King of Kings, and Lord of Lords who leads His armies to victory.
