Since Jesus Christ is the only way, as you say, why do you deny His Authority. To not do what Jesus said, one must do in John chapter 20 vrs 21-23 and in John chapter 6 vrs 53-58, is to deny Jesus Authority.
I think since Jesus is the only way that keeping your Faith in Him till the end is that narrow path He speaks of. The narrow path can't be living a sinless life because we all screw up from time to time. Plus salvation based on how good you can be would be a works salvation. Just my 2 cents.

Jesus said "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except by me."

Yeah, scary right? But I think that scenario will apply to many people that lived thinking all the time that because they are doing "works" in Jesus name, it was enough. But these people actually never confessed/accepted Jesus salvation gift and/or never lived a relationship with God. They actually never knew God and God will say that to them.
But what about people that knew God, accepted Jesus but after that they lived a life of sin here and there, being lukewarm, etc... and unfortunately reached the end of their time here on Earth (first death) without true repentance? they have known God and God knew them, right? This verse explains that scenario:
2 Peter 2:21-22:
"It would have been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than to have known it and then to turn their backs on the sacred command that was passed on to them. Of them the proverbs are true: “A dog returns to its vomit,” and, “A sow that is washed returns to her wallowing in the mud.”
Both scenarios are really bad and I don't wish them to anyone, but I wonder.... which one is worst? given the Bible give hints that there are different degrees of punishment, the same way there are different degrees of rewards on heaven after salvation.
The ones who were told "depart from me I never knew you" are the ones who relied on their works to save them instead of Jesus which is what a lot of christians do without realizing it. Remember what they said "Did WE don't prophesy in thy name and cast out many demons in thy name and do a great many wonderful works in thy name" key words "Did WE not do x y z" showing that they relied on their own works to save them when it's written that our good works are as filthy rags to god.
all you need to do is believe in Jesus when he was asked "what must we do that we may work the works of God?" He replied "This is the will of he who sent me is to BELIEVE IN HE WHOM THE FATHER SENT" plain and simple

Just believe the gospel man 😂 it's really not that hard. John wrote his gospel with the expressed purpose of saving the lost (see john 20:30-31) and he gives the sole criteria 99 times which is to believe. The word repent isn't used in the entire book. "He that believeth on the son hath everlasting life." BTW repentance simply means a change of mind.

The problem is some people think they can be saved on their own terms.
Is it just me, or does anyone else find it chilling how much laughter there is in this clip? Someone once said, 'When you preach hell, do it with tears in your eyes.' If we could see hell for just one moment we would never laugh again in a sermon like this. We would examine ourselves deeply and call out again for God's mercy. We would resolve even more to share the Gospel with others. And we would do so with tears.

I thought it was sad because it's no laughing matter. I believe he was doing this to lighten the heaviness and meant well but personally for me, I wouldn't feel appropriate laughing. But it's great to hear a preacher actually telling the truth when truth is rare anymore.

I just added my experience of finding God, and before I could post it, it disappeared. To make a long story short, tried everything under the sun to fulfill my desires and ambitions, was stopped in my tracks by severe illness. I asked God in and if Jesus Christ is God, show me. He did with a rushing in, and an amazing vision. Grabbed a Bible I had, opened it, and the contents leaped into my heart, causing a joy and peace I had never known. It’s real, it’s true, try it.
With love: I love hearing stories like yours. Please, hurry and get in a church that feels like conviction served straight to your heart. Until HE renews your mind and softens your heart daily, the best church for you is going to feel like the most judgmental place you’ve ever been.
I made the mistake of running from a church family that loved me enough to want to help me turn away from my filthy lifestyle. I am praying over you today. Please jump all the way in to a congregation that honors Jesus and HIS Word to us. Welcome home.

I used to wonder about the face of God. i heard it from the bible, and from church: if you have my face, then you have seen the face of THE LORD(maybe not an EXACT quote). ever since then, the thought never bothered me. God and Jesus aren't exactly the same, but it doesn't matter. Jesus is part of the Holy Trinity, and works for Heaven just like the angels.

Yet biblical salvation is immediate once you believe. The will of the father is the simply believe on the sun he sees the sun has eternal life has passed from death onto life. Either does not believe on the sun is already condemned, and the wrath of God is upon them RC Sproul was a false teacher.

