That was amazing! I have worked at airports for a long time, marshalling all manner of aircraft but never marshalled a sail plane. Brilliant, well done.

I'm a glider pilot and I have passed through this airport. Man if I had seen this - it would have been quite the treat. Well done. Now I can pass this video around and talk about the guy who actually landed a glider at a commercial airport.

Landing with a glider at an international airport. Awesome. Possible thanks to a very nice electric power system. This video shows what a fantastic and safe glider this is (with a good glide ratio) when you get permission to make such a flight and landing. A fantastically beautiful video, great images and well edited. Compliments.

Pretty amazing. Our club in Ottawa, Ontario once got a bill from Nav Canada for landing fees at Calgary international airport ... for our Grob 103. Had it been real, that would have been quite the cross-country flight. They finally accepted that it wasn't our aircraft, but they didn't give up easily.

I've been a retired B767 captain since 2004 but have no desire to fly my Silent2 Electro, GO, into my old base airport CYYZ. I don't believe it would be allowed as a glider or an ultralight especially now that airlines are resuming more normal operations.

Hi Jim, yes for sure such adventures are now getting more and more difficult now. Since some years i was always dreaming of flying a 360 around the Tower here in LOWW. Actually i thought it would never be possible due to the heavy traffic. But at the end Corona made it possible and i am happy, that i realized this dream and that i have such a nice video to remember :-)

How do you like your Silent 2 ??

    • @jimpike7445

@@captboul9018 Love it! Had a G109b for 20 years which I flew to Florida and the E and W coast of Canada but most of my flying was solo. I had to fold the wings to hangar it but the Silent fits my hangar and can be flying in minutes. Almost zero maintenance on the Silent and I can be sure it starts in the cold of early Spring and November. Some of my best flights have been in Spring with snow still on the ground. Here the Silent is registered as a "Basic Ultralight" which eliminates most of the paperwork and allows owner maintenance. Mine is 7 years old and fully equipped. I got it in 2017 from Alisport as a demo. It actually held some records in Namibia. So far I've put 409hr airtime on it and only replaced the main tire and tailwheel due to taxiing and flying off asphalt. Batteries seem to be maintaining their capacity but I would love to have more when available. Best flights here in Ontario have been 5.5 hr and 315km. No mountains here for slope or wave soaring :>(

@@RudisGlidingAdventures That would be so epic! I'm starting my controlled airspace training at an international airport (previously only glider and ultralight flying) on my way to a commercial licence. It's so cool talking to the big guys! Even if you didn't have enough capacity for departure, would you be able to bring a charger with you and top the batteries up? Subscribed.
