Ultra is the best ever. So many good things about the Watch. Would NEVER be without it. Great battery life. Last me (usually ) 2 days and that with music on and a long run.
Just 53 subs, to say underrated would be an understatement. Brother keep this up ! Just watched this and your long term overview of the M1 Max. Love it 🤙🏽
Dude! This was such a treat to get a boost of confidence like this. You rock, and glad that I can provide some insight. Merry Christmas and keep spreading the love!
I came from a Series 6 (GPS Only & in Aluminium) Model to the Ultra 2, so its a BIG step up in many ways. I managed to scratch the glass on my older one but not by much and it gotten down to 87% of Battery Health which was still ok and could get me through a day, but I would still need to top up the charge for the Next one, but with this one its pretty incredible in comparison so I could easily get at least 2 & a half days without charging (in Normal Power Mode though). The additional Cellular functionality is a bonus which I feel could come in handy for me at times, however I still wouldn’t really leave it on (all day) anyway to save some charge! I still usually use it the way I did with my other watch - connected to my iPhone!
Thanks for the comment! I also upgraded from the Series 6! The changes were most definitely welcome, and I'm glad I got the ultra...but it was hard to make a long-term pro and con review about it when I tried to think objectively about it.... The cellular is great, but maybe the 5% I actually used it. It was only when I would take my dog out for the walk and I forgot my phone, and my wife would call about something. But that was rare.
Garmin is the only GPS watch worth having nowadays. I got an Apple Watch Ultra 2 three months ago, after having all Garmin Fenix since the 5. After trying my best to like the AWU2, I sold it yesterday and got an Epix Pro 2 Sapphire. Once you have a flagship Garmin, it's impossible to forget it. Apple did a great job with smart features, mainly on the cellular connection. But they are decades behind Garmin regarding what to do with all the data collected. People used to say AWU2 is a smartwatch and Garmin is a sports watch, but I totally disagree. The way Apple deals with data is not smart AT ALL. So, if I don't have a Garmin, I prefer to use an analog watch than wear any other 'smartwatch' on the market.
This is a very welcomed perspective. Honestly I've been eyeing the Epix Pro 2 Sapphire myself, but the integration within the apple ecosystem is a hard one to leave. WIth that said, I stopped using cellular, which was really the second strong pull to stay on the ultra, so the Garmin is even more enticing now than ever. This comment definitely nudged me a bit closer to pulling the trigger 👀 thanks for sharing your thoughts!
I had the Series 5 for 4 years until now. I went to buy the Ultra 1 because Best Buy has the Green Alpine Loop on sale for $599. Tried it on for a full day at the gym and I don’t like the bulkiness of the Ultra series vs the regular series. Was not a fan of the Alpine Loop strap design either when it comes to the removing and putting on the wrist. So returned it and went with the Series 9. I had already traded in my series 5 for trade in credit so i needed to buy the series 9. Which I don’t mind but if it was not for the trade in, i would have held my series 5 for one more year. Since the Ultra is a bulkier design, i felt like i was banging it into things more in a day than i did with the 4 years of having my series 5. I hope the next Series 10 is just a 45MM with the Ultra design. That would be the perfect Apple Watch for me. If they keep the curve glass design permanent, than this series 9 will be kept for the next 4-5 years.
Interesting point, yes, it does stick out a bit more, but I find the difference if you were to put on a case on your series 9 to be maybe a little less. Sans case, I'd constantly be concerned about scratching/denting/damaging the apple watch. But comfort on the wrist is definitely more important than other perceived benefits, and glad the series 9 worked out! Definitely excited to see what the series 10 will look like!
Good question; I had the trail loop that started stinking up really bad after a few workouts...I find the rubber ones are least likely to start smelling after wearing everyday. I'm too lazy to switch bands before and after workouts so on stays the rubber strap!
Not sure if you've used a Garmin sportswatch because that's what they are first. The UI is clunky, you have bugs that doesn't get patched right away. Some functions are just omitted like auto brightness for previous Garmin models while hardware capable limited by the software. I would use a apple watch ultra except i don't have an iPhone.
Interesting points--I haven't use any of the newer comparable garmin watches (epix pro 2 or fenix 7 solar) but did try some other more base versions in the past. But yeah, the ultra definitely is more like a well engineered phone than a sportswatch.

Why aren’t you using an ultra band?

The battery life is what's keeping me from buying an Apple watch.
For sure, it's a big pill to swallow...still stuck in my throat 😅