(1915- 2003), dramatically saved in the desert in the British army during World War II, used to quote from Isaiah 55 when he was still alive. Sometimes his wife came up to the platform, briefly, and together they quoted it verbatim _by memory!_

Most people see tests as a form of aggravation, or a way to show you your deficiencies, a form of humiliation, a way to keep you down. But to the Christian, these tests are a way to show you the ways your positions are insufficient, thus allowing you to bolster your position, and avoid being blind sided by your enemies. If you understand that there is no condemnation by God in these tests, but rather love, and a sincere longing for you to be the best you you can be. There is much more to say on this, but this is not the place for a long dissertation. Hope this sheds some light on the Christian position concerning tests. Take care.

The thought of going to heaven is even scarier.
Relationship with the Lord is key. Talk to Him. Hang out with Him. Let Him be your brother! Even with our short comings and sinning, He is always there by your side no matter what. Keep moving and growing and learning and forgiving and praying and talking, and sharing --don’t give up even if you are fleshy. We all are and we strive to be more of the spirit. Always, don’t best yourself up if you fall on the ground. Get up. Dust off and move inward toward the cross.

The Lord Jesus is not our brother. He was not born out of Adam. He is our Lord and Saviour. We must have a relationship with Him and praise and worship Him. Go to Him in the Word and on your knees and at all times in prayer. He's not a buddy to hang out with. He is the creator of all things . Repent daily and pray He will let you.
Actually, reverential fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. Nowhere says to be a brother.
And remember, our righteousnesses are as filthy rags! Doing these things doesn't make us better, Christ's blood and work on the cross alone covers us. And it is through Him that the shortcomings of our "best" deeds and efforts are received. None of me, and ALL of Thee!

The bible says all who call on Jesus will be saved. It also tells about people who sin are of the devil. Is it a contradiction or are those who call on Jesus led by Jesus to learn more? In any case, I like to call on Jesus every single day. Ashley The Dreamer says the bible has been tampered with so possibly not all verses can be trusted, but I will not stop calling on Jesus to save me. I think I got the above all correct but people always should always check for themselves.

I consider myself a Christian, but these this “I never knew you.” passage is still deeply troubling to me, 25 years after my baptism. I’ve been a faithful church member all this time, and spent the last 22 years in pregnancy, childbirth, and homeschooling for my seven children. I willingly spend my life serving my children as my “mission field” because I do fear God, and desire salvation and the expansion of Jesus’ kingdom.
But still, assurance troubles me. Every single night I go to bed praying for mercy.
I never doubt that Jesus Christ is Lord, but I’m not sure that I’ll ever stop doubting I’m “saved”.
I know that when I meet the Lord, we’ll both know who I am and what I deserve. I also know that Jesus’ sacrifice is sufficient for even me, but I don’t know.

By raising children in a godly way and being submissive to your husband you're already serving the Lord indirectly. God does not ask much more than that to women. You do not fit into the category of people Jesus will reject as long as you remain pure throughout your life.

He doesn't go from knowing someone to not knowing them and back and forth each time you sin, fail etc. The passage doesn't say that, and since when do we take a sentence or 2 out of context to use it however one chooses - it completely changes the meaning.
The passage says I NEVER knew you...not I used to know you, then you messed up, now I forgot I ever knew you. This is contrasted by what God says: that he cast our sins our as far as the east is from the west, and remembers them no more. On and on the verses of assurance go. Put your trust in Christ. HE is faithful...not self-effort.
Now, the verse in question has proceeding verses. What do they say? He is wrapping up his message and talks about false prophets. What do we see today on TV today? Supposed prophets putting on a show for the cameras, telling all kinds of lies, making outrageous claims that never come true, blowing on the screen/cameras to supposedly "talk" to Covid and wipe it out all while fleecing desperate believers impressed by supposed signs and miracles, robbing them and storing up for themselves riches literally stolen to live outlandish lifestyles. It was fitting then, and it's fitting now. These verses about not knowing "them" were a continuation of Matt 7:15. So it's 7:15-23 dealing with false prophets. It's actually supposed to give us comfort that these evil people will see justice and serve as a warning to those who do it. Copeland, Hinn and others will say exactly...did we not... Well we know they're not feeding anyone, helping anyone etc. They're fruit? Accumulating wealth meant for GODs Kingdom for themselves... Their fruit: stealing hurting people's last $1000, taking advantage of the poor, the desperate, the uneducated promising miracles IF people give. Simon the sorcerer comes to mind but these guys are much much worse.

