    Thak you so much for a really REALLY interesting series. These D&D adventure system board games are one of my all time favourites games to pull out and play from time to time: and your play throughs are very enjoyable to watch and enthuse and inspire me no end. Thank you (from me and the wife) for all your hard work :)

      I really appreciate the feedback! It's been a couple years since I filmed this, glad it was useful.

    Very enjoyable series (sorry I`m late coming to it, but I have only just discovered your series having been told about it and advised I really should come check it out.. really glad I did). I`m glad to see you giving yourself 3 healing surges at the start of the game: many are too caught up on the literal wording of the rules and only use 2, as though using more somehow makes you less of a player hehe. The game is hard enough as it is and every little bit of assistance sure helps. Besides which, I see the game as more of a rules `toolbox` to be modified, house-ruled and adjusted to taste (like adding salt and pepper to a meal). That's the beauty of this very cool game and the domain of every Game Host DM in any case. Id dearly love to see you revisit the D&D Adventure System and make a few more series for this game. I`ve watched and enjoyed many on you tube over the years, but yours shines top of the list. More please :)

      Just FYI regarding the healing surges, the rulebook does have a section on reducing or increasing difficulty. And the rules say using 3 healing surges is a way of reducing difficulty. Of all the D&D Adventure System games I have, Castle Ravenloft is by far the most challenging. Also thanks for the feedback!

    Thank you @jmwild1! Great intro and explains things that the instructions are missing. Really appreciate the time you have taken to make these. Now it's time to watch part 2. Can't wait to finally play this! Subscribed!

    Nothing beats a good ttrpg. It looks very cool though.

    This is the first fantasy game in which I see Dwarf staying behind the first lines of skirmisher characters... Doing magics and cures supports for the team !!! Kinda weird !!! Usually Dwarfs are seen - used - depicted and thinked of as "tanks"... And lore wise it is rare for a Dwarf to avoid the thrill and peril of the "first line"... Where the hammer strikes... Usually a Dwarf fits himself "at home" !!! (Even if Hammers and Maces are not the best weaponry that a short and tall being should choose in order to enter a combat and exit it unscathed !!! For Dwarfs are better the spears, the two-handed axes and swords and all the weaponry similar to pole weapons in terms of "reach", since they lack properly in that kind of matter...).

      Since the dwarf is a cleric, he'll hang behind the fighter. The fighter is Dragonborn, and if he wasn't in the party then maybe the dwarf would take some hits himself too. But he has to think of himself as healer first. In the early D&D games, the other races didn't have classes. Dwarves were just dwarves, and were always the ones to sign up for the front line!

      Dwarf Clerics do just that.....hang back and cover others, only dashing in to close range if REALLY needed. Its how we have always played our Dwarf Clerics over the years (been playing D&D for half a lifetime that way). The World of Warcraft computer game mentality has a lot to answer for,... and accounts for the `newer` image of how a Dwarf should be I think hehe.

      Oh totally, agreed. Actually Dwarf Clerics are an iconic part of past D&D lore. But now we`re going back to old school and the good old days of twenty, thirty years ago lol. Mind you, 4e D&D had some pretty cool Dwarf options on playing these characters in different and interesting ways.

    Thanks for the upload. Have you had a chance to use the Dungeon Command components with the Adventure System games?

    • @jmwild1
      @jmwild1  8 років тому

      No I have not. I've had all the Dungeon Command games in my 'save for later' section on Amazon for a long while. Just haven't jumped on it yet. I don't paint miniatures so pre-painted miniatures would be super nice, I know. I just have the four Adventure System games released to date.

      yeah there`s five games now for this system (and I hope they eventually make a sixth and even a seventh, in time.... here`s hoping hehe). But I just wanted to mirror the last comment and add some personal experience: the dungeon command add-ons REALLY enhance the game with some cool components (like NPCs) and some excellent themed miniatures too.

    You said you were going to talk about your campaign rules and house rules, which is the only reason I watched everything only to find out you didn't except for a bit on the treasure cards.

      B42UC4 Yes sorry about that. Life got in the way. I've been trying to get at least another playthrough of a game started, or even circle back to the D&D stuff like you said. But I've only had time to devote to unboxings lately. Hopefully if/when I can get some real world stuff out of the way I can spend more free time setting up and filming playthroughs.

      You could also wait for Tomb of Annihilation to come out and see how those rules and the Temple of Elemental Evil campaign rules can enrich your own ;).

      B42UC4 Yeah I'll get ToA matter what. Might be a while to get an idea how I could integrate it. ToEE campaign rules seemed convoluted to me but I'll have to give them another fair review.

      ONE YEAR LATER: Elemental Evil is a nice addition to the game, but WOW the game really shines with the inclusion of Tomb of Annihilation. I`m soooooo glad they did this one.

    Can you please tell me is there a specific order the tiles should be stacked ?
    I ask this because I mixed them hours after spending hours sorting the tokens etc !!!!!! Never saw sooooo many parts in one box. Had to find a separate box for the cards which I sleeved.
    The box is not big enough to hold everything.
    Thank you in advance.

    • @jmwild1
      @jmwild1  8 років тому +1

      Everything fit in the box until I sleeved the cards, and then I had no room for the cards. I also relocated the smaller components to a Plano box, but again those also fit in the box. As for the tiles, the next video in this series explains tile setup. How the tiles are setup depends on which adventure in the adventure book you play.

    I just bought the game and it isn't as fun as I thought its way to hard to play solo it not meant to be beat all it does is kill you two tials in

      I agree CR is extremely challenging (one might say masochistic). I never did release videos on my campaign rules adjustments as I had promised, and the intent was to reduce the brutality but still retain some challenge.