May we unashamedly preach the gospel, the way to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord! So many that are lost and on their way to Hell😢. When I was heavily involved and a previous believer in Mormonism, I was taught, and for a good time, believed that most people would enter into one of the 3 heavenly kingdoms, and "few" would actually be cast into "outer darkness".
When I found myself falling away from the LDS faith, and many years later encounter a health issue that helps me return to the Lord, I started reading the Bible (KJV) and sought true understanding, knowledge, wisdom and truth.
My eyes were opened and I was blessed with finding a good church with a good pastor who preached the word from the Bible alone, and I knew the truth because God's word is truth. It is amazing how powerful God's word is and can be, when we truly want all truth and seek after these things.
I pray for all my Mormon friends I grew up with because I know the truth and I know they are preaching a different message, a different gospel, and believe in a different Christ, then the one true born again Christians believe in.
Mormonism teaches that Jesus and Lucifer are "spirit brothers" and we are all "spirit brothers and sisters" to Jesus. We know this is not correct, for Christ Jesus is God in the flesh, our creator, for all things were made by him.
1 John 1:1 "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." - Who is the Word? Jesus Christ.

Sure someone can pretend to believe anything but the things one actually believe are not something you choose they are an involuntary response to one's level of information and understanding of their environment. This is terrifying to me. I haven’t been a very good person I’m 64 and diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer, I do believe that Jesus died for our sins and was raised from the dead. I’ve known this from my mid 30s but felt I could never be able to redeem myself from my past shortcomings. I get really confused listening to all the different interpretations of the Bible. All I can do at this point I guess is keep believing in Jesus.
Do not worry, do not fear. That Scripture about "Depart from Me for I never knew you" is about those who never believed on Jesus; the ones who never accepted salvation from Jesus. Notice how their pleading to Jesus is all about their works. They mention what they did in Jesus' name but they don't mention anything about believing on Him as the Son of God who came in the flesh and died for their sins. That's the first way we know they weren't ever believers in Christ.
The second way we know they weren't Jesus' redeemed is the fact that Jesus never knew them. One cannot both be saved and not be known of the Lord. If you're saved you are assuredly known by the Lord.
To be known of the Lord means there was fellowship a.k.a. intimacy with God the Son. Think about Jesus' declaration where He states how He will enter in your home (in this case your home is your spiritual heart) and dine with you if you open the door and let Him in whenever He knocks on your door.
Eating with someone is a form of intimacy; something that was taken very seriously in the biblical era (hence the reason why David in one of the Psalms laments about being betrayed by those whom he had broken bread with). If you had taken heed to the Lord's calling and had accepted Him in your home (heart), you are now known of the Lord because He's breaking bread with you (dining with you).
Jesus cannot lie and since He told those who were pleading with Him that He never knew them, then that means those folks were never saved to begin with. After all there are those who think they're good with God strictly because they do good works. There are those who mix in the things of God (or things they think are of God) with whatever mysticism and dark arts they participate in and believe they're doing the things of God. There are those who believe they're casting out demons in the name of the Lord when they burn sage for spiritual purposes of getting rid of foul spirits. It's people like that who will be told "I never knew you" during judgment if they don't believe on Jesus and receive His gift of salvation before death. If you had confessed Jesus as the Son of God and believe He came in the flesh and died for your sins, then you are saved.
Well of course you can’t redeem yourself; neither can I. That’s why the One without sin died. Romans 5:6-11 is a good one to soak in. It’s pretty obvious that you are repentant. And you said you believe in Jesus. Saturate yourself with scripture. Paul really hammers in on our salvation in the book of Romans. My prayers are with you for peace and assurance. ❤

Here’s what you should understand, and why so many will go to hell: almost everyone (including myself at first) believes he or she is good. You know how you can verify if you are actually good though? Ask yourself if you’ve broken even just one of the Ten Commandments. If you have ever told a lie, looked with lust (Jesus calls this adultery of the heart), stolen something regardless of its value, used God’s name in vain, hated someone, or committed any other sin, you are in danger of going to hell, because sin must be punished and no amount of good works you can do can make up for the bad. Trying to tell God all the good you’ve done is like bribery. If a murderer tried getting out of jail by talking about all the good things he or she did, do you think it would work? Same goes for us. But while God is wrathful against sin, He is also rich in mercy and forgiveness. The wages of sin is death, and in the Old Testament, God accepted substitutionary sacrifices in form of animals. But these were only temporary substitutes. The ultimate sacrifice came in form of Jesus Christ, who died and rose again. God in the flesh. If you had speeding tickets and someone else pays them, you’re off the hook. That’s what Jesus did for us. All we have to do is repent of sin and trust in Jesus to save us, not our own good works. It’s a free gift. No one is good enough to get into heaven because only two types of people get into heaven, perfect people and forgiven people. This is why many will go to hell, because they believe in justifying themselves through their own works. This is why Jesus Christ is literally the only way to heaven. Have a relationship with Him, I’m confident He wants this. But He won’t force Himself on you, only seek Him out and I have no doubt He will make Himself known to you. Hope that makes sense!

@johnnydough8841 it's not unbiblical IF belief in Christ's sacrifice and need for that in ones life is real & sincere - and yes this will come with evidence over time - everything from growth, to yearning to know God more, to fruit, maturity etc. That said, even the best believers arent finished products. We know that be spending even a few days with others and even outlselves - we're all broken but are being renewed. God will produce fruit and works (not sure BTW how fruit & works 2000 plus years later are still conflated BTW). God is able to change people from the inside out, change their desires etc. Jesus BTW IS the Narrow gate not your behavior, works, fruit, self etc. Actually Jesus said HIS yoke was easy and not burdensome so we can believe Paul, Christ etc or we can misuse Jesus words under the Old Covenant (the "gospels were still Old Covenant because Christ was still alive) to convict people under the law so they would come up him for Life and Life more abundantly.
Many of the folks in the comments based on what they're saying are living under the law. They don't trust Christ. They're trusting in works, fruit, behavior etc. Those changes will come as will the hunger to have them changed. Even repentance over time is a gift. Changed attitudes, mindset, wisdom - all gifts from God, not self-effort, white knuckling etc.
Now the verses in Matthew he's referring to that Christ NEVER knew are false prophets. How do we know this? First by the proceeding verses about false prophets and the characteristics of these people - they sound a LOT like Benny Hinn, Copeland etc. Did we not cast out demons etc? We also know from Paul's letters that no one can snatch believers out of Christ's hands, that our sins have been paid in full, that we're white as snow, that are sins are remembered no more, they're as far as the east is from the west. So we either believe these or we do not. As a result of this good (no excellent) news, that God loves us First he promises his spirit, his promises he will NEVER leave or forsake us. These verses in Matthew like Hebrews 10:26 are so often misused to manipulate people (which is NOT the gospel) its sad and certainly ungodly.
How do we know this. Proper Hermaneutics (rightly handling God's word by using proper interpretation and biblical rules for that interpretation) These verses if used incorrectly would contradict 100s of verses. These are not measuring stick verses. Jesus never says (nor do we find this anyware) that he used to know you, now he doesn't, but if you're really really good, he now remembers you again...until the next mistake you make, whoops, now he's forgotten you again... That's not only insanity and unbiblical, its the opposite of love - its performance.
There are so many more promises though from our faithful God. GOD BTW IS FAITHFUL. GOD MADE THE COVENANT WITH HIMSELF...even with Abraham. We should be celebrating not trying to re-earn as the Galations and Hebrews did (the very warning of 10:26 in Hebrews about sinning). The sin there is returning to the law (apostasy but hey the look great on the outside). How do we know what sin this is? (also called blasphemy of the Holy Ghost - the only unforgivable one because people that commit this want to be pridefully rewarded for their self effort and performance not grace and mercy.
Again, and I'm not sure how folks are "studying" their bibles when basic reading comprehension isn't being used oftentimes. The good news like any book, letter etc., the answer is in the preceeding paragraphs. No God and Paul aren't trying to trick anyone in Paul's letters, saints. There's not a secret code, it isn't read backwards etc. Sadly despite the simplicity of context, truth and the gospel, many teach other doctrines which are easy to spot frankly. It's sad but true. Money and pride is often the problem. Which brings us back to the false prophets Christ never knew (not ever). They're everywhere. So in that regard the road is broad but the Gate, the door, the chief cornerstone is full of grace, love, Hope, forgiveness & mercy.

@@scott7684 Faith is from man. Grace is from God. They are both motives. It is by grace that we have faith and that faith comes from God's word. Otherwise a man may be motivated but without Gods word he can never attain. The scripture says it this way... In vain do they worship me teaching as doctrine the commandments of men. So the alternate is true that we are saved by obedience to God by faith. Not the commandments of sin and death but the law of the spirit of life in Christ which freed us from that through baptism by faith. For it is in baptism that we are buried with Christ into his death so that we can be raised to walk in new life by he who raised Christ from the dead.

put that verse into context of Scriptures, and we see He is praying for the Roman Soldiers who were crucifying Him, who had no idea what they were doing, for they were just obeying orders from the above authorities, not False Christians who are in the World Twisting the Word of God.

Hell not a single supernatural event of the bible has been proven including the unf**ked birth of Jesus or the jumping out of the grave after 3 or 4 days.

Lord Jesus I do not want to go to hell, but as well i want to go to heaven, I repent every day,, I know for a fact that you died for me,, I know in my heart that your Father raised you from the grave,, I no longer drink or drug,, I go to church when I can, I plead with you every day to be closer to you, yet for some reason I feel condemned and seperated from. I used to feel that way. I finally realized I was not believing. You can't trust your feelings, but you can trust your will. Will yourself to believe. Don't look for a sign or feeling. Believe that God has saved you, for He already has.

Because I don't know Hebrew, Greek or even the Arabic language Jesus spoke I seek good Bible teachers to understand things I don't. For example, the first miracle that Jesus did was turn water into wine. For fifty years I didn't know the full meaning of that. It wasn't until a Jewish Christian explained that weddings in Galilee were different from any other place in Israel. The miracle has to do with Christ church being caught up, commonly called the rapture, the church is His bride.

It's difficult to fathom, but Sproul is right. I have been a Christian for over forty years and have studied the Bible for as many years and this is the only conclusion an honest New Testament student can come to. But it is so easy to be one of the relative few who will enter heaven when they die: simply surrender your life and your will to Jesus Christ and cease serving yourself and the world everyday and instead seek to do what God wants you to do which will be revealed to you as you pray and study the Bible.
I would suggest that you read a LITERAL translation of original Greek NT text. It shows you that the Good News is far better than what traditional (but less accurate) Bibles show.

This is the most powerful sermon you can ever hear. It should be bradcast every night on all TV stations as a horrific reminder of the fate that awaits all people who refuse to accept Christ. I myself am a Christian and genuinely, and 100% sincerely believe Jesus is God incarnate. But at times I still sin and hate myself when I do. Life is a constant struggle against sin and these reminders of the "narrow gate" are vitally important to me. Praise God for his love and the fact he sent his beautiful son to save us. But God does not love unconditionally. He will not take the rejection of his Son lightly.
I read the book, The Pagan Christ by Tom Harpur. He has a good argument that Jesus never existed. A made up character. Something tells me no such thing as hell. Man made idea. The Bible Myth and Allegory. Never to be taken literally or historically.

This is true, vital, necessary and sobering teaching. R.C Sproul preached the whole counsel of God's Word. I'm so thankful for his good humour, a feature present even when treating the most serious subjects. He was a gifted expositor, now with the Lord. This is a valuable video. We must not compromise on sound doctrine. We cannot shrink back from warning those on the broad way. Christ's love for sinners bids us to do just that. There must be godly sorrow, a deep conviction of sin and wrongdoing or trespassing first- otherwise the Gospel isn't Good News.
Telling Jesus you at last place your full complete faith in him is an excellent way to accomplish, agreed.?
